Francis

I know a lot of people who are great admirers of Pope Francis, especially his lean towards the left on various social issues.   But we’re now hearing that Francis knowingly and intentionally covered up for and maintained someone in a position of power in the RCC who was heavily involved in the homosexual sexual abuse scandal.    If these accusations are true, and the source seems credible, then how can those who jump on the bandwagon with Francis’ social justice pronouncements not immidiately separate themselves from him.  Don’t Francis and those like him bear a high degree of responsibility for the decades of homosexual sexual abuse in the RCC?   Don’t those who support him bear some of that responsibility as well?

1. IF it is true, of course, he should step down and progressive people WILL call for it.

2. It's a new story, but from what I heard, no evidence has been brought forth yet, it's just a charge from someone who has been antagonistic towards him. So, we'll see what pans out, but

Of course, conservatives by and large are not doing the same thing for the pervert in chief here.

As always, conservatives like to pretend to moral superiority, but it rarely pans out that way, in the public/political scale, anyway (there are of course, millions of regular conservatives who are moral people.

And it sounds like there was no "homosexual sexual abuse scandal." All I'm seeing is a PEDOPHILE scandal.

People who conflate homosexuals to pedophiles are perverted liars, themselves, with not very much room to cast stones.

Dan,

There is already plenty of call from conservative Catholics that there be a “purge” of RCC clergy who participated or covered up this long term abuse.

No one is conflating homosexual with pedophiles. The vast majority of documented cases of sexual abuse involve male priests (obviously) being sexually involved with boys. In most cases the boys/young men are older than what would normally be considered pedophelia. But, even in actual cases of pedophelia, we’re talking about primarily homosexual pedophiles.

So, it is factually accurate (and increasingly common) to differentiate between the small number of heterosexual and true pedophilia cases and the larger number of NAMBLA type situations.
Facts should matter

I’ll believe that the social justice pope groupies will turn on Francis when I see it.

To your off topic Trump comparison, let’s remember that the RCC considers itself the “one True Church with a direct apostolic succession from St Peter” and the pope is the leader of a church. I’d hope one would hold the spiritual leader of millions of Catholics (and those below him) to a slightly higher moral standard than a mere politician.

Maybe, just maybe, “all” you’re “seeing is a pedophile scandal” is because your not looking closely enough. Or maybe it’s because to accurately depict the nature of the sexual abuse scandal damages your “homosexuality is a wondrous, healthy, natural, option” narrative.

Clearly it’s biggrr than just the homosexuality part of the scandal, but to pretend that adult men sexually abusing post pubescent young men is not homosexual in nature is being willfully blind.

FYI. When I am referring to the SJW pope groupies, I’m referring to the people who are non-Catholic, non-religious, or atheist, who latch on to every social justice pronouncement that comes from this particular pope and treat it as if it was the holy Gospel. on

ROME, Italy, August 29, 2018 (LifeSiteNews) – Pope Francis gave a Vatican apartment to a priest who was later caught hosting a drug-fueled homosexual orgy in that same apartment despite being warned about the priest’s grave problems, a highly placed Vatican source told LifeSiteNews in an exclusive interview.

It was Francis himself, the source said, who made sure that a homosexual secretary of his friend Cardinal Francesco Coccopalmerio would obtain a privileged apartment in the Vatican.
