The more I hear about the latest CA government give away, the more convinced I am that Newsome is simply buying votes. laundering campaign contributions, and enriching his cronies. But the DFL seem convinced that the US needs him for POTUS.
FWIW, there might actually be a critical need for free diapers in CA, although I kind of doubt it. But why would anyone add a second layer of overhead to a straightforward program. The stats buys the diapers, and gives them away. It's not that hard. Why bring in a group that's going to add cost to the program, especially one run by a Newsome crony?

I don't see a single Dem candidate/presidential hopeful worth the time of day. Not a single intelligent person among them. Even the GOP's lesser candidates outshine the best the Dems have to offer...never mind how low a bar to hurdle that might be.
I'd argue that it's not profit, it's money laundering. It's a way for Newsome to both line the pockets of his donors, while also using taxpayer dollars for his personal political gain.
I agree that the DFL bench is pretty bare going forward. The front runners are simply those who make the most ruckus, regardless of their horrible track records. As we've seen, the DFL lemmings don't pay attention to track record when they vote, just the (D) behind the name. Guy with a Totenkopfverbande tattoo, golden with DFL voters. Guy who makes NAZI salutes in public, also golden. Guys who've destroyed various states economies, golden. Guys and gals who say incredibly stupid things, definitely golden. People with some degree of common sense (Fetterman) are probably going to get primaried out.
