This is Pretty Thought Provoking

 https://slowtowrite.com/slaves-of-white-people-slaves-of-christ/

“But among other observations, one great duty I owe to Almighty God, (the thankful acknowledgment I would not omit for any consideration) that, although I have been brought away from my native country, in that torrent of my robbery and wickedness, thanks be to God for his good providence towards me; I have both obtained liberty, and acquired the great advantages of some little learning, in being able to read and write, and, what is still infinitely of greater advantage, I trust, to know something of HIM who is that God whose providence rules over alland who is the only Potent One that rules in the nations over the children of men. It is unto Him, who is the Prince of the Kings of the earth, that I would give all thanks. And, in some manner, I may say with Joseph, as he did with respect to the evil intention of his brethren, when they sold him into Egypt, that whatever evil intentions and bad motives those insidious robbers had in carrying me away from my native country and friends, I trust, was what the Lord intended for my good. In this respect, I am highly indebted to many of the good people of England for learning and principles unknown to the people of my native country. But, above all, what have I obtained from the Lord God of Hosts, the God of the Christians! In that divine revelation of the only true God, and the Saviour of men, what a treasure of wisdom and blessings are involved? How wonderful is the divine goodness displayed in those invaluable books the Old and New Testaments, that inestimable compilation of books, the Bible? And, O what a treasure to have, and one of the greatest advantages to be able to read therein, and a divine blessing to understand!”

 Ottabah Cugoano,

I find myself wondering how the testimony of an African slave cannot be taken seriously.

Nothing Wrong With This

Dude, who claims to be a woman, convicted of raping his daughter ends up in a women's prison.  What could possibly go wrong with that arrangement.   It's almost like the state just put this sexual offender in the equivalent of an all-you-can-eat buffet.

I could keep posting links for quite a while, but it's obvious that there is absolutely zero link between immigration and crime.  None, Zip, Zero, Nada.

Narrative

There's a narrative that gets repeated quite often that the reason why there has been nothing done to secure the border is because the GOP refuses to do anything.

When making this kind of claim, it seems that (at a minimum) the party making the claim would have had to exhaust every possible option to fix the problem on their own before this narrative makes sense.

In this case, the DFL is the party making this claim and pushing this narrative so it's reasonable to look at what the DFL has contributed to the solution.  Obviously there was the recent bill that allocated more money to securing the borders of Israel and Ukraine than to securing the US border.   This bill could also have been called the corporate welfare for arms makers, as various people keep telling us that 1/2 of anything we send to Ukraine will get spent buying arms from the US.   The minority of the bill that dealt with the US border also had major problems.     We could then look at the executive action possibilities that Biden could undertake unilaterally.  We know that illegal immigration has increased exponentially since Biden took office and repealed multiple Trump EOs.   So, it would seem that the narrative should account for the fact that Biden's executive action has increased the border crisis, and that he's done nothing to fix the mess he made worse.   It would also seem that the narrative would have to account for HR2 which has been sitting in the DFL controlled senate since May of 2023 without a vote.

Now, the DFL folx spewing the narrative will likey say that HR2 is a baaaaaaaad bill.   That it will result in horrible things happening and all sorts of evil.   OK, then why not bring it up for a vote and vote it down?   Why not negotiate with the house to make the bill better?   Why just sit on it?

More importantly, why push a narrative that is demonstrably false?

Baptism

Given that baptism is not required for salvation, is a church requiring baptism for membership a red flag or not?

What about a church requiring a second baptism for membership?

Shouldn't baptism (especially if one was baptized before) be a choice of the believer, not a box to check for church membership.

The church in question is otherwise a sound, biblical, active church.

Midnight Train Wreck in GA

As the GA Trump trial debacle continues, evidence was introduced that seems to strongly indicate that both Wade and Willis are likely guilty of perjury.

They have phone records that demonstrate that the relationship began much earlier than when they testified under oath.

It's too bad, because I would have liked to have seen Trump win the GA case outright, but watching this train wreck is much more entertaining.

This Seems Good

Apparently Trump just announced support for a $10k tax credit for families that home school.   This seems like an excellent idea.

Refugees?

Alex White, every one of you idiots who argue against any sorts of controls on immigration should be begging his parents forgiveness right now.  His blood is on your hands.

Clearly there is absolutely zero risk from military aged men, wearing tactical gear, some of them armed coming across the US border improperly.  I'm sure they're just refugees looking for asylum.

"Climate hero" Taylor Swift flies from Tokyo to Vegas to watch her boyfriend play football, then sends her private jet to pick him up so he can join her in Australia.

Look, if I had Taylor's money I would think nothing of dispatching my G or Dassault (she doesn't even buy American) to pick up friends, or hopping in my jet for all sorts of reasons.   I also applaud Taylor and Travis for making extra effort to support the other in their endeavors.

What blows my mind in the blatant hypocrisy of the climate change extremists on these types of things.  They have no problem with P-BO living in multiple huge mansions (without housing immigrants) or Gore, Kerry, and the rest demanding that others make sacrifices they refuse to make.  Even to the point of trying to prevent a private citizen from accessing public records to track the use of private jets by people like Swift.

The New Normal

 https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-13109169/kipp-academy-basketball-team-trans-player-cancels-game.html

"Trans female" injures biological females in a basketball game.   No big deal.

We've seen a number of recent stories about "trans women" being sent to women's prisons where they proceed to rape biological women.

https://wpde.com/news/nation-world/police-called-on-50-year-old-trans-swimmer-sharing-locker-room-with-young-girls-toronto-sun-womens-sports-transgender-lgbtq-sports-athletics-fairness-riley-gaines-canada-ontario

51 year old biological male "identifies" as a teen aged girl in order to share a locker room with actual teen aged girls.

All completely normal and appropriate according to the APL.

SCOTUS

It's interesting how the APL changes it's views about SCOTUS so drastically in order to move their agenda forward.

Most recently we have Biden's latest vote buying scheme where he chortles about how he's unilaterally violating the precedent set by a recent SCOTUS decision regarding his attempts to transfer responsibility for student debt to the American taxpayer.

First of all, the language being used is inherently deceptive.  These loans aren't being forgiven by the lenders, they're being transferred from individuals to the public.

Second, the triumphant email sent to those fortunate few who Joe decided to bless with the largess of the US taxpayers making sure that they knew that it was Joe who was trying to buy their vote.

Third, the fact that he waited until the middle of an election year.

Fourth, the reality that this move will likely be challenged in court, and likely will ultimately be blocked by SCOTUS, yet Biden will pretend and the "recipients" will pretend like this "debt forgiveness" has already happened.

Finally, it's ridiculous for those who bitch constantly about Trump lying to remain silent or support this blatant vote buying scheme.

H/T WK

I had both of these topics on my list of posts to write when I got back, and I see that WK covered both of them.   So, I'll simply link to his posts.

 https://winteryknight.com/2024/02/18/new-study-harvard-professor-finds-no-racial-bias-in-police-shootings/

It'll be interesting to see how all the folx that worship data, will deal with this scholarly study.

 https://winteryknight.com/2024/02/19/biden-doj-sues-tennessee-for-law-against-hiv-positive-prostition/

I could be wrong, but it seems like knowingly infecting with a disease that could likely be terminal is not measurably different from any other form of Manslaughter.

Art

Art has decided to go through all of my posts on Trump and to assess them from his extremely pro Trump position.   Which is fine, and I'm not wasting my time with his posts.

I will point out that to limit one's view on what I've said about Trump only to the posts I've written on my blog, seems to exclude much of what I've said about Trump.

Dan's done this as well.  He'll try to pretend that the only measure of my output on a given topic is posts specifically written about that topic.

Shootings

We've had several high profile shootings over the past couple of weeks, and they've had one thing in common.   That they don't fit the media/left wing narrative.

The shooter at Osteen's church was a trans, illegal immigrant, who was antisemitic, and the story disappeared after a couple of days once those facts became known.

The shooters from the Chiefs parade, were black, and they held off on charges for days and still haven't released the names of the two "juveniles".  Of course this hasn't stopped the release of juveniles names inn other cases, just this one.  Now we know that the gun was stolen, and that the shootings started with a bullshit argument.  Mayor Lucas, who recently cut the budget of the KCPD by over 40 million seems more upset that someone called these thugs, thugs, than about anything else.

Once we found out the the Burnsville MN cop killer was black and shouldn't have been able to have a gun, the story also disappeared.

This is a trend that we're seeing.  That when a shooter fits the narrative (white, right wing) that the story gets tons of play, but when they don't the story just melts away.

Deputy Greg McCowan, was shot to death by a violent criminal, and it'll never be a big story because black guy shoots white cop doesn't fit the narrative either.

Audry Hale the "trans" shooter left a manifesto which somehow was never published by the MSM, and this case also disappeared from the MSM once it was official that it didn't fit the narrative.

Oct 2022, Ja'Von Taylor was verbally abusive to a store clerk.  Off duty firefighter Anthony Santi intervened to protect the clerk.  Taylor responded aggressively and pulled a gun on Santi (FYI Taylor was a felon).  During the fight where Santi was trying to prevent himself from being killed or wounded, Taylor's "girlfriend" grabbed the gun and killed Santi.   The "girlfriend" wasn't charged and Taylor was only charged with the crime of possessing a firearm.    I was under the impression that if a homicide occurred during the commission of a felony, that there would automatically be a murder/manslaughter charge.  I guess there's a two tiered justice system for cities run by democrats.

Nothing to see here

I can’t leave the country without noting the the special counsel just found that Biden knowingly removed and kept more classified documents than Trump is being prosecuted for, but isn’t going to be charged because he’s not capable of standing trial, and is likely to be acquitted because he’s an old guy with memory problems.

Wednesday, February 7, 2024

Sorry. really the last one.

A while back, Bud Light engaged in an ad campaign starring a "trans" person.  In this case it was a biological male who presents as a woman.    Conservatives began a unofficial boycott which was so effective that it resulted in the campaign being cancelled, but not apology or acknowledgement of the mistake by Bud Light.

Now for some reason trump decided to weigh in months later.  He's insisting that A-B is a "great American company", although AB beverage is actually a Belgian owned company, and that their purchase of American wheat should absolve them of consequences.

I'll start by saying that this is one more instance of Trump wasting time and bandwidth on something that's a non issue.   It was old news, and given the reality of Bud Light, it's unlikely that anyone will switch back from whatever bland replacement they've found.   If trump was really worked up about this, he should have started by suggesting that AB beverage start by actually apologizing.

He went on to suggest that he's coming up with a list of other companies that are more worthy of boycott, and suggesting that the boycott move somewhere else.   As if it's impossible to boycott more than one company at a time.   Hell, I've been "boycotting" Target, Wal Mart, and Home Depot for years.  It's not that hard.

He is right that it is a shame to waste the momentum of what happened with Bud Light by not applying it elsewhere, although I suspect that people liked the more ground up aspects of the Bud Light boycott more than they'll like Trump telling them who to boycott.

Finally, the wheat that Bud Light buys is still going to be bought by someone.  If Bud Light really wants to go to the added expense of importing wheat, more power to them.  I suspect that the added cost would out even more financial strain on them and be a net negative.

Ultimately, this is one more example of Trump wasting time, energy, and bandwidth is something that is not worth his time, and is unlikely to help him get reelected.    He's got no time to explain his fiscal policies and how he's not going to "f" it up this time around, but he's got time to lecture us about who to boycott.

Hopefully

Hopefully this'll be my last post for a while.   I'm headed for an extended vacation, and don't plan to spend much, if any, time here after I leave on Friday.   I might occasionally clean out the comment moderation section, and may even have an opportunity to respond to stuff.   But don't count on it, and don't get pissed if I don't answer your questions.

Refugees

I had the chance to listen to some refugees who have been resettled in the US by a ministry our church supports last night.   One in particular was interesting.

A couple from Afghanistan spoke about their need to escape after the Biden administration decided to let the Taliban have Afghanistan and billions of dollars in military equipment.    The husband worked for the US military as a translator and logistics coordinator.   When the military left, they left his family high and dry.   Forced to wait in a line for over two days, although his pregnant wife physically couldn't take that and had to hide with her cousin.  Their family received death threats from the Taliban, which included their two young children, but again the US did almost nothing to get them out.   He and his 3 year old daughter, finally made it on a plane and bounced from refugee camp to refugee camp before finally getting to the US.   She finally was able to get out with their son through Pakistan, and Spain before (over 2 years later) finally being reunited.

It's a heartbreaking story and a story of the utter failure of the US government to have the backs of their local employees who literally risked their lives for our country.

It's also heartbreaking to think of what this adorable 5 year old girl would be condemned to had she stayed in Afganistan.   Condemned to no education, no freedom, and forced into chador.   I for one, am glad that she has a much brighter future.

As a final comment, the husband was joking about how much better it was for men in Afghanistan because there men had complete control over women.    It made me wonder why American feminists are obsessed with eradicating the "patriarchy" in the American church, but haven't quite been concerned about their "sisters" who live in Islamic countries.

Stuff

 https://www.foxnews.com/politics/biden-tells-crowd-he-recently-met-mitterand-former-french-president-who-died-1996

Joe Biden recently spoke about meeting with president Mitterand from Germany.   Unfortunately this must mean that Biden is consulting some really bad mediums.   Mitterand was president of France until 1995, and has been dead since 1996.

This is what the DFL is offering as their best presidential candidate in 2024.

Eric Adams, the NY mayor who thinks a cabinet of all black folk is "diverse", speaks out on the immigrant situation.

“We’re seeing the visuals of what a failed national policy is producing. These others cities are saying the same thing.”

I'm sure that labeling NY a sanctuary city has nothing to do with the flood of immigrants overwhelming the city services, budget, and screwing poor American citizens out of stuff.

https://www.economist.com/united-states/2023/12/07/one-in-five-young-americans-thinks-the-holocaust-is-a-myth?utm_medium=social-media.content.np&utm_source=twitter&utm_campaign=editorial-social&utm_content=discovery.content.evergreen

Thanks to the NEA and school teachers everywhere.   20% of US young people believe that The Holocaust is a myth.     Of course they can tell you all kinds of stuff about "transing" and anal sex, but history, math, science, and the rest, not so much.

The breakdown of spending in the "border security" bill is as follows.

60.1 Billion to protect Ukraine's borders.

20.2 for the US border

14.1 for the Israeli border

10 for "humanitarian aid"  which probably means UNWRA which will go right to Hamas

6.7 for "other"

4.8 for "Indo Pacific"  which has no borders

2.4 for the Red Sea conflict

If this was stripped of all of the extraneous bullshit, then it'd be worth a discussion, but when 80% of the spending isn't for the US border crisis, it seems like a huge lie to pretend that it's a border security" bill.

Groups

It's interesting that one metric of judging the gospel is how often YHWH/Jesus expressed "concern" for specific groups, and in what settings this concern was expressed.

Well, it's safe to say that Israel was one group that YHWH expressed concern over.

He was concerned that Israel would adopt the barbaric practices of those in the land He led them to, and other lands that they conquered.  He was so concerned that His people not be defiled by these barbaric practices, that He took some pretty extreme measures to protect Israel.  Yet those instances of showing concern were somehow bad.

When Israel DID, repeatedly, adopt the pagan practices of their neighbors and otherwise show contempt for YHWH.  He manifested His concern by sending them warning after warning including telling them what the consequences would be.  Yet they ignored Him and they ended up conquered and enslaved.

YHWH showed His concern for Israel by sending His own Son into their midst.  Jesus did all sorts of things to demonstrate His role as Messiah, yet Israel demanded His death.

Jesus showed concern for Matthew the tax collector (a reviled role at that time, especially because of their theft), in that He called Matthew as one of His disciples.

Jesus showed concern to Zaccheus by going to his home, sharing a meal, and sharing The Gospel.   Because of Zachheus sense of guilt for his sin, he publicly repented.

Jesus showed concern for a Roman Centurion who's daughter was ill, by healing her and commending His faith.

Jesus repeatedly spent time with various members of the Jewish ruling elite, answered their questions, and was never recorded condemning them.

Jesus apparently showed concern or something for Joseph of Arimathea, and at least two other Pharisees who argued against having Him killed.

Ultimately, I think that the problem represented by this philosophy is that is easier and neater to deal with people by putting them in a group, and then condemning the group, than it is to deal with people as individuals and based on their individual actions and thoughts.    It's obviously easier to make facile generalizations like "The poor/marginalized are X.". or "The Pharisees are Y.".   "Or "The Roman Army was a tool of oppression.".  Yet we see Jesus dealing with people as individuals, not as just a part of a group.

Jesus could have chosen to avoid the people in certain groups, yet for some reason He identified with people as individuals.

Perhaps the best example is the Samaritan woman at the well.   The circumstances of their meeting would have suggested to most Jews that this Samaritan woman was twice unclean.  Obviously she was Samaritan, and just as obviously she was a woman who'd struggled with sexual issues.  Not only did Jesus ignore those two red flags, He was able to speak to her in a way that addressed her as an individual.   He was able to demonstrate His knowledge of her past, yet offer her mercy and hope.  I suspect that the folks who lump people in groups, would likely have looked at her checked off the Samaritan box, checked off the "loose woman" box and walked away from the well until she was done drawing her water.

Maybe the problem is thinking that Jesus is limited to the boxes we use to characterize "the other".

Really?

Much like the post from a while back, the DFL obsession with bringing in immigrants no matter what puts those who failed to follow our immigration laws in a position where the tax dollars of the US poor and middle class are supporting them.

How is it possible that these unspent COVID funds can magically become a slush fund for government support of those who chose not to follow immigration laws?   How is it that these funds weren't returned to the feds, or used for people who suffered because of the response to COVID?

I guess MSNBC wasn't expecting this.    Is it a trend?  I don't know.  Is it a thing, probably.   Do Snoop Dogg and Killer Mike have any influence with their fans when it comes to voting?   Who knows.

I did the math a while ago, and if I remember right it wouldn't take much of the reflexive black DFL vote to switch or not vote to put Biden in a really difficult spot this November.   It's probably possible to increase the % of blacks who vote and who vote for Trump and see the same result, although it would probably take more people to achieve the same effect.

This isn't a prediction or anything else, it's just something to watch.

We all know that Biden has a history of lying, making shit up, random unintelligible gibberish, and plagiarism, but  this is beyond the pale.

"This is hysterical, check this out. After getting caught plagiarizing and lying about a bunch of things in 1987, Biden dropped out of the Presidential race. He was asked about claims he made about being an activist for civil rights and he came clean, admitting that none of it was true. Years later he resurrected the lie and in 2012, while speaking to the NAACP, Biden claimed that he would go to "Reverend Wright's" church before heading out to desegregate movie theaters. In 2014 Biden replaced Wright with Reverends Moyer and Holloway. Both Reverends were asked about Biden, neither remembered Biden ever coming to their church. In 2020 Biden brought Reverend Otis Herring into the story. Before he died Herring said he only met Biden once in the 90's. The administrator of the church who had been there for decades, Phyllis Drummond, said that Biden never attended the church. Not one time. A couple weeks ago Biden replaced Herring in the story with an unnamed female Bishop.😂 It's so strange how Black America lets Biden get away with this stuff."

When that bastion of conservative propaganda  publishes something like this, it seems likely that you can ice skate in Hell.

It's honestly pretty brave to publish something like this in a paper like the NYT.

Monstrosity

What in the name of all that is holy is the "bipartisan" "border security" bill that's coming out of the senate?    It's more interested in protecting the borders of Ukraine than of the US.   How in the world is setting a "limit" on illegal immigration that can be ignored, and redefining "asylum" going to make things better?

What a joke.

I'm seeing reports that this hideous piece of crap "border security" bill was primarily negotiated by Mitch McConnell, but that he's thrown Lankford and others under the bus by putting them out in front.    It also sounds like Mitch is having increasing mental acuity and other health issues as well.     Yet, some people think that the voters of KY should be able to keep voting for him no matter what.    He's becoming another example of why some sort of age limits might be worth considering for congress.

Matthew

It's interesting that Matthew started his Gospel with the genealogy of Jesus, one wonders why he might have done so.

It's generally believed that Matthew is primarily aimed at a Jewish audience, so it's reasonable to conclude that if one was making a case for Jesus as Messiah that starting with a genealogy that shows Him as descending from Abraham and David would be crucial to making that case.   It would also be crucial to making the case that Jesus fulfilled the Messianic prophecies.

"These twelve Jesus sent out with the following instructions: “Do not go among the Gentiles or enter any town of the Samaritans. Go rather to the lost sheep of Israel. As you go, proclaim this message: ‘The kingdom of heaven has come near.’ Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse those who have leprosy,[a] drive out demons. Freely you have received; freely give."

Strange that when He sent His disciples out that he never mentioned that they should do anything but proclaim the Kingdom of Heaven, heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse lepers, and drive out demons.  Not one mention of giving food to the hungry or jobs to the poor.   Quite the opposite, in that He expected the people to give food TO the disciples, how strange.

"25 At that time Jesus said, “I praise you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and learned, and revealed them to little children. 26 Yes, Father, for this is what you were pleased to do."

Interesting, Jesus is pretty clear that He is hiding the things of the Father from some people.

"27 “All things have been committed to me by my Father. No one knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and those to whom the Son chooses to reveal him."

Again Jesus is clear that he only ones who will know The Son and The Father are those who The father chooses.

" 14 But the Pharisees went out and plotted how they might kill Jesus."

Oh, look.  The pharisees started plotting to kill Jesus relatively early and  did so for religious reasons.

"

15 Aware of this, Jesus withdrew from that place. A large crowd followed him, and he healed all who were ill. 16 He warned them not to tell others about him. 17 This was to fulfill what was spoken through the prophet Isaiah:

18 “Here is my servant whom I have chosen,
    the one I love, in whom I delight;
I will put my Spirit on him,
and he will proclaim justice to the nations.
19 He will not quarrel or cry out;
no one will hear his voice in the streets.
20 A bruised reed he will not break,
and a smoldering wick he will not snuff out,
till he has brought justice through to victory.
21     In his name the nations will put their hope.”

Again Jesus warns people not to tell others about Him.

" 28 But if it is by the Spirit of God that I drive out demons, then the kingdom of God has come upon you."

If demons was some sort of secret code for mental illness, why would Jesus not correct the misunderstandings of the Jews, instead of reinforcing His command over the demons?

That's enough for now.  Just pointing out that Dan's cursory eisegesis of Matthew skipped over the parts that don't support his hunches.

Trump Trial Stuff

 Interesting bit of trivia.

In 1981 Mar-A-Lago sold for $20,000,000.  Somehow Mar-A-Lago has been decreed by a judge in NY to have magically been exempted from normal property appreciation and is worth $18,000,000.   This is amazing.  The historical rate of appreciation is 4% per year, across the US.  I'm not much of a math person, but it seems reasonable to conclude that based on the average, that Mar-A-Lago would be worth over  over $30,000,000 after 10 years, and that the worth would likely continue to grow.  It's completely reasonable to conclude that it would be worth $70,000,000 today.  This figure doesn't take into account any improvements that might have been done since 1981, or the fact that a beachfront property like this would likely appreciate more than 4% per year.

Just one more example of how the judge in Trump's fraud trial, ignored actual evidence and just made shit up.

It looks like the Trump team had a win today with a continuance that'll push one trial back past the elections.    Not to mention the GA case circling the toilet due to prosecutorial misconduct.

It is looking like the strategy to convict Trump of something before the election might not be working.

IF I was Trump and IF I won in November, the first thing I would do is pardon myself from everything.

Hopefully one of these links will get to the video.   Make sure to listen to it all.

Listening to this black woman go off on the government because of their treatment of immigrants is amazing.   The fact that the democrat governor of MA and the democrat (racist) mayor of Boston decided to deny access to a community rec center to residents who live in and pay taxes in the community has her pissed off.   Listening to the while liberal woman make excuses for this and for their declaration of "sanctuary cities", is pretty damn funny.  These idiots are reaping the whirlwind that they sewed, because of their commitment to performative virtue signaling

I wonder if the woman realizes that her votes are what resulted in this situation, if the people she put in office are the ones who did this?

Obviously, the entitlement that the woman demonstrates is problematic but at the same time when a city government buys off it's citizens with a "free" rec center that parents come to depend on for it's services,  the city government has clearly broken it's promise to it's taxpaying citizens.

One more happy taxpayer cheering on the city for giving his tax dollars away to illegal aliens.
