Reaction

I don't understand why it's all of a sudden controversial to suggest that people react to other people's actions and words.

I suspect that there are a fair number of voters who plan to vote for Trump, but know that saying so out loud will expose them to all sorts of negative responses.  So they stay quiet, don't respond to polls, don't post on socials, but they do vote.   Not only do they vote, but the way people portray them actually makes them more likely to vote and it makes them more persuasive when they engage in private conversations with their friends.

Likewise, if you are always told that you are a "X", why would it be surprising that you end up actually being a "X"?

I've written about this before in the context of simply attacking and demonizing your opponents isn't a good way to win them over.

It's ironic that so many folx get surprised by unintended consequences so often.

If you are always told you are an X why would it be surprising to end up being an X? Well, if X is being an idiot who is racist and sexist and a sexual predator, one would not want to be identified with X in any way, shape or form if one had any sense of decency or reason.

Does this need to be explained to you? Do you disagree?

Re: surprise at unintended consequences...

You do realize, don't you, that riots and looting are a direct and predictable result of yours of Oppression and racism and racist systems? That these riots are probably an unintended consequence, the one that was entirely predictable?

"Does this need to be explained to you?"

No

"Do you disagree?"

Yes.

"You do realize, don't you, that riots and looting are a direct and predictable result of yours of Oppression and racism and racist systems?"

They might be one of many "predictable" results, but certainly not inevitable.

"That these riots are probably an unintended consequence, the one that was entirely predictable?"

Quote and link to where I said anything about riots.

Otherwise, it's just you piling up more made up bullshit, while ignoring much.

They're a direct result of low character, and that's true even if the perceptions of oppression, racism and racist systems are accurate and true. Looting, destroying and inflicting physical harm are not the responses of honorable people.

So, let's try answering one question.

If you are told from your childhood that you are "X" (stupid, lazy, inferior, or smart, motivated, and superior) do you think that those sorts of messages increase or decrease the likelihood of growing up to believe that you are "X"?

Data shows the negative messages can have negative consequences. But no one is telling white people that white people are bad. Let me say that again. Read it slowly so you can understand it.

No one. Is. Saying. That. White. People. Are. Bad.

What we are saying is that some good number of white people, especially White conservatives are whiny and snowflakes who get easily offended.

If some white conservatives keep hearing people point out how white privilege is a real thing and those white conservatives internalize it and say they want me to feel bad about myself, they're saying white people are bad, well, there's no accounting for stupidity or embraced ignorance and helplessness.

So, it seems as though you are answering the question I asked with a "yes". But, for some strange reason equivocation is something you can't quite leave behind.

"But no one is telling white people that white people are bad. Let me say that again. Read it slowly so you can understand it. No one. Is. Saying. That. White. People. Are. Bad."

Of course this string of repetition, makes absolutely zero sense. Unless you can show me with a quote and a link where I said anything that would make this bizarre outburst relevant.

"What we are saying is that some good number of white people, especially White conservatives are whiny and snowflakes who get easily offended."

Again, since you aren't responding to anything I've said, I have to wonder what if leading you to write such out of context nonsense. Further, either you are claiming to to black or simply trying to speak for all black people.

"If some white conservatives keep hearing people point out how white privilege is a real thing and those white conservatives internalize it and say they want me to feel bad about myself, they're saying white people are bad, well, there's no accounting for stupidity or embraced ignorance and helplessness."

I'm becoming concerned for your mental health, there's been nothing in this thread that any of your rambling relates to, and it's concerning. That you can't answer one simple question without multiple paragraphs of nonsense...

"No one. Is. Saying. That. White. People. Are. Bad."

Really? You are stating this as an absolute certainty? Can you prove your claim?

Dan,

I just made the mistake of looking into the cesspool of a comment thread at your blog. I doubt you'll concern yourself with this, but the last two comments contain falsehoods, I don't expect you to do anything about them, especially not to ask for proof, yet I want to let you know. This will prevent you from ever claiming ignorance of the falsehoods you allow on your blog.
