Prediction

I’m going to make some predictions.

1.  That there are enough Democrats who want to at least appear to be somewhat non partisan to allow this break/investigation to pass.
2.  That if the result of this investigation is anything less than the wholesale destruction of Kavanaugh’s character, that the left will refuse to accept the results.
3.  The GOP will never learn that the left will never be satisfied, even when they get what they ask for.

1. With John Kyl being chosen to replace McCain in Arizona, and the fact that he'll be seated by the time the vote takes place, the numbers are 51-49 R>D, with Pence a tie-breaker if necessary. There are those who say that some Dems from states that went for Trump are likely to confirm if they're up for election this year. If the vote is delayed long enough, these guys will vote him down. To pretend that all this kerfuffle isn't just partisan delaying tactics is a stretch.

2. This is without the slightest doubt. In fact, it's guaranteed. It's how they roll.

1. I think there are dems in red states that will realize that a no vote might cost them election.
1a. There might be a few democrats who realize that to continue with this behavior after they’ve gotten what they wanted is horrible optics.

2. It’s a pretty safe bet.

If it is proven that Kavanaugh didn't do what he's accused of, how many of the folx who have already declared him guilty will acknowledge that reality?

Most will instead seek to find fault...or simply assert such without evidence...with the process that led to such a finding.
