"I say this as a kid who grew up in Europe and traveled there frequently as an Air Force pilot. Indulge me. Europe has become a museum. It exists to support tourism. It’s a socialist, feckless, conglomeration of countries struggling to live and get along with each other. Their combined military power is insignificant. They need NATO and, most importantly, they need the US. Let them go their on way for a while and figure it out."
I think that he has a valid point here. Both Europe and Canada have relied on the US taxpayers for so much since 1946, that maybe it's time for us the let them go their own way. Why should we fund their defense, which allows them to fund massive social welfare states, with money that US taxpayers will be paying for over the next several generations.

Maybe the Polish PM has it right.
Why are 500,000,000 Europeans asking 300,000,000 Americans to defend them against 140,000,000 Russians?

The behavior of Zelenskyy is typical of Europe as a whole. Entitled. In denial of reality. Narcissistic. Unconcerned with our need to deal with many massive internal problems. Such juvenile & entitled behavior makes us less not more desirous of helping Ukraine and Europe.
Schellenberger, as someone with a decidedly left of center viewpoint should have some credibility here, but likely not.

He's one about whom I wonder if he will move to the right. It's happening to many on the left.
No idea. I agree that Europe is essentially a museum, albeit one that is hellbent on destroying itself and undermining the tourist economy that supports them.
