Compare and contrast. Also, never forget that the same types of people who mocked and disparaged "thoughts and prayers" after the Annunciation shooting, are the ones who've been stoking the fires of hatred for years.
I can only hope that Kirk's death stokes a few (metaphorical) fires in society. Both social and political.

This contrast has been mentioned quite a bit and I had intended to bring it up as well. While I hear hints of reciprocal violence, it's rather tempered, almost as if a few folks on the right want to get it on, but don't feel comfortable coming out and saying it.
I took on a dude in the comments section of an American Thinker article...a place where I read these "hints" more often than makes me comfortable. He expressed it as something patriots should be considering. I told him his suggestion wasn't patriotic at all. It's one thing to take these cases...be it Kirk or any other criminal incident...and increase one's situational awareness, maybe start packing, and otherwise "stay frosty". Somehow, he took that as a cowardly approach.
But if we were to seek revenge, upon whom would we take it specifically? Lefty politicians? Lefty pundits or professors? Just random people we hope are lefties? How would this all work? If we're prepared...and let's face it, we live in a fallen world which hasn't been getting better...that's really about all we can do.
Thus, as a more prepared person, if I'm where the next asshole intends to do harm, perhaps I can do something to prevent it. In the meantime, I will continue to vote for the most conservative, rule of law candidates possible, speak out against the stupidity of voting Democrat and promote real Christian values, either overtly or covertly.
It's gonna happen again. We can't stop it. We can only mitigate it. Another Charlie Kirk. Another Iryna Zarutska. Another Evergreen High School. Another Brian Thompson. We need more Daniel Pennys
While I'm not doubting that there might be some reciprocal violence on the right, the vast majority over the last week has been from the left. Much of that is based on second/third hand misrepresentations of things Kirk actually said, but not taken out of context. Note Steven King's apology for believing bullshit, also Emanuel Acho's removal of his idiotic response..
If "revenge" is going to be taken, it should start with sharing the gospel, move to the ballot box, and then to the media. Win souls, and elections, while boycotting the MSM. Work on sharing Truth as Kirk did, be open to dialogue and respectful disagreement. Treat those who disagree as though they are the image of YHWH.
As far as physical harm goes, it should only be used to protect and prevent a worse harm.
I get that there might, someday, be grounds for some sort of "civil war". But we're not even close to that now and anyone suggesting otherwise is wrong.
Kirk's raision d'etre was to prevent "civil war" through respectful dialogue. How about just doing that? At least until those we dialogue with demonstrate an unwillingness to do the same.
I think, sadly, there are too many people who believe the time for talk has come and gone...that the left will not be persuaded to reject their lies for truth...that they even know what truth is and thus will fight against it as if they are noble, honorable and courageous for doing so. It's a tough position against which to argue given all we've seen over the past ten to fifteen years.
But like you, I believe in resisting such violent urges while preparing for that which arises around us. And to see how many on the left have been celebrating and hoping to see more dead conservatives, we can't pretend such has yet reached its peak until we can see even more of their own push back against their own who are most guilty of such evil.
That may be the case, yet I see the gatherings to mourn/celebrate Kirk a possible antidote to that. Part of the problem is that the language of violence has become part of our political discourse in metaphorical ways. It isn't unusual to hear someone speak of "destroying" a candidacy or policy, while not meaning to destroy the person. I think that makes this more difficult, but not impossible.
The loss of Truth over the last few decades is a big part of why we are where we are. When someone gets killed for speaking Truth, it's a sign of big problems.
It's fascinating that the left regularly resorts to violence and destruction (CHAZ/CHOP, Ferguson, The Summer of Love, etc) while the right rarely does. Certainly not on a mass scale, or with the level of justification for this violence. Very few, if any, on the right condoned or excused the "excesses" on J6. I think most of us agreed with the point they were making (or their right to make that point via peaceful protest), while disagreeing with some of their actions. Certainly no one was promising more J6 type events is they didn't get what they wanted. At this point in time, it seems much more likely that we'll see a massive, violent, response from the left than from the right.
