"Why I Despise Leftist Thought (and You Should Too) I'm not talking about Democrats, climate cultists, or LGBTQ activists. I'm talking about the underlying values and ideas that possess them. "People don't have ideas; ideas have people." — Carl Jung Leftism elevates equality and compassion to the top of the value hierarchy. At scale, this is catastrophic. First: Equality. You can't make the weak stronger without effort from them. But you can make the strong weaker... easily. For instance, physically: To get stronger, you must lift heavy weights. No one can do it for you. To "equalize" strength, though? Just injure or restrain the stronger one. The same logic applies to intelligence, beauty, creativity, talent. True equality demands restraining greatness. In essence, clipping the wings of anyone who can fly. Second: Compassion. Merriam-Webster definition: "Sympathetic consciousness of others' distress with a desire to alleviate it." At scale, disastrous. I don't believe we should aim to eliminate suffering. Say that out loud and people recoil: "YOU WANT PEOPLE TO SUFFER NEEDLESSLY?!" Who said it's needless? Greatness requires suffering. Every comfort-obsessed person I know ends up miserable and mediocre. Every person who voluntarily embraces discomfort becomes admirable in some way. Suffering isn't inherently good or bad. Rather, it's the attitude toward it. Involuntary suffering creates trauma. Voluntary suffering breeds transformation. Life is hierarchical and soaked in suffering. When your supreme goal is flattening hierarchies and erasing all suffering, you become anti-life. Reject suffering → reject life. Reject differences (inequality) → reject life. That's why these ideas lead to anti-life stances: - "I should abort because I can't afford it." (As if no life beats life on a budget.) - "If I feel wrong in my body, sterilize it." (Comfort over creating more life.) - "Western civilization is evil because of inequality." (Smash it.) - "The nuclear family creates unfair hierarchies." (Dismantle it.) - "Cheap energy hurts the planet." (Sacrifice human flourishing for Earth's "well-being.") If you let these ideas possess you, a Faustian demon slips in: "All that comes to be deserves to perish wretchedly; 'twere better nothing would begin." —Mephistopheles (Goethe's Faust)"
FWIW, Interesting doesn't mean that I agree with everything said. It means, interesting.
