I would argue that foiling some left wing folx planning a violent action, should still be counted as left wing violence.

Nahhhhhhhhh, there's no problem with left wing violence, and certainly no problem with left wing leaders encouraging or saying things that might encouraging violence.

Reading some of the comments which followed that to which you linked shows the leftist comments just doing what they do...playing the "both sides do it" game and trying to find examples they can exploit to support it. Too many just roll with the narrative. I applaud the lefty who actually goes more deeply into the issues for the sake of knowing the truth.
I'm in an ongoing debate on FB with a few homosexuals/lesbians, and I get the same from them as from Dan, as regards the truths and facts I present being no more than my opinion, with no countervailing facts to back up the assertion. I just said to one of them that I'm married to no position I hold from which a compelling, fact-supported counter argument can't divorce me. If there's anyone more open to such a possibility, it's me. Bring the receipts!
The "both sides" argument and the "The other guys do..." are all they have. They claim to be against "violence", yet regularly engage in violence (likewise with "hate speech") and they need an excuse to mitigate the cognitive dissonance. When your whole movement accepts the notion of "Your truth"/"multiple truths", then you lose the ability to base your positions on facts. Dan regularly bitches about people that "lie", while simultaneously asserting that there is no singular Truth, (that multiple truths exist). He regularly bitches about "the experts", but treats experts that don't buy whatever narrative he's selling as if they're just expressing opinions. This is what happens when you trade a worldview with objective/universal Truth and morals, for a worldview where both of those things are determined by the perception of "consensus" or majority rule.
