Something positive about Biden

While I agree that this move is more symbolism than substance, I believe that Biden's choice to stop purchasing Russian oil was the correct one.  The optics of funding Putin's regime, while sanctioning all sorts of other things were horrible and Biden really had no choice.

What will be interesting is to see if Biden turns toward domestic sources to make up this shortfall, of if he'll choose to fund a bunch of countries that are as bad, if not worse, than Russia.

So far as I've heard to date, Biden is seeking to get our oil from other bad actors, including Venezuela. He also recommends we go electric. He said something about how many leases the oil industry has to drill, without mentioning they don't have the permits to actually do the drilling. Like so many on the left, he's a fraud. Like most on the left, he's ignorant of how actions impact the economy and ultimately the lower classes. Like all on the left, he's a danger to the nation.

As I said in the post, if he turns toward supporting other bad actors instead of US producers, that will be it's own problem.

The reality is that he had to do what he did to maintain some level of credibility, and he did the right thing.

I see no reason why I shouldn't acknowledge Biden when he does the right thing.

Oh sure. Acknowledging a better move is fine. But he gets no credit for doing what he should have done already and less for having done so only because of the damage he caused. Of course his credibility remains unchanged.

I disagree. He should get credit for doing what he did. He did it, and it's reasonable to acknowledge that reality.

Clearly, he's got enough problematic issues to allow him this one small win.

The fact that he's actively seeking (and being rebuffed by) countries run by despots and dictators to solve the fuel problem instead of talking to US oil producers tells us all we need to know about Biden's goals. His stated goals regarding the US oil industry were made quite clear in his debate with Bernie.

But folks like Dan lap this sort of cozeying up to bad actors when it's their guy.
