In the rush to push the "trans" agenda of medical/pharmacological/surgical intervention as quickly as possible and at younger ages, these stories get ignored. As does what's happened in Europe over the last year or so. The amount of pain inflicted by what is essentially a political movement, which happens to generate lots of money as well, is increasing.
I guess "Don't harm people" as a philosophy has it's limits.

Wow. I confess I feel little sympathy for such people. That is, what sympathy I may have had or was likely to feel dissipated in relation to their rejection of common sense prior to their having subjected themselves to the lie which could never satisfy. Now, they're in the same place they always had been with additional problems which they can never overcome. All because liars convinced them or because they pretended they were convinced of what couldn't possibly be true.
The author speaks of these as "gay" men, so their problem was never addressed in the first place. They went from one lie to a worse lie.
I wish more of these unfortunates "came out" to the world so as to stand as a stark warning to others lured by the lie.
I can't help bu feel sympathy for those who believed the lies they were told, and who trusted people who's primary goal was to use them to move forward an agenda, or to make money.
I'm not saying that they bear no responsibility, but that they were used and abandoned by those who are intent on pushing a narrative regardless of the harm inflicted on others.
I see this as a warning to the "Dans" of the world who blindly echo the narrative, ignore the harm, and spout the propaganda. There's no reason at all why those people shouldn't bear some of the responsibility for the harm their adherence to a narrative causes, especially as we see more and more evidence of how much harm the narrative is doing and how many countries are rejecting the narrative.
We have data that tells us that the majority of "trans" children will grow out of their dysphoria and end up as L,G, or B. The fact that the narrative demands that we ignore that data, and sentence these children to what we see in this article is barbaric.
I believe that we will see an increasing number of people permanently damaged beyond repair over the next few years. I suspect after a big verdict or two against the "trans" medical complex, that we'll see more.
In short, this seems a bit like sacrificing some ignorant, immature, mentally ill children on the alter of adding more letters to the ABS soup folx.
I do have but one caveat to my original comment, and that is regard for those among this crowd who suffer from mental/emotional disorders which make them most likely to fall for the lies. But any who grow out of their dysphoria and end up as L, G, or B are still disordered.
Art,
Just because they're "disordered" doesn't mean that they deserve to be mutilated as well.
This post is less about the individuals who go through this than about the "trans" medical industrial complex that pushes such extreme measures so hard. It's about the useful idiots like Dan who believe the "experts", while ignoring increasing amounts of data to the contrary. It's about the Drs who see this as big, easy money. It's about the "experts" who've invented new fields of study just so they can be "experts", while ignoring things like small sample size and what experts in Europe are saying and doing because it feeds their egos. It's about rich, white, liberal parents who push this crap on their kids when they're young and don't love them enough to protect them until they're adults. Finally it's about a political party that needs more victim groups to stay in power, so it manufactures them.
I'll always have compassion for those who are thrown under the bus to advance someone else's agenda.
Of course I don't believe they "deserve" mutilation. They deserve actual counseling, which evidently no longer exists as far as this disorder is concerned.
I'm not suggesting that you do believe that. I'm suggesting that they deserve protection from predators until they are adults. If an adult wants to mutilate themselves, I really don't care. We regularly see people with all sorts of body modifications, and if they want to disfigure themselves as adults, that's on them.
Of course. When it comes to kids, what they deserve is our protection and guidance...at least until they're legal adults, where they are at liberty to mutilate themselves if they feel they must.
I would favor laws which restrict the ability of medical professionals to engage in that which has no basis in biology. Then, it wouldn't matter what one feels compelled to do if there's not avenue open for them to get it done. Perhaps they'll go back to traveling to Sweden to get it done, but I have expectations that our professionals be as morally sound as possible.
Which has been my point since the "transing" of children has been a thing.
The problem with your proposed law is that it could be argued that replacing joints, installing hardware, and boob jobs have "no basis in biology" and should be banned. I'd be crippled without the first two, and could care less if some woman wants big boobs.
Since Europe has embraced sanity, that's probably not an option.
