" Elon Musk on the left’s fundamental moral flaw: “The fundamental moral flaw of the left is empathy for the criminals and not empathy for the victims” They feel sorry for the criminals but show zero empathy for the actual victims There’s also been immense unconstitutional judicial overreach that was never intended and it’s destroying the public’s faith in the legal system This needs to stop Put the victims first. Restore real justice."

This is the bastion of the "real journalism" Dan goes on and on about. What a joke.

I've watched a few of Freitas' podcasts on YouTube. Pretty sharp guy. Don't know why he's still not in Congress.
Musk is right, of course, but stating the obvious in much the same way Maher does. (And BTW, I'm growing concerned with your man-crush on Maher).
A couple of points of contention in at least two of the Maher bits.
1. He draws a fallacious "both sides of the same coin" type of disparity between the communism of Mandami and the "crony capitalism" of Trump which "makes his family rich". The former is obvious (again) and the latter is typical leftist drivel which demands solid evidence which is never provided.
2. Fetterman makes this weird claim that the Dems have always been the party opposed to shutdowns. I don't believe that's true at all, though they do like to constantly refer to the GOP as "holding America hostage". They've done many times when the GOP refuses a pork filled budget, a falsely named bill and the like. But recently, they shut it down because they didn't want fair elections.
If it's one of Dan's favored news sources, it has to be as Gospel. (Too bad that's rarely the case.)
I have no "man crush" on Maher. I'm using him and other liberals as evidence to demonstrate how far out the progressives have taken the DFL. It's pretty well established the Truman and Kennedy advocated for much that would be considered "right wing extremism" during their terms, and that Clinton's policies would likewise be considered "right wing" by the current DFL/progressives. The simple fact is that a return of the DFL to a more center/left position would be beneficial to the country. If the DFL would adopt many of the positions Maher advocates, consider the benefits to the country.
1. Of course, this diminishes the actual point being made, which is that Mamdani is a literal communist.
2. So? The fact that you disagree with one portion of a larger clip doesn't seem to be enough to ignore the parts that can be agreed with.
The fact that Maher, Fetterman, SAS and other liberals are speaking Truth and common sense on some topics, does not somehow mean that they are right (or even close to right on everything). That the positions being taken are positions which are much more reasonable than the present DFL positions seems like (on balance) a good thing.
You wrote an entire post about how the DFL/Progressives have driven the increasingly extreme divide and pushed their side further and further to the left, yet seem to be complaining when I point out the voices trying to close the gap you seem bothered by.
Dan's favored sources of "real journalism" are increasingly prone to shocking violations of journalistic ethics and actually reporting events accurately.
I don't ignore the points either had made which are not debatable in your opinion or mine. I addressed specific point which are at least in mine. That's all.
I appreciate their efforts to address the most obvious extreme positions of their own. That doesn't mean I can't comment on those things they say which are blatantly false. As you suggest, even Dan's favored sources are doing similarly to some extent. They're still MORE prone to supporting falsehoods and bad policies. I won't pat them on the back either for stating the obvious, but I hope for all of them, they do it more and more.
Does that my positions sound more reasonable stated in this manner?
