I don't know, but I'd think that a study of 86 cultures spanning 5000 years of history might be something to pay attention to.    But, I'd guess this means we've got less than three generations before our society collapses.

Let me get this straight.  This idiot is bitching because his free food and housing isn't good enough for his freeloading ass?    I've got a couple of simple solutions.

I'm confused, when a gay couple wants a cake, the baker absolutely must provide them with anything and everything they want, while the old Chatterbox Jazz Club is free to discriminate to their hearts content.  When is tolerance intolerant?

FYI, I agree that businesses should be able for the most part to serve who they want to serve.  If these idiots want to  decrease their customer base, they should be able to.  Of course when they're going out of business they'll be unable to find a relationship between this and that.

Is This a Cabal?

 https://winteryknight.com/2025/03/27/the-cartel-that-is-behind-americans-declining-health-and-fitness/

We had some friends over for dinner the other night, and had to accommodate someone who was gluten free.   While we did so gladly, it raised a question.

When we were growing up 70s-80s, why was there not this huge amount of people  with things like peanut allergies, autism, and the like.   I'm sure that, as far as the autism spectrum, that there were probably kids who were, but weren't officially diagnosed and probably the same for other things.  I'm not saying that these things didn't exist, but they were definitely not as common.

I'm sure that there are many reasons for this, but I can't help but think that the confluence of Big Pharma, Big Food, and Big Government has something to do with it.   I absolutely appreciate many the medicines I take, yet I also acknowledge that part of the reason I take them is because I choose not to make the lifestyle changes that I should make.    Yet, I can't help but wonder about the insane number of "vaccines" that children are "required" to take.    Some I completely get, others not so much.   Yet again, I can't help but wonder how much Big Pharma donating millions to Big Government might affect those requirements.

Likewise, I look at the vast amounts of money generated by the Trans Medical Industrial Complex and wonder how many people are being mutilated because there is a financial reward for the service providers.  How many "therapists" push kids to "trans" because they get compensated more to do so.

I'm trying to to sound like a conspiracy theorist, but when you look at the round robin of huge money that flows between Big Pharma, Big Food, and Big Government, it seems like it might be worth taking a look at the relationships and whether or not they're above board.

On a related topic, EBT.   Why are companies who sell unhealthy foods so intent on lobbying for EBT to be allowed to pay for junk food?    Isn't it job of government to look out for the best interest of it's citizens?   If so, they why is EBT allowed to pay for unlimited unhealthy food?    The excuse is the people need "treats".   Except isn't the very nature of a "treat" that they aren't an everyday occurrence?  Cake and ice cream for a birthday, sure.   But is Coke and a candy bar every day really something that the Feds should be paying for?    Call me crazy, but if you're using other people's money to buy food, and likely other people's money for your health care, then shouldn't you be using a modicum of responsibility for how you use what other people provide for you?    Better food choices, lead to less need for medical services, which stretches out the budget for everyone.

"Islam is not a spiritual religion; it is a territorial one. Everything is designed to occupy land and subjugate people. When the call to prayer is proclaimed, it is a declaration of control over that space. When they pray in the streets, it is to assert dominance over that area. When they buy churches and convert them into mosques, they are claiming the land as theirs. When they convert people, they are asserting ownership over society. When they preach, they are signaling their intent to one day rule that country. Islam is not about saving you—it is about enslaving you."

While I'm not sure you can deny that there is a spiritual component to Islam, I do agree with the premise that Islam has historically expanded based on conquest, forced conversion, and eradicating/enslaving those who don't convert.

I'm starting to see more of this from LGB groups and individuals. That the continued adding of letters to the LGB moniker is driven by those outside the community seems logical. One thing I have seen a fair amount of is hate from the "T" community because the LGBs won't have sex with them.

This is another example of the DFL/APL taking groups who's interests are often completely opposed and shoving them into the DFL tent.   They promise both groups the moon, and inevitably end up favoring one and giving the shaft to the other.

I was listening to this last night at the gym and thought it was an interesting comparison.  The comment that Satan doesn't have access to our thoughts and speculating about how bad it would be if he did was intriguing.   The notion that Satan can only throw stuff at the wall, see what sticks, then give us more of what sticks seemed like a reasonable conclusion.

At the end where they talk about "what voices are you listening to" hit a little close to home, but tracks with what I learned from a social media coach a couple of weeks ago.   What's he's found is that people give more value to anonymous reviews on Yelp than they do to actual humans they know.

Is this theologically perfect, probably not.  It it an interesting way to explain temptation, yes.

Persecution

 https://winteryknight.com/2025/03/24/christian-nurse-punished-by-nhs-for-misgendering-transgender-pedophile/

The NT speaks repeatedly about how Christians will be persecuted for their faith.  I've always been hard pressed to call what happens in the US, Canada, and Western Europe as persecution because it's relatively mild.   Yet,as we see in the story above and others, Christians in The West are subject more and more often to persecution.   What else can you call being jailed for praying in public (especially when Muslims do it daily), being jailed for giving a rose to someone waiting for an abortion, or for a social media post.  It's more and more clear that the "post Christian" society that we've been warned about is more and more a reality in The West.    What I find amazing about stories like this is the hypocrisy embedded in the whole interaction.

The official records labeled the patient a man.

He was a freaking convicted sex criminal, how much consideration should he get?

Medically, properly classifying patients with their biological sex is vital for treatment.  If they'd gone along with his delusion, and given him the dosage of medication prescribed for a woman it' highly likely that the treatment would not have worked.

Why in the hell doesn't the UK have hospitals in their prisons instead of bringing violent felons into a civilian hospital.

This interaction tells us so much about the hierarchy of oppression.   No one bats an eye at his use of racist language directed at her or his threatening actions, and the guards don't sound like they were prompt in protecting the nurse from his threats.

This is indicative of so many things wrong with the UK, and a preview of coming attractions in the US and Canada.

BTW, I saw a video of a young Canadian woman  over the weekend who was told that it would a 13 months for diagnostic scans to confirm whether or not her BRAIN TUMOR might be a problem for her or not.  For all of the things that are less than desirable about the US healthcare industry, there is no way in hell that someone with a BRAIN TUMOR would have to wait 13 days for diagnostic imaging.    I'm shocked they didn't recommend suicide.

I Am.

12 Then Jesus again spoke to them, saying, “I am the Light of the world; the one who follows Me will not walk in the darkness, but will have the Light of life.”

16 But even if I do judge, My judgment is true; for I am not alone in it, but I and the Father who sent Me. 17 Even in your Law it has been written that the testimony of two people is [e]true. 18 I am He who testifies about Myself, and the Father who sent Me testifies about Me.” 19 So they were saying to Him, “Where is Your Father?” Jesus answered, “You know neither Me nor My Father; if you knew Me, you would know My Father also.”

21 Then He said again to them, “I am going away, and you will look for Me, and will die in your sin; where I am going, you cannot come.” 22 So the Jews were saying, “Surely He will not kill Himself, will He, since He says, ‘Where I am going, you cannot come’?” 23 And He was saying to them, “You are from below, I am from above; you are of this world, I am not of this world. 24 Therefore I said to you that you will die in your sins; for unless you believe that [g]I am, you will die in your sins.” 25 Then they were saying to Him, “Who are You?” Jesus said to them, [h]What have I even been saying to you from the beginning? 26 I have many things to say and to judge regarding you, but He who sent Me is true; and the things which I heard from Him, these I say to the world.” 27 They did not realize that He was speaking to them about the Father. 28 So Jesus said, “When you lift up the Son of Man, then you will know that [i]I am, and I do nothing [j]on My own, but I say these things as the Father instructed Me. 29 And He who sent Me is with Me; He [k]has not left Me alone, for I always do the things that are pleasing to Him.” 30 As He said these things, many came to believe in Him.

“Truly, truly I say to you, before Abraham [s]was born, [t]I am.” 59 Therefore they picked up stones to throw at Him, but Jesus hid Himself and left the temple grounds.

The words of Jesus.

The Purpose of Terrorism is to Terrorize

Sometime I'll do another Bits of Tid post, but this seems worthy of it's own.

There's a lot of hatred for Musk floating around out there and some of the suggestions are interesting.   The notion that it is appropriate to commit violent felonies, and cause significant property damage to Teslas, while right in line with the 2020 Summer of Love riots, is objectively insane.

The trading in of Teslas to by VW, BMW, or Audi electric cars lis literally going from supporting a company owned by a fake NAZI, to supporting companies that literally supported real NAZIs.

What might be the stupidest are the shots at Space X.    The notion that Space X shouldn't be paid for sending a rocket up the the ISS to retrieve the astronauts who've been stuck up there for months, or that paying for services rendered is some sort of "subsidy" is stupid enough.    That there's a move to stop paying Space X because they've had test rockets explode (some intentionally, some not) as if experimental rocket stuff is never going to malfunction or need to be command detonated, is even stupider.

If people are living in fear because of these idiots burning Cyber trucks (they are really ugly ugly, but that's another issue) and having to put stickers on them for "protection" (like the poor black business owner who painted Black Owned on their plywood and got burned and looted anyway in MPLS), then this is literally terrorism.

What's interesting is that when conservatives got upset with Bud Light a couple of years ago, they simply stopped buying Bud Light and bought different beer.   When liberals get upset about something, they loot, burn, vandalize, and destroy.   Or they threaten to do those things.   "No justice, no peace" is literally a terrorist threat given the 2020 Summer of Love and how they threatened the Chauvin jury.

Limits

I'm not going to go too deep into this, but I think that the pardon reversal story does have one interesting aspect.

From the founding of our republic up until fairly recently, the notion that a president would not sign official documents in person seems to have not even been considered.  Only recently with the advent of technology is this auto signing even an option.   (as opposed to electronic remote signatures)   When you add to this the rumors of mental decline of both Reagan and Biden, the possibility of misuse becomes more of a concern.

So while, I generally consider the pardon power absolute, I would also agree that if someone slipped an extra pardon or two into a stack for auto signatures that those pardons would not be valid as POTUS was unaware of them.   Obviously this extends to anything that needs a presidential signature being misused.

Where I see the value in Trump's action is  that this is clearly something that needs to be litigated to determine when, if ever, an actual signature is required.   I think I can make peace with whatever the outcome is, but it needs to be dealt with.   If I was Trump, I would promulgate an EO regarding the appropriate use of the auto pen and under what circumstances it will be used.   It does seem like there should be limits on it's use, and sooner rather than later.

Body Cams

I watched a body cam video from an airport cop dealing with a British woman that was either exceedingly entitled, nuts, or on drugs, reinforced something I've believed for a while.

Back when the left demanded that body cams be standard issue for all cops, the assumption they hoped to prove is that all/most/many cops were racist/corrupt/abusive/etc.   While there have been a few of those, it's not what the left hoped for.

What body cams have shown is that cops are generally more polite, patient, and show more restraint than most would have assumed.   They've also shown that cops have to deal with people on a regular basis who demonstrate how the absolute dregs of society behave.  In all honesty, the amount of restraint shown in the face of violence, disrespect, and irrational behavior is impressive.

For those on the right who opposed body cams, you/we were wrong.   It's actually harmed the leftist narrative, as well as provided endless entertainment.

Real Journalism

 https://www.nytimes.com/2025/03/16/opinion/covid-pandemic-lab-leak.html

When it comes to one of the most revered practitioners of real journalism, the NYT has always been one of the most revered institutions in the US.   Yet it only took them a few years to admit that COVID was a lie, and I suspect that they'll downplay their role in spreading and lending their credibility as real journalists to the lie.   That the "Grey Lady" and scion of the "Fourth Estate", was spreading government propaganda for years instead of exposing the government lies is surely one indication that real journalism is passing from the hands of the MSM, and into the hands of those less beholden to the government they're supposed to hold accountable.

That so many on the left will ignore both the complicity of the MSM in this massive lie, and will continue to wear masks and spout the propaganda seems to indicate a desire to continue to exert control as opposed to a desire for Truth and real journalism.

Justice? Mulitculturalism? Hypocrisy? This has it all.

 https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/cn892zq6z43o

"A United Nations judge has been convicted of forcing a young woman to work as a slave.

Prosecutors said Lydia Mugambe "took advantage of her status" over her victim by preventing her from holding down steady employment while forcing her to work as her maid and provide childcare for free.

The 49-year-old, who is also a High Court judge in Uganda, was found guilty of conspiring to facilitate the commission of a breach of UK immigration law, facilitating travel with a view to exploitation, forcing someone to work, and conspiracy to intimidate a witness."

" In footage released by Thames Valley Police, Mugambe appeared shocked when an officer said he was arresting her under the Modern Slavery Act.

She then had a conversation with the officer, in which she said: "I am a judge in my country, I even have immunity. I am not a criminal."

It's crap like this that blows my mind that the APL is obsessed with slavery in antebellum America, and ancient Israel, but doesn't invest a fraction of that vehemence on slavery in 2025 in the UK.

Given the UK's soft stance on the extensive rings of Pakistani men raping children, it's a small step in the right direction that they charged this one slave owner.

Given that the UN regularly puts some of the most evil and repressive regimes on the planet in charge of human rights committed, it's really no surprise that this woman was a UN judge.

Genius

 https://x.com/joncoopertweets/status/1900279304602124558?s=51&t=cLq01Oy84YkmYPZ-URIMYw

" Not a SINGLE Democratic senator should vote for the Republican spending bill. It would simply further embolden and empower Trump in his effort to destroy our government and the vital services it provides. STAND YOUR GROUND AND FIGHT — LIKE HOUSE DEMOCRATS DID!!"

By this genius logic, it would be completely appropriate to say that no Republican should ever vote of any DFL spending bill.

COVID was BS

"Let me see if I got this right: When Biden mandated that we wear stupid-ass paper masks, NO JUDGE INTERVENED ON OUR BEHALF. When Biden mandated that we get vaccinated or lose our jobs, NO JUDGE INTERVENED ON OUR BEHALF. But when President Trump mandates DEPORTATIONS for CRIMINAL ILLEGALS AND GANG MEMBERS… …HE can be stopped? AND BY A PIECE OF SHT JUDGE SOMEWHERE?! I don’t know who TF Judge James Boasberg is… …BUT I KNOW I DIDN’T VOTE FOR HIM. Either we HAVE A PRESIDENT or we don't. Either we have a functioning government or we don’t. Because no matter how you slice it: If JUST BEING at the Capitol on January 6 was "insurrection"... ...you can be damn sure that overthrowing the will of the ACTUAL PRESIDENT is 100x WORSE."

Byl Holte

These all seem like pretty reasonable points. Back during COVID we had Biden firing people throughout government who had perfectly valid (especially in hindsight) concerns about the "vaccine". Likewise, we had people enforcing the (now proven) made up, bullshit, fake mask mandates and social distancing, yet those on the left were all for that. Hell, I remember leftists wishing slow, painful, deaths on those who wouldn't bend the knee. Hell, the feds coerced Big Eva leaders to lie from their pulpits. They coerced Social Media companies to both lie and censor the Truth. The feds gave Big Pharma huge get out of jail free card for the "vaccine" (I know Trump isn't innocent). Finally various governments actually forced people to do things that killed people, forced the elderly to die alone, all for the sake of something that the US, Germany, the UK and China knew to be a lie.

I'm not defending everything Trump is doing, but it seems like justice demands that we hold both parties to the same standard.

Music Monday

I was listening to an interview with Sam Amidon yesterday and I was intrigued by his story.   He is primarily grounded in variations of scared/folk/roots music from decades ago.   Much of what interests him is Sacred Harp and similar musical styles.  As he described those styles of music, it was an instance of people taking the text of various sacred pieces of music, and arranging them to more popular tunes intended for singing in a large group of people.  (I probably explained that poorly)   In short this was an attempt to make the sacred music of the day more accessible to more people.   As I listened to the interview it became clear that his interest in the music was historical, not theological.   It seems clear that he has no faith motivating him to share the theological messages of the songs, but wants people to experience them as historical artifacts.   Much like the Lomax recording and other similar attempts to capture music with historical value.    From a preservation standpoint, and to share this music with a new generation, I applaud his efforts.

My question, however, is this.

Does taking music that was originally written and sung within a spiritual/sacred context, removing the intended spiritual/sacred purpose, change the effect or neuter the music?    I see this much like I see the phenomenon of pop stars, who are clearly anything but Christian or anti Christian, recording Christmas hymns.   On the one hand, it's probably good that this spiritual/sacred music is getting more exposure on the other it's clearly not intended to further the original purpose of worship.

I don't think this negates the value of this music as history, but it also seems to be minimizing the sacred aspect.

On a related note, Springsteen has borrowed liberally from many church traditions (especially the black church) in terms of the language he uses, his cadence for many of his stage raps, and the tonality of his speech.   It's almost like he's trying to pass off a rock concert as a quasi religious experience.

------------------

I discovered a live Fleetwood Mac recording from 1977 this weekend.  It was recorded on the Rumors tour, with out all of the auxiliary musicians they added on later tours.   It sounds really good, and I enjoyed it a lot.   They did Oh Well part 1 and I don't know if I'd ever heard this verse before.

"Now when I talked to God, I knew He'd understand

He said "Stick by me and I'll be your guiding hand

But don't ask me what I think of you

I might not give the answer that you want me to."

Obviously they weren't trying to do theology here, but I think there's some Truth to be gleaned here.

Something Fishy

I'm not Roman Catholic for numerous reasons, but walking into lunch today and seeing the fish for Catholics menu I couldn't help but wonder why fish meat isn't considered meat.   Does it transubstantiate somehow when it hits the cooking medium?   Or is it just a deal to help Catholic owned fishmongers?

Seems Wrong

 https://winteryknight.com/2025/03/13/jp-morgan-chase-changes-policy-for-de-banking-christians-and-conservatives/

I don't know, but it seems like this is wrong on some level.

Either business have the ability to serve whoever they want based on their own criteria, or they must serve anyone regardless.   It doesn't seem like there's a middle ground on this.

Although in the US religion IS a protected class, which seems to indicate that there was a violation of the law here.

Bits of Tid

 https://x.com/nancyrpearcey/status/1899621484114694615?s=51&t=cLq01Oy84YkmYPZ-URIMYw

"How the ancient world knew there is a God: A century before Christ, the great Roman writer Cicero said, "When we see something moved by machinery, like an orrery [mechanical model of the planets] or clock or many other such things, we do not doubt that these contrivances are the work of reason; When therefore we behold the whole compass of heaven moving with revolutions of marvelous velocity and ... perfect regularity ... how can we doubt that all this is effected not merely by reason, but by a reason that is transcendent and divine?" So when Paul wrote the book of Romans, his audience knew as well as we do that the cosmos gives evidence of a mind that is "transcendent and divine." Cicero concludes, "You see not the Deity," yet "by the contemplation of his works you are led to acknowledge a God.""

Strangely enough we as enlightened, educated, 21st century humans have gone to so much effort to obscure what the Romans took for granted centuries ago.

 "Breaking:

People close to @WhiteHouse believe @JoeBiden increased federal spending by as much as $300 billion in his final months of his presidency to juice the economy and markets and help @KamalaHarris get elected. That combined that with rolling over short term debt in order not to force rates on the all-important 10 year note (which consumers rates are priced off of) to spike higher, has left a balance sheet mess of epic proportions. They say this spending spree provides an insight into the mountain of debt and deficits that Trump must start to eliminate. Story developing."

I'm not sure how much credence we should give this yet, although the stories about Biden staffers using the auto pen to what seems to be an excessive degree, does make it seem logical that there were staffers who actually could have done this. If this turns out to be True, it's treason. If we find out the Biden staffers were using the auto pen to essentially forge Biden's signature without his knowledge, this has the possibility to be a huge scandal.

"Richard Dawkins admits the results of his own materialist philosophy are "intolerable": Richard Dawkins claims that humans are “survival machines—robot vehicles blindly programmed” by their genes. Meat machines. He illustrates with an episode from the comedy show Fawlty Towers. When Fawlty’s little red car won’t start, first he counts to three, like a parent with a disobedient child. Then he picks up a branch and starts thrashing it. The episode always gets a laugh. But Dawkins asks, “Why don’t we laugh at a judge who punishes a criminal? Doesn’t a truly scientific, mechanistic view of the nervous system make nonsense of the very idea of responsibility?” Dawkins was later promoting his latest book at a bookstore, and a young man asked him, If you think we are not really responsible for our actions, should we be crediting you with this book? Surprisingly, Dawkins immediately backed down: He said, I do respond emotionally, “I do blame people, I give people credit.” The young man pressed him: “But don’t you see that as an inconsistency in your views?" Dawkins: “I sort of do, yes. But it is an inconsistency that we sort of have to live with, otherwise life would be intolerable.” It was an amazing admission that if we lived by the worldview Dawkins himself promotes, life would be intolerable."

What is it with the leading materialists/science popularizers  being so honest about the incoherence of the worldview they insist is True and supported by science?

So I usually just quote the most ideological and insane sections of the woke papers I share here, but the abstract of this new paper is so unhinged that I'll let it speak for itself in full.

This paper demonstrates what's wrong with "Science", the academy, and the peer review process all at the same time.

This is a great example of the difference between "objective morality" grounded in something beyond humanity, and morality as described by sociologists.

Any example of non objective morality is simply someone's personal preference enforced through those in power.

This is a pretty stupid post.

????

If "eternal torture" is so incredibly horrible.  If it is the antithesis of "loving" and "just". is eternal separation more loving and more just?  Is annihilation?  Is allowing the worst of humanity the same result as the best of humanity?   Is it just to force someone who spent their entire life being hostile to YHWH, to spend eternity with YHWH?

Numerology

"Jesus spoke endlessly of the realm of God, the Kingdom of Heaven, etc. These ARE passages of heaven, I'd say and that would equal way more than the five Hells that Jesus mentions. There are 31 distinct mentions of the Kingdom of Heaven in Matthew alone (and again, some of those are repeats of the word within one passage/teaching, but still)."

"Kingdom of God, on the other hand, shows up 54 times in the four gospels."

If it's possible to precisely quantify the number of times Jesus spoke of the Kingdon of God, then He clearly did not do so "endlessly".

One could certainly, reasonably assume that this "Kingdom of Heaven/God" would be a place free from all of the results of the fall.   A place where YHWH redeems His Creation and His people so that they are fit to be the Bride of Christ.     It seems strange that a perfect God would force those who spent their entire earthly lives avoiding Him, to spend eternity with Him.    It seems strange that (for those who lean Arminian or non reformed) that YHWH would force that who used their "free will" to CHOOSE not to follow YHWH to spend eternity with Him.    It also seems strange that Jesus was clear that this "Kingdom of God" could only be accesses through a "narrow gate" that "few" will enter, and that He alone was
The Way, The Truth, and The Life", yet that He somehow meant that none of those things was actually True.

"Jesus certainly did not talk more about hell than heaven and he barely spoke of hell."

This notion that the number of times Jesus mentioned something somehow determines anything about the topic is bizarre.   If Jesus only mentioned "Hell" (specifically) once does that mean that hell does not exist?    This is especially strange given the number of topics Jesus  was completely silent on, yet many folx insist are His clear teachings.

Data v. Narrative

 https://winteryknight.com/2025/03/12/new-study-concealed-carriers-better-at-stopping-active-shooters-than-police/

The data has never supported the anti gun position.  Even from the earliest days of CCW permits, the data showed that CCW actually had a positive effect.   Fast forward to today.   Even though we know, data, that the US rates of gun violence are predominantly due to a TINY number of repeat offenders, the too many guns myth is still popular.  The corollary to that is the "assault rifle" myth that enormously exaggerates what the data tells us about the use of "assault rifles" in actual crimes.   Finally, there's the twisting of statistics.  That suicides are lumped in with drug gang murders should tell us that there is no real attempt to accurately report the data.   That "defensive" uses of firearms are so wildly underrepresented in the Narrative also raises questions.

In short, how can we have a serious discussion of the extent of a problem, if one side skews the "data" in order to forestall having the discussion.

COVID

Well, it is becoming so clear that any  reasonably intelligent person can't really argue with it, that the entire COVID response was total bullshit.   To be fair, Trump deserves some of the blame for this.  Especially in blindly believing Fauci.  Yet Trump's response seems mostly driven by concern, tempered with federalism.  His drive to find a vaccine, at the time, was laudable even if it looks like a license to print money and a get out of jail free card for big pharma in hindsight.

The bigger problem, IMO, was the "scientific establishment" and the "experts" who used their credentials to force compliance on people and institutions, big eva who rolled over and put their legs in the air for the federal government, the MSM who continued to spread the bullshit and ridiculed anyone who pushed back.  Between the MSM and big pharma, their quashing of the evidence about Ivermectin and Chlorthalidone, caused who knows how much harm.    The governors, CA and NY we're looking at you, who instituted the most draconian measures and literally killed people.   Whoever funded the research in Wuhan that potentially led to the COVID release, and the scum that poo-pooed the lab release theory.

Finally to the reprobates like Dan, who went out of their way to back the draconian restrictions, bullied anyone who refused to submit, ridiculed and lied about things like Ivermectin, and were insufferable for years in protecting and promoting utter bullshit.

Nice job, y'all really screwed things up.  How much of the decline in student performance is directly related to y'all?   We'll probably never know, but there's no question that y'all are part of that problem too.

Constitution, Schmonstitution.

 https://x.com/barnes_law/status/1899595849853993317?s=51&t=cLq01Oy84YkmYPZ-URIMYw

I'm not a lawyer, and I don't play one on TV, but I would have thought that the court system in Washington state was under the authority of both the US Constitution as well as the WA state constitution.   That a court would not allow a constitutional argument to be made in a case where the constitutional issues were important, let alone refusing to allow a defense attorney to  make a perfectly appropriate and legal argument, tells me that WA is pretty much a banana republic at this point.

When Philosophy Wins

"Another materialist finds he cannot live with his own philosophy: Marvin Minsky of MIT is best known for his punchy phrase that the human brain is nothing but “a three-pound computer made of meat.” Computers have no free will, so the implication is, neither do we. Yet, he says, we cannot live with such a reductionist view: “No matter that the physical world provides no room for freedom of will; that concept is essential to our models of the mental realm." We cannot "ever give it up." Thus "We're virtually forced to maintain that belief, even though we know it's false"--false, that is, according to his materialist worldview. This is a serious case of cognitive dissonance. When a concept (like free will) keeps bubbling up inescapably, irresistibly, unavoidably—even in the mind of someone whose worldview tells them “it’s false”—that means they are bumping against the truths of reality, of the created order. When your philosophical beliefs do not match the real world, it is time to go back to the drawing board and rethink those beliefs."

Nancy Pearcey

The notion that people like this can't be wrong, is one of the things about the academic/intellectual/scientism class that is the most concerning. That some one would knowingly and willingly believe something that they admit to be false simply to attempt to align their philosophical pre-commitment with their lived experience is concerning to say the least.

This morning NBC news did a story about recession fears based on Trump's moves so far as president.   Usually the above definition of  a recession is used, except when it's not.   During the Biden/Harris administration, we went 3-4 quarters with negative economic growth, yet no one referred to that as a recession.   Yet now we're freaking out over a recession after Trump has been in office less than 2 months.   Call me crazy, but I thought that two quarters was 6 months.   Perhaps the fearmongering is premature.
