Silence

Yesterday, both my Facebook and Twitter feeds were full of people demanding action, and (without actually being direct) calling for gun bans if some sort or another.   Today, in the wake of the FBI announcement that it dropped the ball after being warned specifically about this Cruz, I see nothing.   Not, continued calls for action.  Not, continued “why do people need...”.  Not even, “Oh, maybe I should have waited for more information before I made my pronouncements about who’s responsible”.    Not a single meme or quote or anything.

To answer the “What could have prevented this tragedy?” question.  Or the “Who’s responsible?” question.   I offer the following options.

1.  Cruz is responsible.
2.  The FBI could have stopped this by doing their job, and following their procedures.
3.  See something, Say something actually worked in this case.

As an aside, while I would never broad brush an entire organization, it seems as though the FBI has some problems (or problem agents), and needs to do some work to rehabilitate it’s image and credibility.

I saw a summary of shootings where someone could have made a difference if unusual behaviors were reported, or if procedures already in place were properly followed. It's pretty much a common trait of all of these events. I also saw a case where a grandmother reported her own grandson after coming upon something of his that suggested he was making plans to be the next psychopath with the greatest death toll to his credit. He was arrested after weapons and incriminating evidence was found. A tragedy diverted and a lesson to be learned. (This took place in Washington or Oregon...don't recall which)

It’s amax that it’s possible to prevent these sorts of things by using common sense and following LE procedures.

Amazing, not amax.

At least reduce the frequency. I'd settle for that right now. Don't think it's rational to expect perfection, given mistakes can be made and the next madman then given opportunity. But greater focus on details would go a long way toward minimizing future death tolls.

Clearly you can’t prevent all of these acts, but we have one that unquestionably could have been prevented had the FBI simply followed its procedures.

The irony is that the guy was willing to violate multiple felony laws, but folks on the left think that a misdemeanor gun regulation would have been the one that worked.

But, these are the same folk who post pictures of those who disagree coveted with bullet holes in an attempt to stifle free speech.
