Post-truth

ADJECTIVE

  • Relating to or denoting circumstances in which objective facts are less influential in shaping public opinion than appeals to emotion and personal belief.

In a world where this is a dictionary definition of an actual term, how can anyone actually complain when politicians don’t tell the truth?

But it's not that politicians don't tell the truth that get the panties of some people wadded up. It's which politicians. Obama supporters, for example, never fretted over the lies he told...which actually affected people. But Trump?

Oh, I see your error. You are using a dictionary as a definitive definition. Since we are post-truth, there can no longer BE an actual definition ... or even truth. (Of course, that also eliminates any complaint that "They're not telling the truth!")
