Sorry, really last one for today

It has been alleged that men having sexual intercourse with men is a healthy pracitice.

Yet if one reads the latest numbers from the CDC, one might be forgiven for concluding that this is not, in fact, a healthy practice.  One could argue that engaging in a practice which is statistically likely to lead to any one of a number of negative health outcomes could be reasonably called harmful.

"P&S syphilis among men who have sex with men (MSM) has been increasing since at least 2000. In 2014, rates of P&S syphilis increased among MSM, who account for 83 percent of reported cases among men when the sex of the partner is known. Also concerning is that more than half of MSM (51 percent) diagnosed with syphilis in 2014 were also HIV-positive. Infection with syphilis can cause sores on the genitals, which make it easier to transmit and acquire HIV.
Syphilis is currently the only STD for which information on the sex of the sex partner is reported. However, a growing body of evidence indicates that MSM are experiencing similar increases in gonorrhea and chlamydia infections– underscoring the need to further understand what is contributing to the rise.
Gay and bisexual men face a combination of social, epidemiologic, and individual risk factors that can fuel high levels of STDs. Higher prevalence of infection within sexual networks increases the likelihood of acquiring an STD with each sexual encounter."

Because, you know, if the government says it then it must be true.

Additional material from the report.

"Gay, bisexual, and other men who have sex with men made up an estimated 2% of the population but 55% of people living with HIV in the United States in 2013. If current diagnosis rates continue, 1 in 6 gay and bisexual men will be diagnosed with HIV in their lifetime, including 1 in 2 black/African American gay and bisexual men, 1 in 4 Hispanic/Latino gay and bisexual men, and 1 in 11 white gay and bisexual men."

I wonder how the "if it causes harm, it's immoral" crowd deviates from their own view here.

They excuse or ignore the clearly obvious harm inherent in this activity because............love. Who are doctors and medical type people to tell others who and how to express their love and commitment.

I believe they ignore this because they see it as an argument for SSM. If these people were in a "loving, monogamous" relationship that somehow only a license from the state can insure, the problem of spreading disease would cease. Of course there is the problem of whether or not they've also redefined "monogamy", but that's another issue.

Also, and honest review of the proven hazards of homosexual sexual practices clearly shows that the damage inflicted by continued engagement of such practices, and the consequences of that damage, does not require one to ever mention STD's in order to oppose the behavior in the first place. In that way, two previously chaste and celibate homosexuals who begin a sexual relationship (first timers for both), risk serious medical consequences that are almost completely unknown to their heterosexual counterparts.

Art, that is based on the false premise that monogamy as it has been practiced for quite some time is the ideal or norm for homosexuals. Yet there is ample evidence to didpute this premise, it always comes back to "I know someone..." instead of looking at the evidence.
