I’ll probably go into detail regarding the idea of the stimulus later, but I wanted to throw this out there.
I’ve been thinking about what to do with this potential windfall, and I’ve come to a couple of tentative conclusions.
1. Although 2K would put a big dent in my car loan, I don’t plan to pay that off.
2. Whatever I spend it on will be something tangible/manufactured, and made in the USA.
3. Wherever I purchase, whatever it is, will not be from a national chain or from Amazon. I’ll be shopping local or ordering directly from the manufacturer.
4. If we were free, I’d consider expensive dinners out at local restaurants, with large tips. Depending on the amount, I may save some for exactly this
If I’m going to get the check, I’m going to spend it in a way that’ll hopefully drive a little domestic business.

If I was to spend any of it on myself, I'll very possibly get a gun...from a local dealer. Donating all or part to worthy causes, such as pro-life organizations, is also tops on my list. If I thought donating more than I already have to Perdue and Loeffler would make a real difference, I'd sign over the entire check.
I think that your first option (provided it new and an American manufacturer) fits with the criteria I’ve decided.
The second, while laudable and worthy, is more indirect than I’d personally prefer.
You're more concerned with stimulating the economy and helping those unjustly harmed by despotic "covid related" mandates? That's cool.
As an aside, I'm struggling with how I'm going to go about arming up. I was leaning toward further training (since I do want a CCP) which would help in the selecting a weapon, I'm now of a mind that simply getting a weapon and worrying about which one is best for me later is the way to go, given who might be inaugurated next month. It would be far easier to deal with unconstitutional gun control edicts if I already have a weapon in my possession than to try to get one afterwards.
I think that the best way I can maximize the effect of whatever, is with targeted intentional spending of the stimulus. I’m not saying that I’m right, as much as saying that I think that’s the best option for me.
As to the second, that’s a big topic.

I recently spoke with a friend who has been dining out more often than he used to in order to help out local restaurants. The wife and I are doing similar, but there's a limit given the cost of doing so. We've always tried to patronize local businesses before looking elsewhere for what we need, and even keeping the chain stores going helps local people employed there.

I agree that there is a limit, and that it's based on individual budgets and preferences. We probably eat out more than we should, and the measures imposed on us have diminished that. I think that we will likely pick back up when Walz finally relents and decides that enough restaurants have been permanently closed due to his edicts. We'll likely be more focused on where we eat out and continue to tip well.
