I'm shocked that someone like Dan is either ignorant of what Maher talks about in this clip, or simply isn't moved enough to get engaged. Dan goes to great lengths to rail on child marriage, forced marriage, marrying captives taken in war, and all sorts of shortcomings in ancient Israel's treatment of women, but not so much about what's going on right now. A few "Christian nationalists" who've said yucky things, but not actually done very much, are the crisis du jour, while women in Muslim countries... Not so much outrage for them. He only has so much time and energy and he can't be outraged at everything, besides these things aren't a problem here. (Or are they?) There is just too much "right wing extremism" out there to be worried about women being oppressed or mentally ill "trans" shooters.

Maher continues to nail the Captain Obvious role perfectly (not particularly humorously), and his lefty audience pretends to get it.
What's really at play here is what Tyrus (from the Gutfeld! show) and others refer to as "1st World" problems. Those would be problems which aren't nearly as problematic as the "progressive" left pretend they are, while real and severe human suffering continues elsewhere in the world. But it's coming here and is here as Maher noted. The left still focuses on that which often isn't truly a problem at all, because "Orange Man Bad".
That may be so, but Maher is a liberal. He's theoretically speaking to his own people. This oppression has been going on for decades, and folx like Dan spread the "It's voluntary, and they like it." lie to avoid having to confront it. If one of the most important principles underpinning your political philosophy is "empowering women", yet you are not actively working against the systematic oppression of millions of women, then you don't really care that much about women in general. As you note, the ASPL focuses on the first world problems that oppress women (except encouraging the "trans") stuff like unlimited abortion, unrealistic expectations, cosmetic surgery, or lying to them about obesity being healthy. While ignoring women around the world, unless they happen to be used as human shields by Hamas. Israeli women raped daily for over a year, bopkess. Hamas women used as human shields, performative horror.
That's exactly the point. Western Europe is the canary in the coal mine on these issues, and the ASPL has better things to worry about.
To be fair, I think most heterosexual human males dig "hot babes" to some degree or another. It's not like male and female humans weren't created to find the opposite sex physically attractive. "Hot" is probably subjective to some degree or another (although research has established some pretty objective standards of what people find beautiful), so Trump digging "hot babes" isn't something surprising. His inability to stay faithful, while not surprising, isn't ideal.
