Morons

As I was leaving the house this morning the Today Show ran a story on Real ID, and the rush of people to get one before the deadline.  They interviewed a number of people who's comments boiled down to "I didn't think they were really going to stick to the deadline this time.".   To which I say, "That's you fault, isn't it?".

We've known that this was coming for years, (hell I tried to get one during COVID and couldn't get a slot, so I gave up and renewed online), and anyone who's waited has done so at their own peril.  That the MSM is stoking this idiocy continues to make them look like part of the problem,  not part of the solution.

I keep hearing that women are too stupid, lazy, or incapable of getting a copy of their birth certificate and/or marriage license  that they'd need for Real ID.   I don't believe this is True in the least.  My wife managed to gather everything needed to get hers done all by herself.   I don't think it's beyond the ability of the vast majority of women to accomplish this relatively simple task.

Finally, people ignore the fact that it's not needed.

1.  If you have a passport, you don't need Real ID.   Conversely, if you have a passport, you've gotten the information needed for Real ID.

2.  Air travel is but one alternative for travel.   Drive, take a train, or stay home.

3.  So much of the required documents needed for Real ID are already needed for other things anyway.

Finally, the report mentioned that some international body is going to mandate/provide the ability to have all of this information on one's phone.    Which seems like quite the boon to those engaged in identity theft.   A one stop shop for stealing someone's ID.

So, let them eat cake? Good call. This has long been the response of privileged class oppressors to the poor and marginalized. At least you're consistent.

Well, since I didn't say anything of the sort, I guess I don't have to waste much time responding.

This notion that the "poor and marginalized" are incapable of obtaining things like birth certificates, utility bills and the like certainly doesn't speak will for them.

Strangely enough, the "poor and oppressed" somehow manage to find the ID needed to do things like; get welfare, get Section 8, get prescriptions, get bank accounts, and all of the myriad of things that require ID.

Also a man-on-the-street interview proved that The View lied when they said blacks would be unable to get it. All the blacks interviewed stated they had no problem and everyone they knew had no problem getting the ID. Racists and those who hate women LIE and say woman and black are too stupid to get the ID! Dan is just like the rest of the women-haters and racists.

It's really not that hard to do, even if folx like Dan want to pretend that the "oppressed" are incapable of following this particular law, Despite literally years of knowing it was going to come, and the reality that it's only about flying so they just need to avail themselves of other options if they choose not to get it.

No one oppresses the poor and the marginalized as do the "progressives"/fake Christians who posture as their champions while supporting the political party which produces the poor and marginalized.

I don't know that they "oppose" the poor/marginalized so much as they treat them as if they are incapable of doing the things necessary to function in society.

For the tiny fraction of people who don't have a DL or state ID, they act as if procuring a free or minimal cost ID is such an insurmountable burden. I can only speak for myself, but if I knew someone who didn't have an appropriate ID, I'd help them get one. Wouldn't it be easier to help people get an ID that to whine about an ID being required?

That the left ignores the fact that ID is required for so many things that the "poor/oppressed" access regularly, and pretends that using that ID to vote is just too much to ask.

The MSM scare tactics and hype around something that really isn't that hard, along with leftists like Dan making this seem like oppression, are laughable.

Strangely enough, this has been the law since 2005. I could be wrong, but if you can't get this done in 20 years, it's your problem.

8 years of P-BO, 4 years of Biden and they did nothing to eliminate the implementation of this law.

If every policy works to the detriment of the people, particularly "the poor and marginalized", as is so routine with Dan's party, I'd say that constitutes opposing them. Then to treat them as buffoons incapable of simple tasks suggests it as well. But anyway....

The whole ID issue is just another leftist absurdity with the intent of leaving open the ability of those who shouldn't be casting ballots more ease to do so.

I see your point. I'd suggest that it's less about opposing them and more about manipulating them for political gain.

Yes, the double standard on ID is absurd. ID is required for so many things the DFL loves that it makes no sense to assume that adding one more thing to the list is some huge burden.

They certainly ain't helpin' 'em, are they?

Craig said...

No they aren't. They're helping themselves much more than they're helping the black voters who keep them in office. However, I'm not sure that manipulating voters for political gain is actually opposing them.
