"The first Marxist ever elected president of a democracy destroyed Chile in under 3 years. Allende won in 1970 promising a peaceful “Chilean road to socialism” by nationalizing the copper mines, the banks, and the farmland. And so to pay for the whole project, the government printed money and imposed price controls. Naturally, inflation hit 200% by 1972. The controls failed, shelves emptied, and people stood in lines for hours while prices ran past 500% a year. By September 1973, when the economy was in freefall, the military stormed the presidential palace, and Allende died inside it. Economists later called the entire sequence “macroeconomic populism”, a populist boom that always ends in the collapse it tried to outrun. Whether democratically elected or taken with brute force, the pattern of economic collapse under socialism is undefeated, almost like you can’t choose to ignore the consequences of ignoring reality."
This seems to be the kind of thing Dan finds acceptable.

"SOCIALISM: Francesca Hong is running for Gov of Wisconsin. When she aired this commercial her restaurant had failed, shut for over a year, sued by Capital One for $30K in unpaid debt & her parents had to pay & her only income was from politics."
Why would we want our candidates to tell us the Truth?
