I want to make two points with this story.

The first and most obvious is that states governed virtually exclusively by the DFL are rife with these kinds of incidents.   The families of the victims of this murderer should 100% be able to sue the state generally and possibly the judges/DAs individually for the entirely predictable results of their actions.   It is absolutely insane that this type of thing happens with regularity and yet people like Dan just keep voting for the people who bring us this carnage over and over again.   If harm reduction is truly the foundational principle of your moral code, and you're not outraged by this, then you have no moral code at all.  

The second and less obvious, is that we are seeing local news stations picking up the ball and run with it when it comes to the fraud, crime, and government malfeasance we have seen over the last few years.  While the MSM fawns over Walz and acts as if MN is a paradise, the local news people aren't afraid to  report on these stories.  Fair is fair, and acknowledging news organizations that aren't simply reading a press release from some left with group deserve props.

This is one more example of an individual with a long and violent criminal record being put in a position to cause more harm due to a "justice system" that is seriously screwed up.

 On hearing this, Jesus said, “It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick.  But go and learn what this means: ‘I desire mercy, not sacrifice.’ For I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners.”"

I find it strange that when Jesus is clear about His purpose and  ministry, so many choose to deny or ignore His clarity.  

In this case, Jesus has called Matthew to be one of His disciples.   Jesus chose Matthew for His own reasons, which aren't clear from the text.  Yet what is clear is that Jesus CHOSE Matthew as one of  the 12 who would be the very foundation of the spreading of The Gospel.  As we know, tax collectors were despised and reviled due to the corruption that was part and parcel of their work.  By any measure Matthew, as a tax collector, was an agent of the oppressive Roman government who lied and cheated people for personal gain.   By any definition it seems safe to say that Matthew wasn't called as Jesus' disciple due to his personal holiness or freedom from sin.  It also seems safe to say that Matthew probably wasn't a "good" person.  It's almost like Matthew was chosen out of thousands of other people for a specific purpose, you could even say that he was predestined for his role.  

As a side note, it's strange to hear those who vehemently object to the very notion of Unconditional Election not object to Jesus (in the NT) or YHWH (in the OT) choosing or electing people for particular roles without condition or without regard for their suitability.

So, back to the calling of Matthew.   There doesn't seem to be any reason why he was qualified to be Jesus' disciple, yet Jesus elected him.   For some reason, Jesus went to Matthew's house for dinner (which suggests that Matthew probably wasn't particularly poor) and Matthew invited his friends and fellow tax collectors.   This seems much like a similar response to the Samaritan woman who, after her encounter with Jesus, told her entire village about this great "prophet".  Matthew seemingly wanted his friends to experience what he experienced.   

Obviously the Pharisees didn't like this, and were looking for dirt on Jesus.    Once again, Jesus has the perfect answer to their question.   He points out that He has come to call sinners to repentance, which clearly wasn't a priority for the Jewish religious leaders.   When asked, Jesus is clear that He isn't doing this to attract the (self) "righteous", but "sinners".     It seems clear in hindsight, that Jesus was pointing out subtly that the Pharisees were also "sinners", even as they believed themselves to be "righteous".  Strangely enough, nowhere in this interaction does Jesus mention the "poor and marginalized" which raises the bigger question of "Why not?".    

 

I suspect that it was because The Gospel He brought was equally valid and necessary for tax collectors, sinners, oppressors, oppressed, poor, middle class, and rich.   That The Gospel was even for Pharisees.  

Maybe Jesus was much more of a both/and when it came to The Gospel than some would like to acknowledge.  Jesus and The Gospel He preached was clearly exclusive to some, but maybe the lines Jesus drew were not based on political, social, or economic conditions, but on something else.

(Sec. 345) Authorizes a waiver of exclusion or deportation for civil document fraud under specified family-related circumstances.

(Sec. 347) Amends Federal criminal law to provide for exclusion and deportation of an alien who has illegally voted. 

 

So, we literally have existing legal grounds to immediately deport any illegal alien who has engaged in "document fraud" (Fake SSN), voted, falsely claimed citizenship, or violated the terms of their student visa (Antisemitic protests from the last 2 years).

 My question is whether or not States, other jurisdictions, or individuals that facilitate any of the above violations can also be charged with a crime?  It seems like CA issuing CDLs (Real ID) to those who are not legally qualified to posses those, or MN which passes out drivers licenses and voter registrations like candy at Halloween, then assume some liability for the crimes (multiple murders recently) committed by those they've helped violate the law.

As I've been clear, I oppose the existence of public employee unions as I believe that making huge financial contributions to the very people that you negotiate with is an inherent conflict of interest.

With that said, it's telling that the main federal employees union is calling for the DFL to pass the clear CR that they've voted against multiple times.   

For all of the ASPL whining on  social media about people losing SNAP benefits, I'd simply point out that the DFL voted against a bill that would fund SNAP and military salaries recently.  When a bill needs 60 votes to pass, and the majority party doesn't have 60 votes, it's the minority party's responsibility if the bill doesn't pass.  

The DFL completely owns this shutdown.    

Mea Culpa

 The sermon yesterday was on the 6th commandment, "don't murder" and it got a little convicting.  The pastor talked about an alternate translation which was "Don't treat other's lives as disposable", which I thought was interesting.  He went into some depth on the reason for this commandment which is grounded in our worth as beings crested in YHWH's image.  He also spent a lot of time on Jesus teachings in Matthew on the topic.  

As I listened to that part, I realized that I often allow my frustration for Dan to be expressed in ways which might not be aligned with either the 6th commandment or with Jesus' commentary on the 6th commandment.   For that I apologize.  I firmly believe that Dan is created in the image of  YHWH and as such has immense intrinsic value.  I do not in any way wish to convey that Dan's life is of less value than anyone else's, or that I believe that he should be disposable.  My disagreements and frustration with Dan stem entirely from the positions he holds, and not from my disdain of him as someone with no value.  I will admit that some of how I respond is simply responding to Dan based on how Dan treats others.   I shouldn't do so, but it is difficult not to on occasion. 

Going forward I will endeavor to moderate my tone, and to be more specific about my disagreements being with Dan's ideas, and not with Dan as an image bearer of God.
