"The design of the whole of Scripture, and all the parts of it, hath an impress on it of divine wisdom and authority; and hereof there are two parts: first, To reveal God unto men; and secondly, to direct men to come into the enjoyment of God."

God's Greatness
God's greatness does not float over the bible like a gas. It does not lurk in hidden places separate from the meaning of words and sentences. It is seen in and through the meaning of texts..

Ouch
“Lukewarm people don’t really want to be saved from their sin; they want only to be saved from the penalty of their sin.”
It can’t be a coincidence that I’m reading a couple of different authors writing about not being lukewarm.

Dan’s Reason
Dennis Prager has released a commentary on Leviticus as the first of his commentaries on the Torah. The series is titled The Rational Bible, and I’ve heard some really interesting things about it. It’s probably going to be my next Kindle purchase.
But, I would gladly purchase this volume as a free gift for Dan, in exchange for his solemn promise to read the entire thing and provide detailed responses to Prager’s scholarship.

Good
There is a thread that runs through scripture quite literally from Genesis to Revelation that says with varying degrees of clarity that well humans were created to be very good, as a result of the fall humanity yes saddled with a sinful nature. That our very nature, rebels against God. That our good works, are just like filthy rags. But now we see if the man that all of these references, every single one of them, must be taken figuratively. We see the argument put forth that even though Jesus used the word good that he didn’t really mean good. That he meant something else entirely.
It seems incredibly odd to claim that one is being humble by saying “Look look at me and my friends, and look at all the wonderful good thing is we do. Because we are such good people. “
That seems like such a contrast from Jesus telling us that by ourselves and nothing is possible, but through God everything is possible.
And I can’t help but wonder, if we spent less time congratulating ourselves on how good we are, and more time thinking about obeying God, If our sense of self importance and proportion might not be affected for the better.

More silence
It's interesting that the left is vociferous when attacking the sexual peccadilloes of those they disagree with, and bizarrely the complete and total lack of sexual peccadilloes from Mike Pence.
Yet, a liberal nationally known pastor steps down from his role over an apparent pattern of inappropriate sexual behaviors, and those one phe progressive christian side of things say nothing.
Not surprising, the left has been complaining about the Ted Kennedy movie also, the truth is difficult sometimes.

Blocking/Deleting
I was following a Twitter exchange between someone with a background in medicine/science/genetics and some random woman. The random woman was trying to prove the other person wrong with a paragraph from an unsourced “report”, which pointed out an incredibly obvious point. (That a tiny percentage of the population is born with an atypical genetic makeup)
All that to say, that the random woman decided that blocking the scientist for making science arguments was a winning plan.
I’ll say this, I’ve never seen anyone on social media or in the blog world block or delete because they were winning. It’s usually the opposite.
Cudos to people like Dana Loesch who take the most vile attacks from inclusive, tolerant progressives and choooses to respond with calm, loving, graceful comments, instead of blocking people

This is absolutely hilarious
The organizers of the Free Glasgow Pride Parade, have banned drag queens because they don’t want to offend men who mistakenly think they’re women.
Ah, it’s funny to watch the “tolerant, inclusive” left become more intolerant and exclusive.

70 million dollar question
If you had $70,000,000.00 and could only spend it to improve one aspect of life in Africa, what one thing, problem, or program would you deem most pressing?

Book Recommendation
I don’t do this often, and rarely before I’ve finished, but I have to recommend a book I’ve been waiting for for a while.
Target Africa by Obianuju Ekeocha seems like another of these works (DeadbAid, When Helping Hurts) that should make the white, western world rethink our relationship with Africa. Much of this probably applies in other post colonial areas, but this is written from an African perspective. So far, it’s teally good.
I’m also recommending the Eric Metaxis biography of Martin Luther, it’s really well done.
Finally, I’m looking forward to the new biography of Larry Norman as well.
I’m open to other suggestions.

Obsubjectivity
We've just been told that morality is objectively subjective and that to offer any other alternative is to be labeled delusional.
Of course it took a lot more F bombs, other expletives, and ad hom attacks, but that's what it boils down to.
