Dow Jones Industrial Average 42,064.46 as of 2:25 CDT.
On Friday, January 20, 2025, the Dow Jones Industrial Average (DJI) closed at 43,487.83.
Given the uproar about recession/depression/and catastrophe, I'd say things aren't as dire as predicted.
The inflation rate is at 2.3%, just over the 2% target.
Gas averages $3.18
Egg prices down 18%
Grocery prices at a 4 year low.
If this is "economic chaos" then let's keep it going.

Dude. All that matters is he wants to accept a plane from Qatar on behalf of our government. I can't think of consumer prices with THAT hanging over me!
I guess that means that the Statue of Liberty has to go back too.
To be fair, Qatar isn't the most exemplary actor in the world. But still this performative bullshit around the plane belonging to Trump personally is absurd.
That they ignore the 160 planes that Qatar is proposing to buy from Boeing and the economic benefits says all that needs to be said.
Does it seem like progressive grace embracing to spend so much time trying to find fault while never acknowledging good works? Some, even conservatives, don't think his acceptance of the plane is "a good look", but you point out something I hadn't heard regarding those 160 planes. Trump often acts in a far more thoughtful, intelligent and strategic manner than his detractors will ever admit, seeking only to denigrate him at the expense of all of us.
I don't think so. Trump regularly does things that are not a "good look" some of them turn out good and some less so. I think that, it sets us apart from progressives, if we do acknowledge it when our leaders/politicians "fail".
Obviously, if Qatar buys 160 planes, or 75 planes, from Boeing it is a win/win for the US.
The problem is that the "not a good look" is more about how it's being reported and pushed by the MSM. It's being lied about. So it's more about pushing back on the lies than anything.
Well certainly, a lot of it is just a matter of waiting to comment until all the facts are in. Until you mentioned the purchase proposal, the only thing I heard was that it was initially spoken of as a kind of loan until Boeing finishes their job with the new presidential planes, and then it seemed like it was gifted to our government, but certainly not to Trump himself. And then I began hearing how it was a bad look for him to take it at all. No doubt the left jumped on as an emolument issue, because that's what they do...they try to find how they can make any freakin' move by Trump into something wrong, illegal, unConstitutional, unethical, whatever. The WANT it to be one of those things. It just HAS TO BE one of those things. They NEED to be one of those things to justify their baseless hatred for the man and to cover for the fact they have nothing in the way of intelligent ideas for the good of the nation. Think of how stupid one must be to vote for those people!

Let's start with this. It seems that we're now finding out that the conversation about the plane started under the Biden administration. IMO this story just changed direction from "Why is Trump taking a plane from Qatar?" to "Why isn't the MSM telling the Truth about the plane?". This is just one more indictment of the MSM and their unwillingness to tell the Truth about things that might hurt Trump.
The more we learn, the less bad this looks for Trump. Unfortunately, this is primarily a MSM problem.
Having said that, Trump says and posts all kinds of crap on a regular basis. He could have easily squashed this instantly if he'd chosen to do so. One post or interview could have set this straight. I wonder why he didn't.
Part of the problem is that Trump has a history of doing and saying things that are a "bad look", so it's easy to write this off as just one more.
However, in this case, it's clearly the MSM and their minions that ran with a story line that is mistaken (at best) and flatly false (at worst).
It's stuff like this that makes me wonder why anyone reveres the MSM at this point, and why they deserve some sort of benefit of the doubt given their track record over the last 20ish years.
Given how many "bad looks" by Trump turned out to be not bad at all, I find it curious that so many continue to worry about how things Trump says, does or proposes might look rather than just keeping it in their pants until all the details come out...which usually result in finding out the dude did more good shit.
Sure, he'll likely pull a boner now and then, but the odds are good that he will just do more good. This has been the history of this guy as president.
Because he's the president of the United States. What he says matters. People pay attention to what he says. He could communicate the same things in ways that are less provocative, yet he chooses not to.
The problem is that when he "pulls a boner" because of a choice he made (rather than a mistake) it's a problem.
I know, it's crazy to have high expectations in multiple areas of conduct for our president.
