Neither Maher nor Stewart are stupid, but they've both played stupid on TV for so long it's hard for me to give them props to saying the obvious. I do agree, however, that it is indeed good they're saying it. By doing so they're affirming conservatism, whether they mean to do so or not. Neither will totally cross the line and die to their former selves to be "born again". We'll take what we can get, but I'll still hold them at arm's length.

I'm not suggesting anything other than that they are speaking common sense. They clearly are not conservative, but they seem to want the DFL to move to the center and away from the extreme fringe.

I don't know about you, but it would be nice to see the gap close between the parties because the DFL moves back to the right.

It would indeed be nice. What are the odds against it getting worse before it gets better? Rather high, I'd think.

I think that the irrational commitment to some of the current narratives might be what starts to turn the tide.
