A Few More Tidbits

Fortunately the GOP jumped on this, and determined that the votes would not be counted.  Nonetheless, the fact that the MI system allowed over a hundred thousand bad votes seems concerning.   At least we know this now.

This notion that the left can use all sorts of pejorative terms to refer to their political enemies, yet hypocritically claim they want unity is simply bullshit.   It's the same sort of thing Dan does when he unleashes all sorts of vitriol towards us, then tries to pretend the we're all "brothers" or some such idiocy.  It's good to see CBS calling this out.

Between this and the P2025 ads, Harris is just making shit up and her minions just mindlessly accept everything she says.

Histrionics

The recent spate of histrionics devoted to calling Trump a NAZI, Hitler, fascist, and the like is ridiculous.  Especially the trope that having a rally in MSG (Which has changed location at least 3 times since 1939) automatically makes it a NAZI rally because some American NAZI's had a rally there in 1939, is simply stupid.  Especially as the DFL has held many conventions and rallies there over the years.   That the MSM is parroting this crap just raises more questions about journalists being neutral.  Watching 19,500 people of all demographic groups gather for the Trump rally, with another 50+k outside kind of belies the whole leftist narrative.   That they are reduced to screaming "Hitler" doesn't seem to bode well for the Harris/Walz campaign.   Nor does the Walz news that he was screwing the daughter (at least it wasn't a son) of a CCP official when he was in Chins during Tienanmen square.  Harris trying to dictate the terms under which she'd go on Rogan (as if she's deserves some sort of special treatment) isn't a good look either.   Finally both polling data and gambling data doesn't favor Harris/Walz either.  Obviously we'll see what happens next week, but it seems that the Harris/Walz campaign has pretty much lost it's joy and substituted it for vitriol.   It's almost like they want one more attempt on Trump before the election.

NFL

Who in the world thought that the Germans should be subjected to the Giants/Panthers this weekend.   Thank goodness they drink a lot over there, hopefully they'll forget the game.

I'm sorry, but Chicago is screwed.   They got Caleb and he's been OK, but the coaching and culture are going to destroy him if changes aren't made.  Watching him as they lost on a Hail Mary, which wasn't helped by an idiot DB, tells me that he's frustrated and there were already questions about his attitude from USC.    Chicago needs to clean house quickly as their schedule gets tougher as the season goes on.   Hopefully they can salvage something because they have plenty of talent, but clearly there is something wrong.

FYI, the officials still aren't very good.   That incomplete pass by Pittsburgh sure looked good, although it seems like it was the technically correct call.

Mea Culpa

One of my criticisms of Trump in his first term was his inability to actually hire the best people he promised he'd hire and put them in positions of authority.  It's good to know that Trump agrees with me.

In his Rogan interview he was clear that he was expected to bow to donors and others in filling positions and he didn't know how to navigate that situation so he went along.   It's still disappointing that he gave in, but at least he's acknowledging it.

This time around he's doing things totally differently.  He's self funding his transition team and focusing on who he brings in, not on who he's expected to bring in.   He's been intentional in including some who are not 100% on his "side".   He's also refused intel briefings which prevent him from being accused of leaking the information he's given there.

IMO, both of those things seem to be positive and should bode well if he wins.

Follow the Science, Until it Conflicts With Your Narrative

 https://winteryknight.com/2024/10/27/new-study-significant-parallels-found-between-anorexia-and-gender-dysphoria-2/

I'll be honest, I don't recall ever hearing the  anorexia counter to the "trans" narrative, but it actually makes sense intuitively.  Both require that we ignore the physical reality of one's physical body and replace that with a non physical feeling to justify making damaging changes to the physical body.

Now we have some Science to back up that intuition.  It's from Europe, and most leftists tend to ignore anything on "trans" issues that comes from Europe.  Nonetheless, the evidence against the "Dan" narrative on "trans" issues continues to mount.

This thread is amazing is many ways.  That there are Mormons who would support Harris is amazing in and of itself, that an ad with some dud masturbating to porn is the tipping point is even more amazing.

The fact that the Harris campaign or it's supporters are so desperate that they need to mobilize the basement INCEL, masturbating, porn addict vote tells you what they think of Harris' chances.

As usual, the pro Harris idiots will stay silent on this as well.

King of What

There's a song that is called King of My Heart, it's pretty popular.   Without diving into the theology, message, and all the rest, I wanted to note one thing.

If YHWH/Jesus is the King of your heart, that means unequivocally that you are not king of your heart.

That seems like something worth noting.   There's room for only one king.

Worship?

I'm just going to say this.

Any pastor who gives an actively campaigning political candidate access to his/her pulpit during a worship service has utterly failed their responsibilities to their congregation.    A worship service is not the place for a political campaign event.

At a very minimum every church that does this should immediately lose their tax exempt status.

To hell with the data!     (That's a bad Stryper reference for those who might have missed it.  But now the melody will be stuck in your head.)

1000 Words

Ok, this is a picture which seems to be offered as a representation of "good" people.  It seems to be an image of a church full of people from earlier in the 20th century.    We don't know who these people are, we don't know where the picture was taken, in short we really know nothing about these people except how they appear.   They're all well dressed, groomed, well behaved, and the like.  They appear to perfectly fit the stereotype of "good" people.

Let's look beyond mere physical appearance.  Assuming this was taken in the 1940's, we could apply some crime data to this picture and conclude that @ 10% of those pictured committed "criminal homicide", @50% "robbery", and @45% aggravated assault.     Well, that might change one's perception of how "good" these folks were, wouldn't it?    What is the likelihood that there are some adulterers in this picture?   Wife beaters?   Drunks?  Embezzlers?  Tax Cheats?

Or what about geography?    What if this picture was taken in Selma AL?   Wouldn't it be reasonable to conclude that a church full of white folks in Selma just might be a bit racist?   Wouldn't it be reasonable to conclude that they might support segregation and Jim Crow?    Maybe they all voted democrat because the wanted to continue those things.    Wouldn't that chance one's perception?

Finally, this picture makes the point I've tried to make for a while.  If all you do to determine who's "good" is look at the exterior of people, when they're at their very best, maybe that's not enough information.

2 Sports Posts in One Day

While I haven't spent a lot of time watching the WNBA at all, until the Lynx played in the finals, it's hard to ignore the conversation around the league this year.

They had the best year ever, they made more money, sold more tickets, and things were generally looking up.   Some of that can be traced to Caitlin Clark, who spent the season getting crap from other players.   But, shockingly the league still lost a lot of money.   That's right, they  couldn't even break even for the year with all the extra cash.    So, what do the players do?   They do the only rational thing for employees of a money losing business to do, they opted out of their contract and essentially went on strike for more money.   Are they stupid?   Are they unaware of how businesses work?  Do they think the money magically appears for them?  Are they incredibly short sighted?

I'd answer yes to all of the above.  They actually had the chance to build their league into something self sustaining, and they chose selfishness.

I get it, they don't get paid as much as other pro athletes, probably because they don't generate as much revenue as other pro athletes.   Strangely enough, many of them get paid more to play overseas.   Yet they continue to play here for less.   Sounds like they're making a choice to me.

In a detached way, I'd like to see the WNBA succeed.  I'll probably never be a huge fan, but I think that a successful women's BBall league is a good thing as long as it's self sustaining.

It's Just a Little Fraud, Don't Worry About it.

There's no meaningful voter fraud going on, they said.

1.  There are likely more fraudulent voter registrations than these.

2.  2500 votes in the right districts in the right state can swing an election.

3.  It won't matter how much of this we see, how often these are DFL voters, and how loudly we complain.  There are too many who'll make more excuses about how this sort of thing is bad.

The VA governor is literally suing the Biden/Harris administration to get ineligible voters off of the rolls before the election, election interference?

Call me crazy, but I was raised to consider voting as the scared right of US citizens and to see that right debased for political gain is disgusting.

Millions of tax dollars spent on a "scientific" study, which didn't validate the presumptions of those who undertook it, so they choose to hide the results and stick with the bullshit narrative that sheep like Dan blindly repeated for months.

CBS and the Revered MSM Fail Again.

A while back CBS aired an interview with Harris that was heavily edited, and in one case had an answer to one question replaced with the answer to another question.  (The fact the Harris' answers are that interchangeable doesn't seem to bother anyone).   Now CBS Evening News leads off with a story based on an unverified single source, and where everyone else present for the events in questions has publicly debunked the claim the story is based on.

An aside.   Back when I was studying for my communications degree, I was required to take classes in things like reporting and law and ethics in media.   One thing that was emphasized was the an unverified single source was not sufficient to verify a claim and run a story.    Especially if all of the other participants denied the source.    This is one more significant breach of ethics by CBS, and by other MSM outlets who ran the story.

To be fair, multiple MSM outlets did NOT run this story for the reasons I've pointed out.  Because it's bad journalism.

The real question is why.    The incident in question happened years ago, yet somehow remained unreported until now a short time before the election.   This certainly seems like crude, and obvious election interference which strangely doesn't bother one side of the aisle at all.  Hell, the candidates and their surrogates are using this bullshit story as fodder for all sorts of lies in their stump speeches.

As I've said before, anyone who has cited Trump's lack of honesty as a reason not to vote for him cannot vote for Harris and be taken seriously.

NFL

While I didn't watch TNF last night, I certainly heard about and saw the video of the no call on Sam Darnold in the end zone.

In a world where the "refs did it" is a popular narrative, regardless of the facts, this no call has stirred up some controversy.

I'll start by noting that it absolutely looked like a blatant face mask, there is no question in my mind that it should have been called.    Yet, it also played literally no part in the final outcome of the game.

What I find interesting is that this is clearly the type of play that could cause injury.   In a league where player safety, and especially QB safety, is allegedly a priority this should have been called.

Ultimately, it comes down the the fact that the NFL doesn't care enough about the integrity of the game to hire full time officials, and/or hold officials publicly accountable for their mistakes.    Which is too bad, because the NFL is hugely popular, and the poor officiating could potentially drive fans away.

Who Would Have Thought That the Prro-Trump Coalition Would be the More Diverse One?

"A number of my good friends and family have been surprised about my decision to support for president. They have been surprised because my political giving history has been mostly to Democrats, my voting registration has typically been Democrat (in NY, you must be registered to the party in order to vote in the primary, and usually the Republican candidate has no chance to win), and many of our philanthropic initiatives have supported issues that are consistent with Democratic priorities. All of the above said, I have always considered myself to be a centrist and/or moderate, and I have voted for the candidate and supported the issues and policies that I believe are in the best interest of the country. Some have accused me of supporting Trump because doing so will somehow benefit me financially. Fortunately, I do not need any financial benefits as I and my family have well more than we need. I have also committed to give away the substantial majority of my resources at or by the time I am no longer, so I don't consider personal financial benefits in the determination of whom I support for office. Some have suggested that I am supporting Trump because I am seeking a position in his administration. To be clear, I haven't been offered one and I wouldn't take a job in the administration (I love my job and it is the wrong time in my life to work in an administration). I will, however, do everything else I can to help the president succeed in helping our country and its citizens. All of the above said, I am an investor who manages funds that own some of the best, principally American, businesses in the world. In a better governed and managed America, these business will do better and increase in value faster. One might therefore argue that being 'long' America is somehow a conflict, so I thought to disclose this potential 'conflict' here. Some of my friends and family who support are ok with my supporting Trump, but don't want me to attempt to convince others to support him. Because I strongly believe that a Trump administration will be better for the country and the world than a Harris administration, I think it is important to share my thinking to the extent it helps others come to the right conclusion. Three months ago, when I endorsed Trump on the day of the first assassination attempt, I promised to share my thinking about why I came to this conclusion in a future more detailed post. I intend to do so in possibly more than one post, with the first, this one, explaining the actions and policies of the Biden/Harris administration and Democratic Party that were the catalysts for my losing total confidence in the administration and the Party. To be clear, my decision to vote for Trump is not an endorsement of everything he has done or will do because he is an imperfect man. Unlike a marriage or a business partnership where there are effectively unlimited alternatives, in this election, we have only two viable choices. Of the two, I believe that Trump is by far the superior candidate despite his flaws and mistakes he has made in the past. As always, I welcome your feedback on how I could be wrong and on how the below actions and policies I outline below might actually have been good for America. I have always believed that the best way to get to the truth is to hear the best arguments on all sides of an issue. While the 33 actions I describe below are those of the Democratic Party and the Biden/Harris administration, they are also the actions and policies that unfortunately our most aggressive adversaries would likely implement if they wanted to destroy America from within, and had the ability to take control of our leadership.

These are the 33:
 (1) open the borders to millions of immigrants who were not screened for their risk to the country, dumping them into communities where the new immigrants overwhelm existing communities and the infrastructure to support the new entrants, at the expense of the historic residents,
(2) introduce economic policies and massively increase spending without regard to their impact on inflation and the consequences for low-income Americans and the increase in our deficit and national debt,
 (3) withdraw from Afghanistan, abandoning our local partners and the civilians who worked alongside us in an unprepared, overnight withdrawal that led to American casualties and destroyed the lives of Afghani women and girls for generations, against the strong advice of our military leadership, and thereafter not showing appropriate respect for their loss at a memorial ceremony in their honor,
(4) introduce thousands of new and unnecessary regulations in light of the existing regulatory regime that interfere with our businesses’ ability to compete, restraining the development of desperately needed housing, infrastructure, and energy production with the associated inflationary effects,
 (5) modify the bail system so that violent criminals are released without bail,
 (6) destroy our street retailers and communities and promote lawlessness by making shoplifting (except above large thresholds) no longer a criminal offense,
 (7) limit and/or attempt to limit or ban fracking and LNG so that U.S. energy costs increase substantially and the U.S. loses its energy independence,
(8) promote DEI ideologies that award jobs, awards, and university admissions on the basis of race, sexual identity and gender criteria, and teach our students and citizens that the world can only be understood as an unfair battle between oppressors and the oppressed, where the oppressors are only successful due to structural racism or a rigged system and the oppressed are simply victims of an unfair system and world, (9) educate our elementary children that gender is fluid, something to be chosen by a child, and promote hormone blockers and gender reassignment surgeries to our youth without regard to the longer-term consequences to their mental and physical health, and allow biological boys and men to compete in girls and women's sports, depriving girls and women of scholarships, awards, and other opportunities that they would have rightly earned otherwise,
(10) encourage and celebrate massive protests and riots that lead to the burning and destruction of local retail and business establishments while at the same time requiring schools to be shuttered because of the risk of Covid-19 spreading during large gatherings,
(11) encourage and celebrate anti-American and anti-Israel protests and flag burning on campuses around the country with no consequences for the protesters who violate laws or university codes and policies,
 (12) allow antisemitism to explode with no serious efforts from the administration to quell this hatred, (13) mandate vaccines that have not been adequately tested nor have their risks been properly considered compared with the potential benefits adjusted for the age and health of the individual, censoring the contrary advice of top scientists around the world,
 (14) shut down free speech in media and on social media platforms that is inconsistent with government policies and objectives,

Data

ACLED, the Armed Conflict Location and Event Data organization, published data that shows that during the summer of 2020 over 500 (left wing) riots associated with BLM took place in the US.   Somehow all the media ever talks about is J6.   I'd like to do a deeper dive into their research to determine if they have data that covers riots associated with BLM going back to 2014, and overlay that with the recent pro Hamas riots/protests/occupations of 2024.   It would be interesting to see data that covers the majority of riots associated with BLM and other left wing causes over the last 10 years

Harris Interview

Kamala Harris, when pressed on her “Turn the Page” campaign slogan keeps repeating that the problem is “the past 10 years”, ignoring the fact that 6 of the past 10 years have been presided over by P-BO and Biden/Harris.    What a bizarre notion.

She also insisted that the US was “a democracy”.

She’s not very bright.  I’m shocked that she's been anointed to this role after recieving zero votes.

Idiot Educators

Up here in the People's republic there is quite the uproar about the upcoming loss of federal COVID funding for schools.   Now, to the best of my knowledge the COVID "threat" is virtually gone and there's no significant risk of future outbreaks on a massive scale.   Yet, several years after COVID ceased to be  problem our schools are still clinging to this increased funding.   They aren't even pretending that it's being spent on COVID related expenses, they just got used to the extra "free" money from the feds and want people from across the country to fund our local schools.   It seems surprising that these districts are so stupid as to have thought that this temporary, emergency, funding for COVID isn't going to last forever and for non-COVID related expenses.

Heaven forbid we look at the damage done to students due to the response to COVID.

The unmitigated idiocy of DFL politicians and their desire to pander to their captive groups is staggering.  That Clinton thought this was appropriate is simply stupid.

So the Biden/Harris DOJ is suing now to stop Virginia from enforcing a law that has been on the books for 20 years, but they're not interfering with an election or trying to let non citizens vote.

What could possibly go wrong by allowing un-vetted, military aged males, from countries with a history of terrorist activity, into the US unsupervised?

Let me get this straight.  The Biden/Harris administration lied about the employment numbers for months and campaigned on the false numbers, now they've lied about crime statistics and have been campaigning on those lies as well.

Given that so much of "Science" is now analyzing models, it'd probably make sense to start by analyzing what goes into those models.

Harris is an Idiot, and Other Stuff

 https://www.newsweek.com/kamala-harris-plagiarism-claim-smart-crime-1968831

Harris plagiarized sections of her book on criminal justice (ironic that theft is a crime), from Wikipedia and this doesn't seem to bother her rabid supporters.    The fact that she was so lazy as to plagiarize from Wikipedia, just makes it worse.

That so many people are so committed to believing these hoaxed perpetrated by the MSM when they've been dis proven for so long, shows a high level commitment to slavishly believing whatever they are told as long as it comes from the approved sources.

"My experience in conversation with narcissists is that generally they talk about themselves and don’t ask outbound questions. They are almost never interested in your life or what you think. The Trump I’ve seen in longform podcasts comes across as gracious and not self-absorbed. I was surprised to see him asking his interlocutors a lot of questions from a position of actually wanting to learn about their experience/life and what they know. He did this with

. It’s almost like he’s a different person when he’s not in an adversarial interview. You can challenge him, as did about his treatment of Mike Pence / Jan 6 and did about the impact of his rhetoric on the all in pod, but if he’s not in a combative mode, then you get insights and direct answers out of him. The press has for so long framed themselves as the victim vis-a-vis Trump, complaining about how he calls them the “Enemy of the People.” And sure at times he has not treated them kindly, especially at his rallies. But now that the podcasters are having a go and doing the media’s job, it’s pretty clear to me that Trump’s antagonism to the corporate media is almost entirely their fault. To be considered in the good graces of their fellow media elites who saw themselves as the last defensive line of the Resistance, journalists were in chronic performative opposition to him. The result is that he was treated very badly and constantly maligned; many of his policies that were characterized as racist or borne out of bigotry that were rolled forward under the Biden admin, were no longer racist or bigoted. The American people are not stupid. They see through this. Among the fissures that animate this election, one of the major ones is the alternative media world of podcasting vs the mainstream press. Current trends don’t bode well for the latter. America will be all the better for it."

I think this makes a couple of good points.

1. That "Journalism" or what used to be "journalism" has passed into the hands of those outside the traditional media, and that's not a bad thing.

2.  That the image of Trump portrayed in the MSM, may not be completely accurate.

 https://www.dailyjournal.com/article/320947-police-frown-on-s-f-da-s-drug-arrest-plan

So while Harris has a record of jailing low level drug offenders (predominantly black), she also wanted to turn drug offenders loose the first two times they got caught. How anyone can take her seriously at this point is beyond me.

"Christians, you have the choice between a non-Christian and an ANTI-Christian. Vote accordingly. God has sovereignly given us the choice between Donald Trump and Kamala Harris. The choice is really simple. One of these candidates will be FAR worse for our country than the other one. Kamala will attempt to legalize abortion at any stage of pregnancy at the federal level. Trump wants to leave it to the states. Kamala wants to throw pro-lifers in prison. She wants to indoctrinate, castrate, and sterilize your kids. She wants to flood our nation with immigrants to attain a permanent electoral majority. Trump opposes the weaponization of the DOJ against pro-lifers, he opposes the castration and sterilization of children, and is dead set on closing our border. You’re not voting for a pastor. You’re voting for a candidate who can and hopefully will accomplish some of your political priorities. Trump may not be a Christian, but at least he isn’t Anti-Christian. You have a chance come November 5th to peacefully oppose the rising tide of leftist tyranny. Please do not waste your vote."

When Revered Journalists Go Bad

Kamala Harris sat for a rare interview with a revered journalism institution, 60 minutes, recently.   As usual her answers were incoherent, and one answer in particular was really bad.  It was so bad that the real journalists at the revered 60 Minutes, a part of revered CBS news, decided that they would edit the answer from a totally different question into the interview as if it was her answer to the question asked.    Now it's been a while since I got me degree in journalism, so I may be wrong, but I seem to remember that this sort of manipulation was a journalistic no-no.   Especially for real journalists with revered journalism institutions.

What this sounds like, to me, is election interference.  It's a deliberate attempt to portray Harris falsely as a way to help her get elected.   Again, it's been a while, but I'm pretty sure that using the public airwaves for this sort of thing is a journalistic no-no.

Unfortunately, 60 minutes has a history of this sort of interference.   Remember when they insisted that it was impossible to verify the Hunter Biden laptop?   Well, it was verified, no thanks to folks like those at 60 Minutes.

It also seems unseemly that someone in charge of a broadcast news division would be donating large amounts of money to Harris.

Maybe real journalists don't still adhere to the ethics I learned back in the day, maybe it's now perfectly fine to manipulate interviews to benefit one candidate.    Maybe we shouldn't revere these real journalists as much as we do.   Maybe it's significant that about 98% of MSM journalists are left leaning.

Who knows, my faith in journalistic ethics has been shaken.

Holy Context, Batman!!

"Just as Jesus noted: We will know good trees by their good fruit and we can know good people by their good actions and lives."

Except Jesus didn't actually say what Dan claims He said.

He did say:  "15 “Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves. 16 You will know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes from thornbushes or figs from thistles? 17 Even so, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. 18 A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a bad tree bear good fruit. 19 Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. 20 Therefore by their fruits you will know them."

Jesus was literally talking about "false prophets", yet Dan has twisted Jesus' words to support his hunches.  He was specifically talking about  drawing a distinction between "prophets" who spoke the Truth and were in accordance with Jesus' Gospel, and those who were "false".

But, what happens when we look at the context, and not just Dan's cherry picked paraphrase.

"3 “Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it. 14 [c]Because narrow is the gate and [d]difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it."

Jesus precedes Dan's proof text, with a clear statement that causes problems for Dan and his "almost all people are good"  as well as his hunches about Heaven and Hell.     Clearly Jesus is telling us that few people will find the "way which leads to life" and many will find the "way that leads to destruction".   Now Dan has been explicit about what he believes will NOT happen in Hell, but incredibly vague about what he believes WILL happen.    This raises the paraphrase of Dan's ever present question.   "Will YHWH destroy those "good" people who've only committed a few minor sins?"   Clearly Dan disputes that YHWH will punish people eternally, but he's been silent on destroying them.

Then Jesus goes on to say:

"

21 “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. 22 Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’ 23 And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’"

Jesus seems pretty clear that many people who do "good" things in His "name" will be cast out as people who practice "lawlessness".    So, maybe Jesus is telling us that looking at the "good" things people do, even in His name is not enough to determine whether or not people are "good".     Because it sure sounds like people who "practice lawlessness", is not "good" people even if they appeared to be.

This seems like one more instance of Dan cherry picking a proof text, paraphrasing that text, and using his paraphrase (without the context) to support one of his hunches.
