Colorado Springs

As of this point we don't know what motivated someone to attack the Planned Parenthood center in CO Springs, it is safe to say that this is a horrible thing and a tragedy.  There is nothing that can justify the taking of innocent life.

While that actions of PP disgust me and many others, I see nothing that would make the actions taken anything other than wrong.

I have to say that the actions of the police officer Garret Swasey who was from all accounts a passionate Christian and profoundly anti abortion, yet he ran toward the gunfire to try to save people who were engaged in actions that he found reprehensible.   Seems like an excellent example of a Christian.

"Nothing" can justify taking innocent lives? I don't recall, Craig, are you one who opposes the notion of Hiroshima-style attacks? Was Hiroshima unjustified?

I hope you are consistent on this point.

I also wonder, Huckabee and others have made comments to the effect of " there’s no excuse for killing other people, whether it’s happening inside the Planned Parenthood headquarters, inside their clinics where many millions of babies die, or whether it’s people attacking Planned Parenthood..." but it seems that by saying, "INSIDE PP, they kill millions of babies..." that they are offering an excuse to some who would say, "You know, it IS a good excuse to kill a few people outside of these clinics to stop the killing of millions of babies inside..."

Do you see how some people could reason that way? In fact, it is very similar to the defense some offer for Hiroshima, that we "HAD" to kill hundreds of thousands of innocents in order to save even more lives...

Please allow me to clarify. In this context nothing can justify taking innocent lives. I do find that in other contexts there might be justification for taking "innocent" lives. This is certainly accepted under the Christian doctrine of Just War Theory. A rational argument could also be made that it is sometimes necessary to take "innocent" lives to bring about a greater good.

I'm sorry, that I was unclear about the context of my remark and hope that you will forgive my lack of clarity.

Like it or not MILLIONS of innocent human beings are killed annually inside of PP clinics and those MILLIONS go (virtually) unacknowledged and unmourned. Do I see how some people could "reason" that way, I guess. Of course "some people" reason that it's moral to kill people for all kinds of reasons. The fact that people do things doesn't for reasons they consider "rational" really is beside the point.

Some people are willing to jump on this story and use it as a justification for all sorts of things. Some people are willing to jump to conclusions about this guys "motivation", without waiting for any actual evidence to support their politically motivated conclusions.

So, by all means, consider to justify what happens inside of PP clinics every single day on a scale that should boggle the mind while trying to blame every possible person other than the shooter for this.

The fact that I left and responded to the above comment is my extending grace to you.

I know you somehow think that if you just ignore something and wait long enough you can pretend that it doesn't exist.

The price for any future comments is an apology to Stan without any qualifications and without blaming Stan.

First, your uncritical acceptance of the narrative around this story simply reinforces my opinion that you aren't really as serious as you pretend.

Second, your inability to understand that a apology which is full of equivocation and blame is not an apology and to actually apologize for your behavior is a concern.

Third, you are really suggesting that context is inconsistent as if inconsistency is not your default position.

Fourth, when Japanese society as a whole supported the war effort and was prepared to sacrifice many more lives to prolong the war they started I think it's reasonable to suggest that Japanese society a's a whole was not 100% innocent.

Fifth, the fact that you continue to hitch about my not answering all your questions, while ignoring the multiple occasions when I answer every single question in a given thread demonstrates that your concern for consistency only goes as far as your use of it as a weapon against others.

Once again, all you need to do to stop the deleting is muster up an unqualified blame free apology, I guess you just aren't capable of taking responsibility for your actions and being humble and grace filled enough to simply apologize when it is demonstrated that you have made a mistake. .

I hope you understand that I would prefer to allow your comments and have a conversation., but when you cannot even muster a simple direct apogy when asked respectfully and politely you really tie my hands. I asked nicely, you chose the path of denial and blaming others. I firmly told you what would happen if you chose not to apologize, you ignored that. Now, you act as if I'm just randomly deleting your comments out of spite while impugning my honor. If you were at all interested in honorable behavior, you would go to the post in question, apologize and be done with it. Instead you choose intransigence and think that continuing to blame others will distract from the path you chose.

So please, do the honorable thing. The thing you always claim you are willing to do, but never actually do. Admit you made a mistake, apologize, stop blaming others, and move on.

As for me I willingly forgive you and hope that you will repent and apologize so I don't have to keep deleting you.
