I think it's largely accurate. I don't think it's a problem if the reason he loves this country is largely due to how he's able to profit, and when he saw how politics had been operating, it's not hard to see how it could get in the way of his ambitions...and by extension, how it gets in the way of the ambitions of all Americans who were raised to believe in the concept of "the United States of America".

My late father-in-law had a very similar love for "The Art of the Deal". He loved to haggle and his business allowed him to do that as a means of making a living...or perhaps his business provoked in him the realization that he loves to haggle. He'd do it in typical stores, at craft fairs and of course in buying cars. It's part of the entrepreneurial spirit which helped make America great. Now we have a guy in the White House who is exploiting that spirit within him to make it great again and he's doing just that.

Regarding the 16: Obviously they are outliers, simply because they reject the narrative (not because the narrative is crap).
