Well... they're morons. I'm thinking that's not what you mean.

No, that's not what I mean.

They all supported keeping the filibuster when they were the minority party, and now seek to get rid of it. Which doesn't preclude them being morons. It's more likely that they are shortsighted, partisan hacks, who don't understand that they'll likely want the filibuster back after the 2022 midterms.

They're like little kids who can't see past what they want right now. But I'm convinced they truly believe they'd never lose power if they got their way and their way won't bite them in the ass later, regardless of how far in the future that takes place. Though I will say I don't believe a single one of them cares once their time is done. Good people like to leave the world a better place. Dem politicians don't care about such things.

So much of what happens on the political left in recent memory is exactly like little children throwing a tantrum because they aren't getting exactly what they want. In this case, they are being incredibly short sighted and ignoring the fact that it's likely that they will be in the minority soon, and that they might find the filibuster useful in that situation.

I predict that it they are able to get rid of the filibuster, that they will blame the GOP for the fact that it's been gotten rid of when they realize that they have no power as the minority party.

It's too bad that they've given up on actually negotiating legislation with their opponents and actually crafting bills that are actual compromises. I think it's the attitude that the GOP has nothing of value to contribute, and that "compromise" means agree with our partisan legislation or else.
