The NFL Draft

The annual NFL slave market, or draft is over and the big news is Shedure Sanders.

1.   What's ignored is that the people who are bloviating about this are people who's job it is to predict drafts.  They don't actually evaluate talent, they aren't in the meeting rooms or draft rooms, and they really contribute very little.   Yet, they're so upset and being wrong and trying to hang on to relevance (and a paycheck) that it's actually funny.

2.  Sanders and his father are going to be a huge pain in the ass to whatever team drafted him.   Deion is officially starting his campaign to be the head coach of the Browns.  This kid had marginal success where it counts,  isn't a generational talent, interviewed terribly, and chose not to participate in events that could have raised his stock.

Given that the overall number 1 pick was a black QB, and (likely) the majority of players taken in the draft are black, it's absurd to try to make this about race.   It's about someone acting entitled and spoiled before proving himself.

The upside is that he has the opportunity to learn some humility, distance himself from his dad (in a football sense), and show his skills in the field.  At this point, it seems clear that his talent doesn't justify putting up with his attitude.

It appears that the mother was, in fact, an illegal alien who was rightfully deported.   When given the option she chose to take her 2 year old with her.   Sounds like the mother is more to blame that the administration.   Strangely enough, the MSM headlines were (once again) incredibly deceptive.

"The Prophet was asked, “O Messenger of Allah, do we have sexual intercourse in Paradise?” He replied: “Yes, by the One in Whose Hand is my soul, a man will have sexual intercourse with a hundred virgins in one morning.” (Ibn Majah, 4337) Muhammad explicitly stated that men in paradise will have endless sexual stamina, never experiencing fatigue. The virgins, in turn, never get tired, never say no, and are always ready for intercourse. “Indeed, We have produced the women of Paradise in a [new] creation. And made them virgins, devoted [to their husbands] and of equal age.” (Quran 56:35-37) “Fair ones reserved in pavilions. Untouched before by any man or jinn.” (Quran 55:72-74) Large, round breasts:“Indeed, for the pious there is a triumph… full-breasted companions of equal age.” (Quran 78:31-33) The Arabic term kawa‘ib in 78:33 literally means “firm, swelling breasts.” Big, lustrous eyes:“They will have maidens with intensely white skin and large black eyes, as if they were hidden pearls.” (Quran 52:20) Glowing, hairless, smooth skin:“If one of the women of paradise were to appear to the people of the earth, she would fill the space between heaven and earth with light and fragrance.” (Tirmidhi, 2538) A single intercourse with one of the virgins of paradise will last seventy thousand years.” Another hadith states that men will be given the strength of 100 men in sexual performance. (Tirmidhi, 2536) According to Al-Suyuti, a famous Islamic scholar: “The believer will be given such and such strength in paradise for intercourse… A single intercourse with one of the virgins of paradise will last seventy thousand years.” (Al-Suyuti, Al-Haba’ik fi Akhbar al-Mala’ik) These “virgins” don’t need to poop, pee, or sweat, they exist for one purpose: eternal male pleasure. “They will neither urinate, defecate, nor suffer from phlegm or mucus. Their sweat will be musk.” (Muslim, 2834) “They will be hairless except for their eyebrows and eyelashes.” (Tirmidhi, 2536) A believer doesn’t get just one virgin, he gets dozens, or even hundreds. “A martyr will have 72 virgins.” (Tirmidhi, 1663) “The lowest rank of a person in paradise will have 80,000 servants and 72 wives.” (Ibn Majah, 4337) What kind of God rewards faithfulness with an eternal orgy? What kind of religion reduces the afterlife to a hypersexualized playground?"

This is what those on the left who support Islam are supporting.   I'm sure the feminists appreciate the DFL support of this misogyny.

Apparently the left does believe that some people are above the law.  What's disgusting about this case is that the judge allowed these scum to escape while in the middle of a trial for a violent crime, and while the victims (who were already in fear of retaliation)  had to sit in the courtroom and watch their attackers get special treatment.

"What AG Pam Bondi detailed shows it’s getting worse for Milwaukee Judge Dugan, arrested for obstructing ICE - including that what she did was in front of witnesses: “This guy was in court being prosecuted by a state prosecutor for domestic violence battery. He had beat up two people, a guy and a girl, beat the guy, hit the guy 30 times, knocked him to the ground, choked him, beat up a woman so badly, they both had to go to the hospital.” The victims “were sitting in the courtroom with the state prosecutor, the judge learns that ICE was outside to get the guy because he had been deported in 2013, came back in our country, commits these crimes and is charged with committing these crimes. Victims are in court, the judge finds out” ICE is there to arrest him, “she goes out in the hallway, screams at the immigration officers, she's furious, visibly shaken upset, sends them off to talk to the chief judge. She comes back in the courtroom, takes the defendant and the defense attorney back in her chambers, takes them out the private exit and tells them to leave, while a state prosecutor and victims of domestic violence are sitting in the court room.”

"Why did the gay rights movement succeed while the trans rights movement collapsed? Because they were fighting forGay rights asked for freedom: "Leave us alone." Trans activism demanded validation: "Affirm our inner identity externally." Freedom respects boundaries. Validation requires constant participation. They're not the same. fundamentally different things.

Gay rights respected that people could disagree or disapprove and still leave us alone. Trans activism treats mere disagreement as violence. Freedom tolerates difference. Validation demands uniformity. Different foundations, different outcomes.

Gay rights were won through careful, incremental persuasion. Trans activism demanded radical, sweeping change overnight, without democratic consensus. Societies can be persuaded slowly. They resist being coerced rapidly.

Gay rights were grounded in observable biological reality: attraction to the same sex. Trans activism is grounded in internal self-perception, unverifiable by others. Material reality builds stable rights. Subjective feelings do not.

Gay rights succeeded because it sought freedom under law, not compelled belief. Trans activism failed because it demanded emotional obedience. Respect for reality matters. Respect for other people’s minds matters even more."

I'm not sure that there is any hard data that homosexuality is "biological", but other than that this thread makes some good points and demonstrates the divide between the LGB and the rest of the alphabet.

"I love this quote from Cardinal Robert Sarah...... Our world no longer hears God because it is constantly speaking, at a devastating speed and volume, in order to say nothing. Modern civilization does not know how to be quiet. It holds forth in an unending monologue. Postmodern society rejects the past and looks at the present as a cheap consumer object; it pictures the future in terms of an almost obsessive progress. Its dream, which has become a sad reality, will have been to lock silence away in a damp, dark dungeon. Thus there is a dictatorship of speech, a dictatorship of verbal emphasis. In this theater of shadows, nothing is left but a purulent wound of mechanical words, without perspective, without truth, and without foundation. Quite often “truth” is nothing more than the pure and misleading creation of the media, corroborated by fabricated images and testimonies. When that happens, the word of God fades away, inaccessible and inaudible. Postmodernity is an ongoing offense and aggression against the divine silence. From morning to evening, from evening to morning, silence no longer has any place at all; the noise tries to prevent God himself from speaking. In this hell of noise, man disintegrates and is lost; he is broken up into countless worries, fantasies, and fears. In order to get out of these depressing tunnels, he desperately awaits noise so that it will bring him a few consolations. Noise is a deceptive, addictive, and false tranquilizer. The tragedy of our world is never better summed up than in the fury of senseless noise that stubbornly hates silence. This age detests the things that silence brings us to: encounter, wonder, and kneeling before God. Even in the schools, silence has disappeared. And yet how can anyone study in the midst of noise? How can you read in noise? How can you train your intellect in noise? How can you structure your thought and the contours of your interior being in noise? How can you be open to the mystery of God, to spiritual values, and to our human greatness in continual turmoil? Contemplative silence is a fragile little flame in the middle of a raging ocean. The fire of silence is weak because it is bothersome to a busy world.”

"Very simple. The LGB community was simply demanding the same rights as everyone else, nothing more, nothing less. The TQ+ demands special privileges for a small group of entitled men. The LGB community was just asking society to accept them as themselves, the TQ+ demands we pretend they are something they are not The LGB community wasn't demanding the rest of society lie to ourselves about something as fundamental as the sex of our fellow humans, the TQ+ demands that we ignore the evidence of our eyes and ears. The LGB community just wanted to be left alone to live their lives, the TQ+ demands that we constantly praise and celebrate them and center them in our daily lives non stop. It is a fundamentally narcissistic movement. At the end of the day, the LGB movement was a righteous demand for true equality, while the TQ+ is a privileged demand for special status. That's the primary reason one failed and the other succeeded."

According to Grok, "Around 75–83% of deportations under Obama were nonjudicial, meaning they did not involve a hearing before an immigration judge." Serious questions: Why was this not considered an issue under Obama but it is under Trump? Is it purely political, or is the way Trump is going about deportations fundamentally different than Obama? Am I missing something? I'll live with whatever SCOTUS decides is (un)constitutional, but I'd really like to know the answers to my questions.

We know that Clinton and P-BO deported significantly more people than Trump, and we now know that P-BO denied "due process" to a large percentage of them.  Strangely enough, none of the folx bitching about Trump had a problem with P-BO.   It's literally the same as when they bitched about "kids in cages"  under Trump 1, but not about the exact same conditions under P-BO.

Judea and Samaria

 https://x.com/danburmawy/status/1914711821581173169?s=51&t=cLq01Oy84YkmYPZ-URIMYw

At first glance, the settlements in the West Bank seem indefensible. To the uninformed observer, they look like proof of Israeli aggression, evidence of occupation, expansionism, and disregard for international law. But that judgment only holds if you isolate the settlements from their historical, political, and existential context. Long before the world called it the "West Bank," it was known as Judea and Samaria. This was the land of ancient Israel, where Jewish kings ruled, where prophets spoke, where Jewish identity was formed. But historical ownership, while emotionally and spiritually powerful, is not how modern nations are governed. If every group laid claim to every land they once ruled, the entire world would erupt into chaos. Which is precisely why Israel, despite its undeniable historical connection to the West Bank, was willing to forgo its ancestral claim for the sake of peace. When the United Nations proposed the 1947 partition plan, Israel said yes. Even though the land offered was far less than what Jews had historically claimed, the Jewish leadership accepted it, because they valued peace and statehood over maximalist dreams. The Arab world, by contrast, said no. They didn’t just reject the plan, they launched a war to destroy Israel before it had even been born. As a result, from 1948 to 1967, the West Bank was illegally annexed by Jordan. No Palestinian state was created. No international outrage emerged over "occupation." Why? Because the goal was never a Palestinian state. The goal was, and for many still is, no Jewish state. Until 1967, Israel had no presence in the West Bank. It had no soldiers, no settlements, and no territorial ambition toward it. The West Bank was not occupied by Israel. And yet, there was still no peace. In 1967, Israel was surrounded once again by Arab armies openly vowing to wipe it off the map. Israel launched a defensive war and, in six days, took control of the Sinai, Gaza, the Golan Heights, and the West Bank. That control was not part of a Zionist conspiracy. It was a wartime necessity. Israel suddenly found itself holding territory that had been used against it, and among populations that had been taught to hate it. Which brings us to the heart of the issue. Yes, some religious Jews believe Judea and Samaria must be reclaimed. But that’s not what drives Israeli policy. The real reason the West Bank remains under Israeli control is this: security. The West Bank overlooks Israel’s heartland. A hostile force stationed there would have rocket range over Tel Aviv, Ben-Gurion Airport, and Jerusalem. The 9-mile-wide corridor that connects Israel’s coast to the rest of the country would become a death trap. And this is what makes the conflict so tragic: Israel has repeatedly shown that it is willing to risk even its own security for the hope of peace. In the 1990s, under the Oslo Accords, Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin offered massive territorial concessions to Yasser Arafat. He was ready to remove settlements, uproot Jewish families, and hand over large parts of the West Bank. That decision nearly tore Israel apart internally, and cost Rabin his life. Still, Israel tried again. In 2000 at Camp David, and in 2008 under Ehud Olmert, Israel offered even more, almost the entire West Bank, land swaps, and a shared Jerusalem. The Palestinian leadership said no. Again. In every case, Israel showed it was willing to compromise, even at the risk of empowering hostile forces. And every time, it was met with rejection and violence. Suicide bombings. Intifadas. Rocket fire. So No. The Settlements Aren’t the Root of the Problem They’re the result of a broken peace process, a hostile region, and an unresolved security dilemma. If the Arab world had accepted partition in 1947, there would be no settlements today. If the Palestinians had said yes in 2000 or 2008, there would be a Palestinian state. If terror hadn’t followed every Israeli withdrawal, Israel might have withdrawn again. But peace was never the real goal for Israel’s enemies. And that’s what makes the settlements understandable, if not ideal. So before you condemn Israel, understand this: Israel had the history. It gave it up. Israel had the moral high ground. It compromised. Israel had no desire for occupation. It was forced into it. The settlements are not the disease. They are a symptom, of a region where one side wants peace, and the other side wants the other erased.

" Contrary to the Senator's statement, Israel is acting in full accordance with international law. The humanitarian condition in Gaza is constantly monitored and large quantities of aid were delivered. Whenever it becomes necessary to allow additional aid, it must be ensured that it does not pass through Hamas, which exploits humanitarian aid to maintain control over the civilian population and to profit at their expense—profits that fund and sustain terror infrastructure used to target IDF soldiers and Israeli civilians. We urge the international community and relevant actors, to guarantee that future aid bypasses Hamas and is delivered directly and securely to the population. It is unfortunate that the honorable Senator has learned nothing from the lessons of October 7 and the atrocities committed by Hamas against Israeli citizens and the Jewish people. A terrorist organization that openly calls for the annihilation of the State of Israel and the Jewish people—and which brutally murdered the Bibas children even during captivity, simply because they were Jewish—must never be allowed to rule Gaza or endanger Israel and the free world again. It is the responsibility of Israel’s leadership and of the Israeli people to ensure such horrors are never repeated—and that is exactly what we are doing. We are grateful to our great friend, the United States, for standing by Israel, understanding the reality on the ground, and supporting our right to self-defense in the face of the hypocrisy of some international bodies."

As we've seen ample evidence of Hamas "stealing" aid shipments for themselves or for resale at a high mark up, it seems both reasonable and critical that any aid going into Gaza actually go to the people, not to Hamas,  This, of course, should remove UNRWA from the process entirely.

He'll be Very Unpopeular, updated

I'll repeat, I'm not RC, I don't agree with the theology of the RCC, and I have no dog in this fight.   However, this conclave is going to provoke a couple of reactions.

1.  The political and theological left are going to  engage in a campaign against Sarah or anyone like him, despite the fact that he's be the first black pope.  The racism (their definition) is going to be in full swing, as is the Euro centrism.

2.   The RCC probably needs a pope that will counter the leftward drift of the last pope or two and the reality is that someone like that will almost have to come from Africa.

Regardless of theological differences, I believe that a RCC that goes back in the direction of it's roots, and fidelity to scripture, is better than what we have currently.

"Pope Benedict XVI said the following words about Cardinal Sarah: “I cannot remain silent! The celibacy of the priest is of great significance. Cardinal Sarah is a man of silence and interior life. He is a spiritual man, a bishop who speaks with God, and therefore who can also speak well of God. His closeness to God allows him to understand the crisis of the Church and to call it by name. I am united with him in this testimony.”"

"Born in a small village in Guinea and forged in the fires of Marxist persecution, Cardinal Robert Sarah rose from the margins of Africa to the heart of Rome.

“Islamism is a monstrous fanaticism that must be fought with force and determination. It will not stop its war.” (Response to Nice terror attack, 2020)

“It is a false exegesis to use the Word of God to promote migration. God never wanted these rifts.” (Le Figaro, 2019)

"Meet Cardinal Robert Sarah, who’s in the running to be the next Pontiff. He’s conservative, pro-life, anti-woke, and has compared Western woke liberal cultural trends to communism and Nazism. Cardinal Robert Sarah is a Guinean Catholic prelate known for his influential roles in the Vatican and his conservative stance on Church teachings. Born on June 15, 1945, in Ourous, Guinea, to a family of animist converts to Christianity, Sarah was inspired by missionary priests and entered the Saint Augustine Minor Seminary in Bingerville, Ivory Coast, at age 12. He was ordained a priest on July 20, 1969, in Conakry, Guinea, and later earned licentiates in theology from the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome and in Scripture from the Studium Biblicum Franciscanum in Jerusalem. At 34, Sarah was appointed Archbishop of Conakry in 1979 by Pope John Paul II, becoming one of the world’s youngest bishops. He served during the oppressive regime of Ahmed Sékou Touré, resisting Marxist policies and maintaining the Church’s independence, earning widespread respect in Guinea. In 2001, he was named secretary of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples, serving nearly a decade. In 2010, Pope Benedict XVI appointed him president of the Pontifical Council Cor Unum and elevated him to cardinal. From 2014 to 2021, Sarah served as prefect of the Congregation for Divine Worship and the Discipline of the Sacraments under Pope Francis, retiring at age 75. A vocal advocate for traditional Catholic teachings, Sarah has emphasized sexual morality, the right to life, and liturgical reverence, often promoting practices like ad orientem worship. He has criticized Western cultural trends, including gender ideology, abortion, and same-sex marriage, comparing their impact to historical ideologies like Nazism and communism. He has also denounced Islamist radicalism, particularly ISIS, for its threats to family structures. His 2023 “Dubia” to Pope Francis, alongside four other cardinals, sought clarity on doctrinal issues like same-sex blessings and women’s ordination, reflecting his orthodox concerns."

"The Selective Amnesia of the Left: Why Islamic Colonialism Is Ignored From the 7th century onward, the Islamic Caliphates spread through relentless military conquests stretching from the Arabian Peninsula to North Africa, Persia, the Levant, the Indian subcontinent, Central Asia, and parts of Europe. The expansion of Islam was political, legal, and cultural imperialism enforced by the sword. The doctrine of jihad explicitly legitimized the conquest of non-Muslim lands, the enslavement of non-believers, and the imposition of dhimmitude, a state of second-class citizenship for Jews and Christians, and total persecution for polytheists. Over 300 million people are estimated to have died directly or indirectly as a result of Islamic conquests, slavery, and institutionalized persecution over 14 centuries. This includes the Hindu genocide in India, where historians like K.S. Lal estimate 80 million Hindus were killed; the decimation of Zoroastrianism in Persia; the obliteration of ancient African tribal cultures in the Sahel; and the destruction of the Byzantine Christian civilization across the Eastern Mediterranean. Islamic imperialism did not merely conquer lands, it Arabized them. Persian, Berber, Coptic, Syriac, Aramaic, and countless African languages and cultures were either marginalized or erased. The Arab identity became the default face of Islam, even in non-Arab lands. Cities like Alexandria, Carthage, and Damascus, once bastions of classical thought and Christian theology, were transformed into outposts of Islamic rule, their libraries burned, their churches converted, and their populations forcibly converted or reduced to servitude. And yet, when the modern left speaks of cultural appropriation, linguistic erasure, or settler violence, these episodes never appear in their moral inventory. The only colonialism that matters, it seems, is that which emerged from Europe. Why is this massive, centuries-long imperial project not only ignored but actively whitewashed by the progressive intelligentsia? Three reasons: 1.Victimhood Hierarchy: In the left’s worldview, Muslims occupy the role of “oppressed minority,” especially in the West. Criticizing Islam, even when grounded in historical fact, risks disrupting this victimhood narrative and is swiftly branded as “Islamophobic.” 2.Postmodernism and Cultural Relativism: The academic left, steeped in Foucault and Said, often refuses to judge non-Western cultures by universal standards. Thus, Islamic slavery, misogyny, or religious violence is excused as “contextual,” while similar Western practices are condemned as unforgivable. 3.Political Expediency: Islam, despite its imperialist core, is increasingly seen as a geopolitical ally against Western conservatism, capitalism, and Zionism. Therefore, its historical crimes are either downplayed or completely omitted. It is incoherent to denounce European colonialism while ignoring Islamic colonialism. If moral consistency is the standard, then Islamic empires, from the Rashidun and Umayyads to the Ottomans, must be held accountable for their conquests, forced conversions, enslavement, and genocides. The left’s moral outrage is not rooted in historical justice, but ideological selectivity. By refusing to acknowledge Islamic colonialism, they betray their own stated principles and reduce the idea of decolonization to a weapon, not a value."

Either colonialism/conquest is always bad, or it's not.   That the left ignores Islamic conquest, colonialism, and slavery, in favor of a narrative where these vices are only perpetrated by white Europeans, is disappointing, but not surprising.   I posted on this elsewhere that the left looks at Muslim countries and sees vast numbers of people in shitty living conditions and immidiately categorizes them as "oppressed" without regard to the actual history.

Arabs launched war. 3. 2000 Camp David: Israel offered the Palestinians 94-96% of the West Bank and all of Gaza. Arafat walked. 4. 2001 Taba Talks: Israel agreed to negotiate. Palestinians refused to answer. No deal. 5. 2008 Olmert Plan: 93% of West Bank. Abbas never responded. 6. 2014 Kerry Talks: Israel joined and offered 93% of the West Bank, all of Gaza, land swaps, division of Jerusalem, and return of some refugees. Palestinians refused. 6 chances. 6 rejections. There could have been a two state solution in the year 2000. The evidence seems indicate that the Palestinian side has never wanted a two state solution. They just want the mass genocide of every Jew so that they could conquer from the river to the sea."

" From 2005 to 2023, more Israelis were murdered by terrorists from the West Bank than from Gaza. The West Bank produced a deadlier toll through shootings, stabbings, car rammings, and coordinated terror attacks. Yet in nearly two decades of bloodshed, Israel has never responded to the West Bank with airstrikes. Why? Because there were no missiles. No barrages of rockets targeting Israeli cities. No sirens sending children to bomb shelters in Tel Aviv or Ashkelon. Now contrast that with Gaza, a strip ruled by a death cult, firing rockets from hospitals, mosques, and residential buildings. Since 2005, tens of thousands of rockets have been fired from Gaza into Israeli towns. If Israel were truly the aggressor, it would have carpet-bombed Jenin and Nablus years ago. Instead, it sends ground forces, door-to-door, risking the lives of its soldiers to avoid civilian casualties. No rockets from the West Bank meant no airstrikes. Simple. But when Gaza launches missiles, Israel strikes launchers. When Gaza builds terror tunnels, Israel targets the engineering teams. When Hamas uses apartment buildings as rocket depots, Israel surgically neutralizes them, after warnings. Here’s the raw truth: Israel doesn’t strike first, it strikes back, and only when forced to."

Conclave!!!!! Watch for the Smoke!!

Not that I have any say in the matter, but given Pope Francis tendency toward appeasement, maybe they should pick a pope made of sterner stuff this time.

I'd be happy to see Cardinal Robert Sarah be selected.

While I'm not RC, and while I have plenty of theological differences with the RCC, I believe that having a pope who'll push the RCC away from accommodating liberal social trends and appeasing Islam, is a good thing.   Whether or not I like it, the office of the pope does carry weight and have influence on many issues where conservative protestants share common cause.    Given that, it seems appropriate to "support/hope" for a pope that is less beholden to liberal  political causes.

My problem is that I sat through Conclave and now have little hope that the next pope won't be gay or "trans".

FWIW, Conclave was a beautifully filmed movie.  Unfortunately the picture it painted of the College of Cardinals and of the process, not to mention the outcome, was less than flattering.

" Frantz Fanon, a radical theorist of anti-colonial struggle, framed the world as a binary struggle between the oppressed and their colonial oppressors. Today, the radical left apply Fanon’s lens to the Arab-Israeli conflict. In this framing, Israel is cast as the colonial settler state, and the Palestinians as the oppressed indigenous people fighting for liberation. Zionism is equated with white European domination, and Palestinian violence is romanticized as resistance, justified under Fanon’s banner of reclaiming dignity by any means necessary. But this framework is built on a false premise. The Arab-Israeli conflict is not rooted in classic colonialism. It is not about race, and not about European conquest of foreign peoples for resources or dominance. Islamic theology has viewed Jews as religious subordinates for centuries. Long before 1948, long before the founding of Israel, Jewish communities were subject to jizya, dhimmi laws, forced conversions, pogroms, and second-class status under Islamic rule. The hatred did not begin with borders, it began with theology. The war is not over 1967. It’s over 622, the year Muhammad began his campaign, which included erasing Jewish tribes in Arabia. The language used by groups like Hamas and Hezbollah is not the language of civil rights; it is the language of jihad, martyrdom, and divine vengeance. Their charter does not read like Fanon, it reads like Ibn Taymiyyah. To apply Fanon’s model here is dangerous because it obscures the true nature of the threat and reframes a religious war as a liberation struggle, giving jihadists a moral cover they have not earned. It turns religious supremacism into victimhood, and makes the only liberal democracy in the Middle East look like apartheid South Africa. This distortion is not accidental. It serves a purpose: to fracture the West’s moral clarity, to turn its children against its allies, and to redefine good and evil along ideological lines rather than objective truths."

This is a pretty good analysis of the situation.  The left's insistence that every thing be jammed into the oppressor/oppressed binary is annoying as all get out.

" What do you want me to do? When Jews were being slaughtered in Europe and Russia, I didn’t invade anyone. I went home. I bought land, legally. The region had no sovereign state at the time, only centuries of occupation under foreign empires. I drained swamps, built cities, created infrastructure, and that success attracted migrants, from Egypt, from the Levant, from the Arabian Peninsula, who came seeking opportunity in the land I was reviving. When the occupation collapsed, everyone in the region got a state. The Maronites in the north got Lebanon. The Hashemites got Jordan. Iraq was born. Syria too. So yes, I asked for one state. Just one. And I was told no. I still agreed to share the land, even though I was offered the worst half, mostly desert. They still said no. Then came 1948. Five Arab armies invaded to wipe us out. I fought. I survived. I won. Then I offered peace again. But they answered with the Three No’s of Khartoum: No peace. No recognition. No negotiations. They tried again in 1967 to destroy me. I survived again. I captured more land, not out of ambition, but necessity. But when peace was possible, I gave land back. I returned Sinai to Egypt. I withdrew from Southern Lebanon. I offered to withdraw from Gaza and the West Bank. I offered them everything they asked for in 2000. They walked away. In 2005, I unilaterally withdrew from Gaza. In return I got rockets, terror tunnels, kidnapped civilians. Then came October 7, the worst massacre of Jews since the Holocaust. Civilians slaughtered. Babies burned. Women raped. So again I ask: What do you want me to do? Because “Never Again” means never again. You don’t get to massacre my people and then cry about the consequences. You don’t get to raise your children to hate and then blame me when war comes. You don’t get to reject every peace offer, every two-state solution, and then ask the world to pretend none of that happened. But I will not apologize for surviving. I will not apologize for fighting back. Never Again means Never Again."

To the Dan's of the world, "Never again." means "Turn the other cheek." and meekly walk to the gas chambers, the scimitar, or whatever fate awaits them.

 https://x.com/danburmawy/status/1913054676192240050?s=51&t=cLq01Oy84YkmYPZ-URIMYw

" For years, I stood in prayer as the imam would recite: “O Allah, destroy the Jews and the Christians. O Allah, shake the ground beneath their feet. Make their wives widows. Make their children orphans. Grant victory to the mujahideen in Palestine, Afghanistan, Somalia, and Chechnya.” I had no idea what was happening in Palestine or Chechnya. I couldn’t have explained the history of Afghanistan or Somalia. What I knew was simple: they were Muslims, and the other side were infidels. That was enough for me to say "Amen". Now I watch Western activists, many of them with zero knowledge of Islamic theology or the history of the region, marching under banners of “resistance,” chanting slogans that frame Hamas as victims and Israel as colonial oppressors. Do they know what Hamas believes? Do they know what it means when jihad is invoked as worship? They’ve been fed a curated history that begins in 1948 and leaves out everything inconvenient, like Israel’s repeated peace offers. This ignorance isn’t neutral. It allows them to project their own framework, of race, power, and Western guilt, onto a conflict they don’t understand."

Again, the Dan's of the world choose to "misunderstand" this aspect of Islam and how prevalent it is and how much it's growing in the West, to cling to a fantasy.

The fact that American leftists can ignore the fact that the people they support are engaged in this sort of negotiation and blame Israel for everything is disgusting.   I can't imagine how they'd react if one of their children was held hostage by terrorist scum.    Even mo-net that they'd either become raving maniacs and demand the complete destruction of Hamas or they'd  simply write off their child as a "cost of doing business" because Hamas needs hostages to stop the oppression.   I'd hate to have one of these Dan Types for a parent.

The ability to shoot video so easily is such a huge step forward in allowing information to be disseminated without the biases of the MSM.   The video doesn't need analysis or spin, it speaks for itself.

This is the second story in a few weeks about how P-BO era subsidies for "green" projects were mostly wasted.   Except for one company, that paid everything back early with interest.

I've said this before, but it's worth repeating, body cams are the best thing the left has ever done.  They've demonstrated that their narrative about cops was pretty much bullshit.   Also they've provided evidence against the few bad cops that do exist.

 https://apnews.com/article/pennsylvania-governor-mansion-fire-motive-cody-balmer-734827f6c29d7b3064af442e729d10d7

 https://abcnews.go.com/US/alleged-arsonist-targeted-pennsylvania-gov-josh-shapiro-palestine/story?id=120860365

"The suspected arsonist who allegedly tried to kill Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro decided to firebomb his official residence because of "what he wants to do to the Palestinian people," according to a search warrant signed by Pennsylvania State Police.

Balmer, 38, targeted Shapiro "based upon perceived injustices to the people of Palestine," one of the warrants said."

Because burning Jews in the US is going to help Hamas.

It's strange how many people are up in arms about due process for immigrants who chose not to follow the due process to immigrate into the US.

Left Wing Scandal

Kieth Ellison, Secretary of State, who previously held a post in the DNC and engaged in physical abuse of his partner, was caught on video lying his ass off about investigating the largest COVID related fraud in the US.

What is it about places like urban Minnesota that seem to draw this sort of corruption, violence, and the like?

Right/Wrong

If I state unequivocally that (B)Art (for example) is wrong on a particular topic does that statement imply (at a minimum) two things.

 1.  That there is a definitive right and wrong as regards that particular subject.

2.  That I am in possession of the definitive right as regards that particular subject, which therefore allows me to state definitively that (B)Art's (for example) position is wrong.

Note:  When the Secret Service trains it's people to spot counterfeits, they don't spend time studying the fake money, they study the real thing to the point where they can spot a fake reliably.  Therefore, it is absolutely necessary to have the definitive right, in order to define the wrong.

I use (B)Art for my example because the chances that he'll get mad or offended is slim.

Stunning

I've been doing some stuff for International Guitar Month on social media, and Phil Keaggy was one of the people I featured.   I used a different video for that post, and until I came across this I'd forgotten that about what a great example of his skill this song is.

New Music Monday

Occasionally I'll post about various topics related to music.  but I don't think I've posted about a specific artist before.   Last Friday I learned that one of my current favorite musicians, Tyler Bryant, had produced a record for another musician named Frankie Ballard, so I thought I'd check it out.  What I found was an album with song titles that sounded like they were written from a Christian perspective.  As an aside, I know there are a few country artists that dabble in Christian sounding songs or write with a vernacular that makes them sound like they've spent some time around The Church.   Tyler Childers comes to mind.  But these titles sounded a little more "sincere" to me.  So I find out that Ballard has had a significant experience around his faith and seems to have become a Christian.   This latest record is the music the came out of his experience.   I haven't listened to it all, but what I've heard I like.  If you're looking for something new, and country adjacent, check out The Messenger.

Morons

As I was leaving the house this morning the Today Show ran a story on Real ID, and the rush of people to get one before the deadline.  They interviewed a number of people who's comments boiled down to "I didn't think they were really going to stick to the deadline this time.".   To which I say, "That's you fault, isn't it?".

We've known that this was coming for years, (hell I tried to get one during COVID and couldn't get a slot, so I gave up and renewed online), and anyone who's waited has done so at their own peril.  That the MSM is stoking this idiocy continues to make them look like part of the problem,  not part of the solution.

I keep hearing that women are too stupid, lazy, or incapable of getting a copy of their birth certificate and/or marriage license  that they'd need for Real ID.   I don't believe this is True in the least.  My wife managed to gather everything needed to get hers done all by herself.   I don't think it's beyond the ability of the vast majority of women to accomplish this relatively simple task.

Finally, people ignore the fact that it's not needed.

1.  If you have a passport, you don't need Real ID.   Conversely, if you have a passport, you've gotten the information needed for Real ID.

2.  Air travel is but one alternative for travel.   Drive, take a train, or stay home.

3.  So much of the required documents needed for Real ID are already needed for other things anyway.

Finally, the report mentioned that some international body is going to mandate/provide the ability to have all of this information on one's phone.    Which seems like quite the boon to those engaged in identity theft.   A one stop shop for stealing someone's ID.

God Save the King

 https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2024/12/05/rotherham-rapist-to-be-released-from-prison-early/

"A member of a Rotherham grooming gang who raped and tortured his victims is set to be released from prison after serving only nine years of a 19-year sentence.

Banaras Hussain, 44, who is also a convicted drug dealer, will be allowed out on licence on Friday after being jailed for violent sexual offences in 2016.

He was sentenced after admitting 10 charges including rape, indecent assault and actual bodily harm.

Hussain abused his victims, some of whom were as young as 11, over more than a decade and was one of six members of a grooming gang jailed for a total of 103 years. "

The Rotherham Rape Rings is one of the biggest indictments of both Islam and the political left of recent years.   That the UK justice system ignored this animal forcing a child to give him oral sex in public, and e subsequent light sentences, and now grants him early release, is an indication of the ongoing fall of the UK.   The fact is that the UK is actively pursuing a two tiered sentencing system that favors Muslims, and that the government allows Muslims to behave in ways that they allow from no other demographic group.  Simply because they fear riots if they enforce the laws of the UK appropriately.

It's also an indictment of Islam.  That there is not a peep from "moderate Muslims" about this ongoing rape gang strongly suggests that here really is no "moderate" wing of Islam.   That Pakistani culture embraces the rape of children and cousin marriage, which they've graciously brought to the UK, with nary a word from "moderate" Muslims, is again and indictment of Islam.  That Islamic clerics (videos elsewhere) encourage and justify these behaviors simply reinforces the impression that their view of "Kaffirs" as being less than human is accurate.

All in all, I can't understand why anyone would travel to the UK at this point.

Full Circle?

If a significant part of one's gospel, is "anti-legalism", and one constantly refers to "legalism" as one of the primary evils of others, the isn't there a point where "anti-legalism" simply becomes "legalism" of a different stripe?

This is so spot on.

On a somewhat related note, an acquaintance learned from the pediatrician that cell phones are bad for teenagers.  That what kids use cell phones for drives increased rates of depression and anxiety for starters. This genius then wonders if restricting their daughter's phone use will help her anxiety/depression meds work better.

The more I think about it, smart phones, game consoles, wifi and COVID are going to end up being demonstrated to have had an incredibly negative effect on at least one generation of children, maybe two.

Taxpayer Funded Greed, or Starving MN

 https://www.startribune.com/second-harvest-heartland-ceo-steps-down/601323816

For some reason a food bank in MN, which receives state and federal funds,  though it was appropriate to pay their CEO over $700,000/year.   Think of how many hungry families this greedy CEO's salary could have fed.   Think of how many more lower level employees could have been hired or how much more existing employees could have been paid.  For all of the bitching the left does about CEOs in the for profit sector get paid, they're strangely silent about those in the nonprofit/government funded sector.

FYI, a past president of Twin Cities Habitat, who earned low 6 figures, managed to score a second (simultaneous) full time gig as the CEO of the Metropolitan Council.   I guess being a part of the leadership of non profit organizations is a pretty good gig if you can get one.

There is clearly something in the water up here that leads some people to be convinced that they can make huge money by "feeding the hungry".

 https://x.com/charlieshrem/status/1907785903877087578?s=51&t=cLq01Oy84YkmYPZ-URIMYw

"Tariffs are not the story! Since Trump took office in Jan 2025, the 10-year yield has dropped from 4.79% to 4.17%. Look how much it’s dropped today! That 0.62% drop may not sound like much—until you realize the U.S. has $36.5 trillion in debt. This is stealth refinancing on a historic scale. Lower yields = trillions in interest savings. More breathing room. Less inflationary pressure. And the market is front-running it. Everyone’s watching tariffs. But this yield curve shift? It’s the real game. Trump isn’t just cutting spending— he’s restructuring America’s balance sheet in real time."

I'll try to post more from the first thread, which goes into more detail, but not only will these yield drops help the lower the debt, especially the debt that needs to be refinanced this year, but it'll continue to push mortgage rates lower. Lower mortgage rates will very likely result in a significant increase in home sales for a multitude of reasons. Like it or not, an increase in home sales is a good thing for the economy.
