I'll be honest, I don't recall ever hearing the anorexia counter to the "trans" narrative, but it actually makes sense intuitively. Both require that we ignore the physical reality of one's physical body and replace that with a non physical feeling to justify making damaging changes to the physical body.
Now we have some Science to back up that intuition. It's from Europe, and most leftists tend to ignore anything on "trans" issues that comes from Europe. Nonetheless, the evidence against the "Dan" narrative on "trans" issues continues to mount.

What did Reagan say about the left knowing so much that just isn't true? This comes into play when dealing with defenders of the indefensible. I can't think of a "study" presented by Dan on issues like this which didn't actually stand as the defense and support for the issue as he believed it did, which is why he presented it. I continue to believe that if there were some definitive study which proves the claim, we'd have it thrown in our faces with the challenge to rebut it. That never happens.
If nothing else, what WK presents is just one more reason to pump the brakes, rather than to put the pedal to the metal and permanently alter a person's body.
Dan tends to find "studies" or refers to mystery "studies", or simply blows some "experts say" smoke about this sort of thing. Then when actual "data" that contradicts his narrative comes out, he'll either stay silent or go ad hom. It's how he rolls.
The fact that virtually the entire continent of Europe has pumped the brakes on wholesale "transing" of anyone who has a mild interest should be significant. However the "trans" enablers in the US are immune to things like science, logic, reason, and evidence.
What I don't understand is why. It's not a significant segment of society. They science doesn't support their beliefs about themselves. And no pro-trans "professional" can provide an honest reason for enabling these people, some of whom are truly in need of counseling and guidance in dealing with their delusions. No one in politics who believes the enabling should continue...and on our dime...is honest. They're pandering like mad and/or trying to frame the opposition as "transphobic" in hopes of pissing off the stupid.
I think it's about control. I think it's what happens to a society when all of it's basic needs are met and people need something to struggle against, so they make shit up. Historically, what made the US great was struggle. I'm convinced that humans need something to overcome, and the with the degree of material success we've had that we've eliminated many of the things that humans have fundamentally struggled to provide themselves (food, shelter, etc). Essentially it's a first world problem and why we don't see this idiocy in the developing world.
The point of the comparison is excellent. Everyone would agree that telling an 85 pound girl that she needs to believe that she's "fat" and that she should go to Weight Watchers is insane. That's it's literally a death sentence for the girl. Yet people have no problem sentencing children to a lifetime of negative consequences to affirm their childhood delusion. The very fact that the vast majority of "trans" kids don't end up as "trans" adults should tell us something, that people like Dan choose to ignore the "data" and push a narrative is the opposite of caring.
Finally, I believe that the DFL needs new groups of voters. They've abandoned the labor unions in favor of the greens, and are abandoning other constituencies as well. They need aggrieved constituencies to pander to and are forced to pander to smaller groups. What's strange is that so many of their policies lead to extinction. Our birth rate is below replacement, yet we abort millions every year. Both gays and "trans" are both evolutionary dead ends, and will further reduce the birth rate. I know that they can buy children through surrogacy, but that doesn't cancel the inherent inability of both groups to procreate.
Ultimately it's probably about exerting power and being able to force people to accept, celebrate, and fund things that know are wrong.
