Chicago, Definitely Not My Kind of Town

 https://cwbchicago.com/2025/09/days-before-fatal-mag-mile-crash-and-grab-accused-man-posed-with-governor-at-peacekeeper-event.html

Let's get this straight.  In downtown Chicago, where the mayor just said he wanted to eradicate the police and jails, there was a robbery that resulted in a death.  The guy who's accused of this crime posed with the freaking governor of the freaking state.

What a shit hole.

Thus, I had more than "sufficient" reason for relocating.

No one is arguing otherwise. You can exercise your right of self determination for any reason you'd like.

We left Illinois (and living in a western suburb of Chicago) in 1995 because of the politics, taxes, and horrid schools (began home-schooling). All Illinois has done was getting worse and worse since then. Iowa is a whole let better.

Of all of the really big cities in the US, Chicago is the one I've enjoyed visiting the most. Yet I have no desire to live there.

The problem with making it about IL, as opposed to Chicago, is that I suspect that IL is much like MN and MO in that most of the geographic area of the state is red, but that the blue urban areas exert policy control.
