Hear the name before, was unfamiliar with him. May he rest in God's Peace nonetheless.

Been doing some reading on Keller. He doesn't seem like my kinda preacher. Would you concur or not? Just wondering.

My first question is whether you've been reading what Keller has actually said and written, or whether you've been reading what others have said about him.

Like any pastor or teacher, there are thing Keller has said that I agree with, and things that I don't agree with.

Regardless, it's impossible to ignore his influence, and acknowledging his passing with respect is simply the right thing to do.

Influence is not necessarily a praiseworthy trait in and of itself. Look at Farrakhan. Very influential.

As I indicated, I've been doing reading about him and there is a video which was selected to highlight the points made about what his influence looked like. I haven't watched it yet, but I intend to do so. The source providing the video is also being researched by me, though what I've found so far hasn't raised any red flags. To be frank, I don't follow any of the many "famous" or "celebrity" preachers who have attained a significant level of public attention and notoriety. I'll look at anything recommended, but I don't have an intrinsic compulsion to seek any of them out.

In any case, I hope he satisfied God enough for his own sake, as my initial comment should've suggested. The rest came later as a result of the accolades showered upon his memory since his passing.

Influence, in and of itself, isn’t necessarily a problem. My point being that as long as you only read secondary sources, you’re unlikely to get an accurate picture. I’m not arguing that Keller was right about everything, I am arguing for letting his words speak for themselves.

As someone who would argue that it’s impossible to “satisfy God” enough to be saved, I’m not sure that what he did matters re his salvation.

Once again, the source which informed me provided a video of his words to support their opinion. I haven't had the time to watch it yet, but what I've seen thus far justified my expressing concern. I'm not Dan. I do look more deeply, though I'm not obliged to wait until and exhaustive study is concluded, at which time the point would be moot anyway.
