This is literally batsh*t crazy. Let's be crystal clear - as the largest police news outlet in the world, we will NEVER support this "police commissioner" - who SHOULD BE BEHIND BARS!! Democrat-run Detroit, in a metro area with one of America’s largest Muslim populations, now has a convicted felon on its Board of Police Commissioners. ⠀ Darious Morris was sworn in as the District 3 commissioner after winning a November 2025 write-in election with 518 votes. The city has been under continuous Democratic leadership, with Mayor Mary Sheffield, a Democrat, taking office in January 2026 after Mike Duggan. Metro Detroit, including nearby Dearborn and Hamtramck, holds the country’s largest Arabic-speaking community and one of its densest concentrations of Muslims. ⠀ In 2009 Morris was convicted related to forgery and impersonating a notary public in a scheme involving deeds on foreclosed homes. He received probation on one case and a two-year prison sentence on related charges. In 2021 he was charged with felon in possession of a firearm. That case was dismissed after an officer failed to appear, and prosecutors later declined to refile once the weapon had been destroyed. ⠀ In 2023 Morris intervened in a Warren traffic stop while wearing a silver badge purchased online and claiming to be a Detroit Police Department chaplain. Bodycam and accounts show he was recorded yelling at officers and making a threat along the lines of “If you would have put your hands on him, I would have shot you.” He pleaded guilty to assaulting, resisting or obstructing a police officer and was sentenced to probation. ⠀ As commissioner he publicly complained after officers at the 9th Precinct required him to go through a metal detector. An inspector general review later cleared related misconduct allegations, and he remains in the position. A civilian board member with this record now holds formal oversight of the Detroit Police Department under long-term Democratic control."
