"One question I had is that you are now requiring applicants to be able to do a certain kind of pull-ups, which a lot of women cannot because of physiological differences."
Mazie Hirono, one of the stupider US senators currently sitting made a significant faux pas when questioning FBI director Kash Patel yesterday. She unintentionally acknowledge the biological reality which the DFL and "trans" community has been denying for years. Specifically that there are "physiological differences" between men and women.
That Patel is applying the physical standards to specific roles within the FBI in a completely neutral way, completely confounds her. The FBI has physical standards for certain roles, and those standards apply across the board to any agents who are in those roles.
In the end biology and physiology trump ideology every time.

Hirono represents all which is wrong with Hawaii...a state for which I have a great fondness.
That is obviously True. But the fact that she just undermined every pro "trans" argument out there with one ignorant/idiotic statement is awesome. Common sense and science tell us that women and men are not the same and that men have musculoskeletal advantages over women in areas the require physical strength. Beyond that, it literally is simple common sense that sending LE into a situation where that cannot hold their own physically is a recipe for disaster. Someone is going to get injured or killed because one of their teammates can't cut the mustard.
The best thing about this is that the physical requirements do not automatically exclude women. They only exclude the women who can't meet the standard. Just like it excludes men who can't meet the standard
Absolutely. While there are legit concerns about other sex differences, meeting the physical will at least mean that when strength and power are needed, it will be there.
Overall, the whole concept of lowering standards to accommodate any who have failed to meet the existing standards is typical "woke" nonsense which existed before the term "woke" came into regular usage. But throughout all such examples, it failed to focus on helping applicants meet the existing standard and how THAT is what makes the group more effective in doing whatever it is it does.
That's my point. Having the same qualifications for everyone, for specific positions in LE and the military makes sense. Doing so discriminates equally against the unqualified, and in favor of the qualified.
I suspect that you will find more women physically qualified for positions like this as opposed to many military roles or firefighters which require higher levels of physical abilities.
Maybe we need some intellectual qualifications for elected officials...
