Apparently the woke folk are pissed at Lin Manuel Miranda (a person of Hispanic heritage). Lin, who’s most famous for writing a musical where he re cast the founding fathers as black dudes with mad rap skills, has a movie coming out soon. Apparently this movie, In The Heights, had some serious problems. The movie, set in a neighborhood full of Hispanic folks, who are all played by actual card carrying Hispanic actors, is under fire for its casting choices. I guess it’s not enough to cast Hispanic actors to play Hispanic characters, you also must pick Hispanic actors of the proper hue, to be safe from the woke mob.
Of course it’s completely reasonable to expect that the actors must meet multiple tests of authenticity to be cast. Strangely it seems that Hispanic heritage isn’t enough to satisfy the woke mob. They always find something to complain about.

The left are largely people with too much time on their hands, and very little between the ears for developing anything meaningful on which to spend it all.
1. This is an excellent example of those on the political/social left getting way too wrapped up in first world problems.
2. The entire story shows the literal insanity among many/most on the left that this is a bigger story than the record violence in many cities.
3. You literally have one of the most powerful Hispanic men in the entertainment industry/society who has made an (from what I've heard) entertaining, well crafted, well acted/sung/dances big budget musical that will likely make good money, with a cast full of Hispanic actors, and these folks bitch that they aren't dark enough.
As Schaeffer wrote about years ago, societies deteriorate through education and the art's first. This is simply a preview of coming attractions in other areas of society.
Apparently Miranda has apologized for his "failure". That is really disappointing. The thought of him trying to curry favor with the idiots who are complaining is ridiculous. Even though I didn't particularly like the musical, I might have to buy a ticket just to show my support.
If you listened to black people you'll also often be listening to black latinos and latinas. They don't want to be erased. Washington Heights is mostly Dominican Republic immigrants... most of who are black.
But you don't listen to black people. You only listen for agreement. Like a stooge.
Mr Miranda is fantastic. So is Rita Moreno. But they stumbled over their light-skinned privilege. And then realized it.
We all swim in the water of white supremacy. The rest of us get wet. You drowned.
