TDS Overload

The hysteria over the addition to the East Wing of the White House is simply nuts.  Trump isn't the first president to make changes to the White House, and isn't using taxpayer money to do this.  Honestly it seems crazy that the White House doesn't have a space where large gatherings and receptions can be held indoors.  Because putting up a temporary tent for POTUS to entertain world leaders seems appropriate, doesn't it?  Hell, even from a security perspective it makes sense to have a hardened space for events. What's even crazier is the idiots who are clamoring for this addition to be torn down as soon as the next democrat wins the presidency.  Every time I think we've reached peak TDS, something like this happens, and makes it clear that the ASPL isn't even concerned about looking at things with even the slightest degree of objectivity or historical perspective.  I didn't hear any complaints when P-BO spent significantly more taxpayer money (really borrowed money that the taxpayers have to pay back with interest) for something less functional.

This is seriously one of the stupidest complaints about Trump  since his first campaign.

I guess visiting dignitaries can play some basketball thanks to Obama, but...

This issue is just another example of how lefties will jump on the TDS train every time their leaders yell "all aboard"! I've had two morons on FB whine about Trump destroying the White House. They either didn't do a damned thing to see if this is unprecedented, or they ignored all the additions built by past presidents.

I was listening to a little Glenn Beck a few hours ago and he was discussing this in great detail, mentioning what those like Truman, Coolidge, both Roosevelts had done, as well as Obama's basketball court so he could show everybody how badly he plays, and Nixon's bowling alley.

But then he mentioned the leftist whining about both Nancy Reagan and Melania Trump.

In Reagan's case, she was vilified for spending big bucks on fancy China. But it turns out Beck had had long discussions with the White House butler. This guy runs the "household" (not sure if he's the guy now, but his service in this capacity goes back decades). Nancy asked him if there was anything he needed, and he mentioned how they didn't have a decent set of China, where all the plates matched. When dignitaries were being feted, he had to scramble to find enough plates for them all and he was embarrassed they didn't all match. Nancy went to work and got a brand new set of dinnerware so that all would have the same fine stuff. The press went nuts, crying about Americans starving while Nancy's eating off fancy China. The butler pleaded with Nancy to let him defend her to the press, but Nancy told him, "You just take care of your job and let me deal with the press. I can handle them." Just as Donald Trump is using his own and private donations to build the ballroom, Nancy did the same to buy the dishes. (At the time Beck was talking with this guy, he told Beck these details after Beck questioned him about it when the butler said she was the best First Lady in his opinion).

In the case of Melania, the press ripped her over the Rose Garden. They wet themselves saying she was destroying Jackie Kennedy's legacy. But the fact is that Melania and the "gardener/designer" with whom she collaborated, had dug up the original plans of Jackie's and restored the Rose Garden to match them.

And while these lefty lunatics scream about Trump "destroying history", they had no problem with those who tore down statues all across the country. They had no problem with those of their kind setting fire to St. John's church...a church attended by most every president going back to at least Madison.

I also read that Newsome is reconstructing/remodeling the state capitol building in Sacramento. Who the hell is screaming at this guy for that?

Another thing Beck said had to do with the Donald noticing how so many doors in the White House had different doorknobs and as well as the poor condition of the restrooms. He bought custom doorknobs with the presidential seal embossed on them, and upgraded the restrooms all at his own cost. He did this during his first term. Upon his return for his second, several doorknobs had mysteriously disappeared!

And of course, when the Clinton's left, not only did she take a couple hundred dollars of furniture with her (only to return it after severe backlash), but her people trashed the place. They even removed "Ws" from all keyboards because George W. Bush was incoming!

BUT TRUMP!!!!

Every single thing you mentioned is True. Clearly the outrage is incredibly selective, and biased against Trump. The most obvious cases in point are the almost $400 Million P-BO renovations, and the Newsome's boondoggle in CA. Not to mention the DFL Taj Mahal office building for legislators that only are in session for a few weeks every other year.

That the TDS sufferers live in a fantasy world where they can ignore the present and revise the past at will, is distressing.

I think that there is a larger point regarding protocol and image that is valuable. When heads of state convene in France, they go to Versailles. In England, Buckingham Palace. In DC, they put up a freaking tent. From a purely security standpoint, a hardened space where larger gatherings of dignitaries can be held withing the WH complex should be an obvious conclusion. We know that a tent isn't going to stop a leftist bullet.
