Health Care

" Rep. Jayapal told a health-policy crowd where her new slogan came from: "in our focus groups and in our polling is the idea of freedom." So I read the bill. H.R. 3069, Section 107. It makes it UNLAWFUL for an insurer, or your employer, to offer coverage that duplicates the government plan. Freedom. Medicare for All is not freedom. It is enslavement. Once Washington is the only legal payer, the government literally holds your life, your kids' future, and the answer to whether your wife gets to fight her cancer or gets handed the paperwork for assisted suicide. Every one of those calls moves from your kitchen table to a federal budget office. Pramila. You did not find freedom in the bill. You found it in a focus group and glued it to the cover. That is muddying the water to make it look deep. Pencils out. Let's grade the speech. "It has taken away people's freedom." People stay in jobs they don't love because of the benefits. Since 2014, no insurer can turn you down for a pre-existing condition. Leaving a job does not cost you the right to buy coverage. An HSA already follows the worker, and since 2020 an employer can hand you tax-free money for an individual plan that goes with you when you quit. The cure for being chained to your boss's plan is letting you OWN your plan. Her cure is chaining you to a bigger boss you can never quit. You can change jobs. You cannot change countries. Well... Canadians do. More than 105,000 of them left Canada for treatment in a single year. "Freedom to switch jobs." In 2019 she told reporters her bill would push about one million private insurance employees out of work. Freedom to switch jobs, delivered by deleting a million of them. Slight oversight! "Medium sized businesses... can't afford to compete with corporations." Ask who pays. When Bernie released his own menu of ways to fund this in 2019, it included a 7.5 percent premium on employer payroll. Every worker, every paycheck, whether the shop made money that month or not. A small business does not compete better when Washington takes a cut of every wage before the owner sees a dime. That plan couldn't pour water out of a boot with instructions on the heel. "Without worrying about losing your healthcare." You won't lose your coverage. You'll lose the date. Fraser's 2025 survey puts Canada's median wait from GP referral to treatment at 28.6 weeks, triple what it was in 1993. Neurosurgery, 49.9 weeks. Canada's own Supreme Court wrote it down in Chaoulli: access to a waiting list is not access to health care. And under Section 107, there is no private door out of that line. Let me get this straight, using your logic. Groceries for All. One federal grocery store, and it becomes unlawful for Kroger to sell any food the government store already stocks. Never again worry about losing your grocery budget when you switch jobs. The shelves get restocked on Washington's schedule, and you get the freedom of 28 weeks between milk deliveries. It's just common sense. What's next, a state-run plan writes a grandmother with lung cancer to say it won't pay for her cancer pill, but physician aid in dying is covered... wait, I'm being told Oregon's state-run health plan already did that. 2008. Barbara Wagner, 64, a retired school bus driver. The drug company ended up giving her the medicine for free. The government had offered her the other prescription. Canada took the same road further. Health Canada reports 16,499 assisted deaths in 2024, about one of every twenty deaths in the country. When the treatment line is long and the death line is short, some desperate people take the short one. Your own state legalized assisted suicide in 2008, Congresswoman. Put one payer in charge of the cancer list AND the shortcut, and you've handed Washington the pen that wrote the Oregon letter. Funny thing about your bill... it leaves the VA alone. The VA is the government plan I was on when my shoulder surgery got pushed back three years. Apparently that line was already free enough. Quinn's Law Number Nine: to a liberal, intentions matter more than outcomes. A focus group measures how a word FEELS. It never measures how long the wait is. You can lead a person to Congress, but you can't make t

hem read Section 107. When the list says 28 weeks, a free country lets you walk out the door and pay someone else. Your bill bolts that door shut and paints FREEDOM on it. I laid out the full case, and the plan the right supposedly doesn't have, here: x.comBskiMike22802/
