The Hypocrisy is Strong

While there are plenty of examples all over social media, I'll point out two that stand out.

1.  People who've spent the last couple of years bitching about "toxic masculinity" are now swooning over Zelinsky and other Ukrainian leaders who have the courage to stand up and fight for the people they represent.  They're the same folks posting all sorts of examples of brave men defending their homeland.

2.  The Twitter account called "Occupy Democrats" has a bit of a problem.   They Tweeted the following a while back.

"No civilian needs an AR-15, regardless of whatever mental gymmnastics you do. "

Then this recently.

"Breaking: Ukraine's Interior Minister announces that 10,000 automatic rifles have been handed out to the civilians of Kyiv as they prepare to fight tooth and nail to defend their homes against Putin's invasion."

On a slightly more serious note.  Biden has been sending troops to Europe without any indication of what their role might be.  What Biden needs to be sending is Javelin and Stinger missiles, 7.62x39mm, and 9x19mm ammunition.

I am confused as to why these unprecedented sanctions specifically exempt certain commodities including oil.

"This Twitter thread featuring nuclear-advocate Michael Schellenberger explains:

After Russia invaded, a few people demanded that Europe stop buying its natural gas, but European utilities snatched up long-term Russian contracts, and the White House said, “Our sanctions are not designed to cause any disruption to the flow of energy from Russia to the world.”

People who believe that nothing could have been done to prevent Russia from invading Ukraine thus imply that Russia’s chokehold over European energy supplies was inevitable, but it wasn’t. Europe could have easily increased, rather than closed, nuclear plants and natural gas."

" Britain could have increased fracking for natural gas but didn’t. Why? Because Russia pumped $95M into anti-fracking advocacy. Noted the head of NATO, Russia “engaged actively with environmental organizations… to maintain Europe’s dependence on Russian gas”."

" Efforts to make Europe less energy independent, and thus more dependent on Russian gas imports, were led by powerful banking interests in coordination with climate activists and center-Left parties around the world."

 https://winteryknight.com/2022/02/28/global-warming-activists-attacked-fracking-and-nuclear-energy-paid-putin-to-invade-ukraine/

Is it possible that the "Green/Global Warming/Climate Activists" bear some degree of responsibility for funding Putin's  recent invasion?  Hell. the US imports oil from Putin, while preventing US oil reserves from being accessed.  But it's ALL Trump's fault, right?

I do have to wonder if we'd see the same sort of rush to defend the US if we were invaded.  Obviously, we'd see the professionals doing their jobs to defend the country, but I find it hard to believe that we'd see the same level of civilian rushing to arms that we've seen in Ukraine.  In all honesty, there's probably a bunch of folx who we'd probably be better off without, and a bunch of folx who'd be happy to let the invaders win.

Switcheroo

It's amazing how many people I've seen on social media over the last two days who are bemoaning the use of violence we're seeing in Ukraine.

Don't get me wrong,  I'm not suggesting that Putin's invasion is a good thing at all.

No, what's interesting is that these are the same people who were actively supporting the rioters that were burning down the neighborhoods where they live back in 2020.

I suspect that they'll also be out front whining when Biden commits US troops to fight on Ukraine.

I guess that we should all feel sorry for outspoken liberal personality Joy Behar who's long put off (by COVID)  trip to Italy is now threatened by the Ukraine invasion.

“You know, you just, you plan a trip. You want to go there, want to go to Italy for four years. I haven’t been able to make it because of the pandemic, and now this. You know, it’s like, what’s gonna happen there?” Behar lamented, referencing the disruption in global travel due to COVID-19, a virus which has killed millions around the globe.--

This notion that the invasion of Ukraine is responsible for things that were happening long before this crisis started, or that Trump is somehow responsible for one more thing that happened after his presidency was over, just sound like partisan crap designed to take the spotlight off of Biden and his failures.

Thank God for Joe Biden

"Putin knows that when I am president of the United States his days of tyranny and trying to intimidate the United States and those in Eastern Europe are over."

Or remember during the 2012 campaign when P-BO and Biden attacked Romney for saying that our greatest threat was Russia?

"This is not 1956."   "The Cold War wants it's foreign policy back."

"Vladimir Putin doesn't want me to be president. He doesn't want me to be our nominee.  If you're wondering why-it's because I'm the only person in this field who's ever gone toe-to-toe with him."

Clearly Putin is cowering in fear at the prospect of Biden as POTUS.

But at least Kamala is on the job spouting inaccurate "history".

“I mean, listen, guys, we’re talking about the potential for war in Europe,” Harris said at one point Sunday in response to a question about how the Biden administration saw the situation’s “endgame” playing out.

“I mean, let’s really take a moment to understand the significance of what we’re talking about,” the veep went on. “It’s been over 70 years. And through those 70 years … there has been peace and security. We are talking about the real possibility of war in Europe.”

All of this raises a question.  Why is the Biden administration more concerned about the integrity of the borders in Ukraine, than in the US?

This exemplafies the wonder that is the Biden administration.

"Reporter:  Will sanctions deter Putin?

Harris: Within the context then of the fact that that window is still opening, although, open, although it is absolutely narrowing, but within the context of a diplomatic path still being open."

It seems obvious that the actual answer was simply, "No.".

Clearly waiting until the last minute, looking sternly into the cameras, and trying to sound like a movie tough guy while talking about sanctions was not a winning strategy.

One wonders how the Biden administration and it's small remnant of true believers expect the rest of us to accept their claim that inflation, the drastic increase in gas problems, and the supply chain problems are all due to the Russia/Ukraine conflict when all of those problems predate the Russia/Ukraine crisis/

"No one expected sanctions to prevent anything from ahppening, it's gonna take time."

The Experts

We've seen a rash of countries in Europe loosening or removing their COVID restrictions over the past months.   Yet here in the US we keep being told that "The Science" demands that we continue to mask, and adhere to other restrictions.  Hell, Canada is using force against peaceful protesters because they demand that restrictions continue.   Some folks are telling us that some of these restrictions might become permanent, because "The Science" tells them so.  They tell us that we must listen to "The Experts" and that questioning "The Experts" is akin to heresy.

So, are we really suggesting that "The Experts" in the US are more "expert" then "The Experts" in Norway, or the UK, or Sweden?   The same experts that Biden based his "winter of death" comments on?

I guess I'm still on the side of using information as a way to measure and accept the level of risk that is comfortable for each of us, while choosing to err on the side of not imposing my decision on others.

Simply following "The Experts",  without questioning has never appealed to me.  Nor has ignoring one set of "The Experts" for "The Experts" that someone else favors.

My family is currently making plans for gathering to celebrate my aunt's 95th birthday.   There is quite a bit of difference in how best to accommodate this, ranging from don't do this, to 2 vax/booster/mask, to masks alone, to nothing.    I plan to attend, and I will accede to what makes people the most comfortable in terms of restrictions.   There are several people who have made it clear that they will not attend because they are afraid (either for themselves or for others), and I respect their decision and will not criticize them.

I do find it sad though.  As we just found out that there is a strong likelihood that there will not be a 96th birthday to celebrate.   I can't understand choosing not to avail oneself of one of the last opportunities to see a beloved family member alive.   It's their choice, and they'll have to live with it, but I see no reason not to gather and celebrate a life well lived,  with family and friends.

I'm simply going to point out that the sources of news shouldn't matter, if the news is reported accurately.

If the information reported is accurate, then one must ask why other news outlets are not reporting it.

I Know...

I know I've posted on this before, but I want to revisit this notion that the DFL can keep their coalition together when so many of the groups have agendas that are diametrically opposed.

For example, the Keystone pipeline and the large mine project up in the Iron range are great examples.  For years the DFL has had the unquestioned support of labor unions (I'm not talking about public sector unions).  Of late the DFL has been increasingly in the thrall of the environmental groups and those groups have gotten much more power.  In both of these cases the environmental groups have stopped the projects, which have damaged thousands of union workers.    As we move forward, what is the likelihood that the labor unions (more specifically the members of labor unions) will continue to support a political party that is costing them high paying jobs and stopping economic growth in areas that need it?    Or, how long can the DFL continue to pretend to be the party of labor, while regularly doing things that harm labor?   By the same token, can the DFL keep the environmental groups in the fold if they decide to give the labor unions what they want?

This is probably the most obvious example, and the situation in Canada reinforces it.   If Blackface is seriously going to invoke martial law to break up an incredibly peaceful protest by labor, do American labor union members think Biden is going to have their best interests at heart.

While this example is top mind because of current events,  I'll probably look at some others down the road as well.

Because Polls Represent Truth

https://www.cnn.com/2022/02/10/politics/cnn-poll-biden-approval/index.html

I guess this means that it's reasonable to call Biden's presidency so far, a failure.

New information

I've never been an active Trump supporter, and I believe that he should not run again in 2024.   However,  I find it hard to ignore the fact that we keep finding out that he was right about things.   We've known for a while that the whole Russia thing was a complete fabrication funded by those on the left.  But now we're finding out that Hillary and her campaign engaged in nefarious tactics and was directly involved in the Russia thing.   This new information hasn't changed my views on either Trump or Hillary.  Trump still needs to sit 2024 out, and Hillary is still a thoroughly corrupt person.   It's just interesting to see the where the evidence leads, and what lengths those on the left and in the media will go to in order to minimize this story.

The link below goes into a lot more detail.

Submit

For all the folks who've been insisting that we must submit to the "experts", and that continuing to engage in actions that have been unsuccessful (or not as successful as promised), must love what Black Face Treudeau is doing right now.

Unlike US politicians, who flaunt their ignoring of the mandates they demand that others follow, Black Face is going full on dictator.   He's invoked little used emergency powers to do things like freeze bank accounts, call out the military, and lord knows what else.  All to stamp out a peaceful protest.   I don't mean "mostly peaceful" like the 2020 summer of burning and looting,  I mean peaceful like two guys relaxing in hot tub.

For anyone who says that the right is where the oppression is going to come from, maybe you should look in the news and see what's actually happening.

I know it's not over, but thank goodness the "winter of death" hasn't been worse down here in the US.   Or maybe it was just Biden trying to scare people into compliance.

Crack

One claim I've heard from more than a few folks on the left is that the 1994 Crime Bill was racist for imposing different penalties for crack cocaine than for powder cocaine.  The rationale is that poor minorities were more likely to use crack, and this allowed larger numbers of minorities to be jailed for their crack use.

Now. as most of us know, Biden sponsored and took credit for the 94 crime bill.  Which should mean that as the person responsible for this racist abomination, that he'd be considered racist.  But for some reason he's immune form being accused of racism no matter what he says or does.

https://wset.com/news/nation-world/federal-government-to-pay-for-crack-pipes-meth-pipes-as-part-of-harm-reduction-strategy-samhsa-sunstance-abuse-mental-health-health-services-agency-various-illicit-drugs-cocaine-crystal

So, now the Biden administration has decided that the US taxpayers should also be picking up the tab so minorities (remember the objection to the "94 crime bill that minorities were the primary users of crack), can get free crack pipes.

If I was a conspiracy theory person, I might think that Biden is trying to get more minorities hooked on crack, or otherwise inflict harm on minorities, but I'm not.

There appears to be some confusion regarding the inclusion of actual crack pipes in these kits.  Honestly,  the notion that there is anything healthy or valuable in facilitating or encouraging people to smoke crack, is simply ludicrous.   The fact that various government folks think that drugs like crack or heroin are fine as long as they're used safely makes me wonder what drugs these folx are on.

Workers of the world unite!

Unless you are workers uniting to peacefully protest things that the political left supports, in which case don't unite.   Because if you do unite, they'll start talking about bringing the weight of the government down on you to break up the peaceful protests.

As these "right wing" protesters in Canada continue and expand their peaceful protests, one wonders where are the burning and looting that seem to accompany peaceful protests here in the US?

Maybe Canadians really are too nice to burn and loot.

I think it's awesome that local individuals are making food for the peaceful protesters.   I think it's less awesome that Facebook, and GoFundMe are trying to interfere with the peaceful protesters.

Slippery Slope

For years folks have been accused of a slippery slope fallacy when it comes to sexual behavior.

Well, if folks like Professor (Stephen Kershnar is a distinguished teaching professor in the philosophy department at the State University of New York at Fredonia and an attorney) Steven Kershnar have their way, pedophilia will be normalized quite soon.

I guess we should be grateful that the branch of SUNY where he is a "distinguished teaching professor" is willing to stand up and condemn this sort of thing.

How much?

How much of the COVID narrative was false?  When did those in power know it? How much contrary information has been hidden to maintain the narative?

It now looks more likely than ever that COVID 19 is a result of something in a lab in Wuhan, and that the US likely funded at least part of the research.

We're now seeing more evidence that HCQ and Ivermectin do have positive affects on COVID 19.

We're now seeing more and more countries abandoning lock downs and restrictions as innefective?

We now know that COVID deaths were reported in a misleading fashion that overstated the number of people who actually died specifically from COVID.

We now know that co-morbidities were more significant than was first thought.

We now are seeing evidence that lock downs had little effect on COVID mortality.

Given the information that is slowly coming out, why are we still trusting the same folks who peddled so much bullshit?

Why do we keep seeing powerful politicians violating the mask rules they enforce on others?

Why did left leaning "evangelical" pastors and leaders jump so uncritically on the bandwagon of spreading propaganda under the guise of pastoral care?

Lots of questions, lots of things about the narrative that aren't being borne out by experience.

Apparently, polling is now "the science" being used to start eliminating mandates in blue states.  either that or it's easier to get rid of mandates, than to expect the DFL powerful elites to live by the mandates they impose on others.

Is it possible that all of the mask mandates will be lifted before election day in Nov?

If so, does that mean that the DFL governors that lift them are trading lives for votes?

Will anyone ever suggest that Biden is directly responsible (like the did with Trump) for the 600,000 COVID deaths since he took office?
