Back before the 2020 election news broke about Hunter Biden and his questionable business dealings and of his use of his father's influence for his own benefit. This story was poo pooed by everyone on the left. "Conspiracy theory", "Russian disinformation", and more were put out by the media, the DFL, and the Biden camp. Strangely enough, years later, CBS is the most recent MSM outlet to acknowledge that the story was actually True. Now (I could be wrong) but it seems like a candidate for president who used his influence to help his son financially gain through business dealings of questionable legality, might benefit from the MSM not investigating this story right before an election. It seems like this sort of potential influence peddling might have affected the outcome of at least 2 national elections had it been investigated in a timely manner. It's possible that the DFL die hards, would have continued to support Biden, regardless of the Truth of the matter, maybe even likely. But, I can't help but suspect that this news would have affected the independent voters.
It's strange that this is finally coming to light after two elections which might have been negatively affected by this news. It's also convenient that this could well be what keeps Biden out of the race in 2024. One could almost conclude that Facebook, Twitter, and IG weren't the only media outlets that decided to influence recent elections, maybe the MSM did as well.
But hey, this is just one more "conspiracy theory" that's turned out to be True.

Two important take-aways:
1. This admission, a surprise to no honest person who was paying attention, proves just how dishonest and evil the Democrat Party and their acolytes are to have lied about something so important to the future and well being of the nation.
2. This admission, is likely part of a plan to deny President Sniffy a second term. They've denied Trump by whatever means necessary (pushing and supporting a moron), and now they don't need Mr. Ice Cream anymore because he's been a worse train wreck than honest, intelligent people who paid attention knew he would be the whole time.
1. No, this admission is not a surprise to anyone who thought that these allegations should have been thoroughly investigated at the time. What is a surprise is the leftist reaction that it's no big deal.
2. I agree that the timing suggests that as a possibility.
How the left reacts to anything is really no surprise, either. Indeed, their reaction to most anything is predictable with just a little thought. The left downplays any wrongdoing on their end.
Speaking for my part of the Left, if they're guilty, they should be punished. Period. Liberal, conservative, Dem or GOP.
That's what sets apart progressives from Trump's GOP.
Really, then where are the calls from you (because the notion that you represent anyone else is absurd), for the DOJ and congress to investigate this? Where is your condemnation of the MSM for lying about the story? Where is your condemnation of the MSM/social media for lying about this story at a point where telling the Truth would likely have hurt Biden's chances at winning the election?
It's easy to wait until after the fact before you criticize and condemn. It's too bad you believed the false narrative, but the "conspiracy theory" bullshit, and get the election result you wanted before you acknowledged reality.
I guess you're OK with lying or suppressing the Truth about a candidate in order to win an election.
"That's what sets apart progressives from Trump's GOP."
That's funny. What sets Dan apart from "Trump's" GOP is that the GOP lies far less.

Well, here, for one place. Way back in March...

But you'll have to understand that I'm much less concerned about sons and family members not directly involved in the White House or Congress than I am about presidents and politicians actually elected to office.
And I've dealt with enough addicts to know how bad that is for them and how they can so easily make bad decisions. If H Biden committed crimes, hold him accountable. IF the bad decisions were related to his addictions, take that into account.
And, of course, if Joe Biden actively took part in ANY wrongdoing, hold him accountable. Not that there's any evidence of that.
But that won't stop some in the GOP for calling for or starting impeachments based on nothing but partisan attacks.
Interesting that you aren't concerned with the children of presidents who engage in influence peddling, or in a Ponzi scheme like FTX, even though they are intended to further the interests of the DFL. What a strange position to take. Does this disinterest extend to having the MSM and Big Tech actively manipulating the story, choosing not to report on it, hiding the reporting of those who did report on it, and not engaging in any investigations now that we've learned the Truth?
"Not that there's any evidence of that."
That's quite a claim. I thought the point of congressional and DOJ investigations of reported wrongdoing was to find out if evidence exists. Thank goodness we can save millions because Dan has spoken.
FYI, I wrote about how foolish it would be for the GOP house to immediately start impeachment proceedings against Biden. Regardless of anything Biden might have done, it's not worth it. We've watched the last few years of the DFL engaging in all sorts of one sided, partisan congressional investigations/impeachment bullshit and it's all been a complete waste of time and money.
I reap your post, and for a change you did specifically mention Hunter (although not Joe's potential involvement), but as usual when it's someone on your side, it was pretty milquetoast, and CYA rather than the tone you use when it's Trump.
But, we're back to the ("I've already condemned every instance of X", so I don't have to repeat my condemnation of X when my side does it") double standard here.
Craig...
Interesting that you aren't concerned with the children of presidents who engage in influence peddling,
Stupidly false claim. I never said that. It's false. It's wrong. Retract and apologize.
What I ACTUALLY said...
I'm much less concerned
about sons and family members
not directly involved in the White House or Congress
Do you understand that "I'm less concerned about H Biden who has no active connections to decisions in the White House, than I am about what the President or members of Congress" does not equate to "I am NOT CONCERNED..."?
Do you recognize that I'm even LESS concerned about the man who grew up next to Joe Biden than I am about H Biden?
There's a world of misbehavior happening out there. We can't be actively following each and every one of them. Because of course. You're not. Hell, you're not even showing ANY concern about the members of Trump's family who were actively IN the White House and involved in promoting dangerous and stupidly false election claims (and others) who were actively involved in policies and politics. When you show some concern about the actual active misdeeds about Trump's deviant kids who are trying to affect policy, then it will be easier to take your allegations about possible misdeeds by H Biden seriously.
Do you see the hypocrisy problem you're having?

Stupidly false and unsupported claims. Prove it. It's false. It's wrong. Retract and apologize.
Craig...
That's quite a claim. I thought the point of congressional and DOJ investigations of reported wrongdoing was to find out if evidence exists.
The problem is that modern conservatives dating back decades have a history of promoting conspiracy theories and "active investigations" that time after time after time after time, etc, were shown to be political games, not based on actual Democratic misdeeds. (Or at least serious misdeeds. B Clinton DID abuse his power to get a blowjob from a consenting young adult, which I condemned and called for him to be removed over that! - but it's not like he actively promoted false "stolen election" claims to provoke an insurrection).
Again, you have a hypocrisy problem. Modern conservatism has a hypocrisy problem, with the exception of those like L Cheney and George Will who took a stand based on decency and truth.
"Do you see the hypocrisy problem you're having?"
No. I admit to being hypocritical at times. My pointing out the hypocrisy of y'all on the left isn't an indication that I'm claiming to be perfect.
What's interesting is that in your rush to beat me up over a semantic quibble, is that you're ignoring the fact that Hunter Biden was influence peddling, that his actions were intended to use his father's position to enrich himself, and that it's not irrational to wonder if his connections have any relationship to the billions of dollars Biden is throwing at Ukraine.
The MSM and Big Tech clearly reported that the Hunter Biden story was a conspiracy theory, and was not True, even though that narrative has been proven to be false. The evidence of Big Tech trying to influence the elections has just started to come out, but is clearly credible and should be investigated fully.
I love how you conflate "decency and truth" with those who abandon their conservative principles and "agree" with you.
The fact that you ignore the reality that more and more of what you, the MSM, and Big Tech have labeled "conspiracy theories" have turned out to actually be True would be troubling if it wasn't simply par for the course.
Craig...
"I love how you conflate "decency and truth" with those who abandon their conservative principles and "agree" with you..."
That's just another HEAVILY irrational claim there. I cited Cheney and George Will. Are you seriously saying THEY have "abandoned conservative principles.."??!!
Are you delusional?
They are seriously ultra-conservative people with whom I disagree strongly when it comes to their policies. But they recognize the depths of corruption, depravity, dishonesty and stupidity of Trump.
Are you suggesting that failing to kiss Trump's ass disqualifies one from being a conservative??
Lord!
"Are you seriously saying THEY have "abandoned conservative principles.."??!!"
Yes, they have both moved away from some/many conservative principles of late.
No.
No.
"And I've dealt with enough addicts to know how bad that is for them and how they can so easily make bad decisions."
HA!! They're addicts! They already made a bad decision!
"IF the bad decisions were related to his addictions, take that into account."
See Dan carve out a loophole for Hunter.
"And, of course, if Joe Biden actively took part in ANY wrongdoing, hold him accountable. Not that there's any evidence of that."
Dan Trabue: Liar for the cause.
"FYI, I wrote about how foolish it would be for the GOP house to immediately start impeachment proceedings against Biden. Regardless of anything Biden might have done, it's not worth it. You're overlooking one significantly huge distinction: Trump did nothing to warrant any impeachment proceedings. Biden's done tons.
Also, it would only be foolish if they did it instead of overturning Biden's destructive policies, fixing the election problems which Dems dishonestly exploit, finish the border wall and other sundry Congressional responsibilities. I'd like to think the GOP can walk and chew gum at the same time. We'll see.
