Voting Security

 https://gazette.com/news/wex/dhs-knew-risks-of-mail-in-voting-but-continued-censoring-concerns-anyway-lawsuit/article_3da5f23c-9f5f-5360-a366-da68579f68d5.amp.html

This seems like a bad thing if it's accurate.

New reports suggest that AZ didn't have signature matches on 25% of mail-in ballots.   That also seems like a bad thing if it's accurate.

We had proof in court that Dominion voting machines were easily hacked, and that GA also had significant issues with significant issues with signature verification.  This also seems bad, if accurate.

Of course, the Fani Willis goat rope isn't looking good for the integrity of GA voting.

IT'S THE "BIG LIE", DAMNIT! THERE'S NO EVIDENCE!

We're lost so long as Dems are anywhere near the levers of power on any level of American government.

To be fair, it's likely that almost any political movement that could get away with manipulating elections with virtually zero consequences would do it.

The problem is that there IS evidence, it's slowly coming out, but it's not accessible enough to have done anything at the time. The hope is that we can clean these folks out enough, and put safeguards in place to stop these kinds of things no matter who does them.

Given the easy and relatively inexpensive state of camera technology, it seems like placing secure (non internet) cameras to cover every inch of the vote counting would be pretty easy and reasonable. It doesn't even take Tech to match signatures.

While it seems probable there will be those on either side of the fence willing to cheat regardless of which side has more, the goal should always be to make cheating as impossible as we can make it. Clearly doing so creates problems for the cheaters, but the left will just have to find a way to deal with it...like maybe finding candidates and policies with real appeal.

I think enough evidence of fraud or election integrity problems were exposed rather quickly for both 2020 and 2022, but technicalities...particularly regarding the time frame for making legal claims...were what made justice impossible. So as well as things like voter ID, one day for voting, paper ballots and the like are essential, so too are the means by which one with what one believes is a legit claim can find recourse to address those claims properly. For example, I was really disappointed with SCOTUS for rejecting the Texas suit on the grounds they and all the other states which joined the suit, had no standing. How could they not given a presidential election impacts every state, not just those where irregularities or fraud took place? If, say, Georgia is known to have altered their election laws contrary to their own state laws, it affects the nation if their questionable results are certified.

In any case, we absolutely cannot have even the appearance of problems in our elections, so to reduce that, change must come.

I think that human nature tells us that pretty much anyone would cheat to win an election if they thought they could get away with it. So obviously, we should do everything possible to make cheating as difficult as possible. Historically, there has been plenty of cheating on both sides, although the Democrats are better known, Pendergast, Tammany Hall and the like.

I agree that the rush for election results, and the delays in investigation make finding out what happened in a timely manner difficult.

I agree that some of the common sense things you suggest would be a great start. Other nations do those things, we should be able to as well. We have the ability to make elections more secure, and to make individual votes count appropriately, and we should do so.
