Corruption

 https://www.reuters.com/legal/ex-fbi-agent-accused-working-russian-oligarch-may-change-plea-2023-08-07/

Disclaimer:   I am not, nor have I ever held out Trump as a model of honesty, virtue, or probity.   I have been clear from at least 2015  that I have major issues with Trump in regards to his character.

It's now pretty common knowledge that the entire Trump/Russia collusion story and all of it's offshoots have been proven to be false.   It's also common knowledge that this entire "story" was concocted by people who were attached to the Clinton campaign.

Now we find out that the FBI agent who played a major role in investigating the Trump/Russia collusion hoax, actually was involved in some sort of collusion with powerful people in Russia.    Will this story get as much play as the Trump/Russia hoax did?    Unlikely.   Just like we'll almost never see the true extent of the DFL/Clinton corruption around the 2016 election.

It's not so much that I'm rooting for Trump to be vindicate, as that I'm hoping that people will see  the corruption involved in the raising of these false allegations against him, and the use of  federal government assets to engage in false accusations against a political rival.

You could have just said "probity" as it encompasses the other two traits. Just sayin'.

I most certainly do wish to see Trump vindicated, as I would hope for the same for anyone wrongly accused. I also wish to see all of his accusers punished for their false accusations. We are not improved or served by allowing even those like Trump to be messed around so cruelly as he has been. Part of doing that include never referring to him in a balanced manner, only speaking of his shortcomings and flaws, never about any of the good things about him, which are not few in number.

As to corruption, we're seeing more and more just who the truly corrupt are. The truly deranged haters of Trump will continue to disregard and minimize that in favor of inflating falsely perceived "crimes" of Trump. That's how the modern progressive rolls.

At this point in time, I don't give a flying rat's backside that anyone might wish to regard me as a Trump supporter, defender, lover or whatever. I'm done correcting the perversions of my position which reflect reality far more accurately than those who would do so.

Only in MAGA Land, brother. Expand your echo chamber, step out of it, even.

Good Lord.

Art,

I too would like to see the Truth about Trump and these allegations be brought out. If that means that these allegations are proven to be false, then that's great. If they're proven to be True, then that's also great.

Unfortunately, the trend of minimizing isn't just present on the part of those who don't like Trump. Trump fans also minimize his failings, and overemphasize what they believe are his triumphs.

You have made your position on Trump quite plain, there is little you can do or say now to alter it.

Well, I guess it's True that Dan is choosing to live in a fantasy world.

What's interesting is that Dan apparently sees no problem with an FBI agent assigned to investigate the Trump/Russia allegations actually being in bed with the Russians.

Craig,

What allegations are actually legit in your mind? Dan believes them all simply because someone made them, but what about you? Do you really believe Trump is guilty of something unlawful?

I again insist there are few Trump supporters who minimize any of Trump's failings. Rather, like me, they keep them in the proper perspective. I haven't ignored his spending issues while president. I've mentioned it disparagingly many times. I just don't see the point in belaboring what is obvious as if it should be part of any argument against him winning another term. Most of his "failures" will be corrected the second time around. Good gosh! How could they not be? That's how he made millions! For example, I think he'll be a lot more discerning with who he brings in and he'll be more aware of who to oust.

I'd like to believe I have made my position on Trump very plain indeed. Yet, you continue to Dan my position. I'm not freakin' married to the guy, for Pete's sake!

Art,

At this point I tend to take the accusations against Trump with a grain of salt. I suspect that he might have done some minor things, but nothing that validates the amount of effort being expended. However, the problem I have is that what we hear from the prosecution/administration is at best incomplete and likely slanted to make Trump look worse in public opinion. We haven't seen the evidence and therefore have no real basis to reach an informed conclusion.

My opinion is affected by the fact that the civil suit was essentially a win for trump, and that almost every thing he's been accused of has come to nothing. That doesn't give me confidence.

On the other side, the continuing parade of evidence, and testimony under oath that point to significant and long term corruption on Biden's part make me wonder how much of this is to divert attention from Biden. The fact that those who are rabidly attacking Trump, either remain silent on Biden or excuse Biden, makes me think that this is more about politics than about principle.

It wasn't that long ago, when the appearance of impropriety was enough to derail someone's viability as a candidate. Trump certainly gives the appearance of impropriety.
