The left is eager for right-wing violence. They crave it. The anomaly of Jan 6, '21 (hell...it was an anomaly of the rally itself, given it began while the vast majority of Trump supporters were still a good distance away listening to his still ongoing speech. It was truly a "mostly peaceful" gathering until agents provocateurs incited the people at yhe Capitol) was a late Christmas gift to them, as it validated their myth of right-wing danger ever-loomong in out nation. The reality is more a matter of right-wingers fearing an escalation but standing ready to deal with it. Going back to the Tea Partiers, there's never been an outburst of violent behavior from within right-wing gatherings, rallies or protests. But by comparison, it's absolutely routine from the left

Yes, the left does need the specter of rampant "right wing extremist" violence as a way to (among other things) excuse or justify the left wing rampages of 2020 and others. The reality is that most of the truly "right wing extremist" types are more likely to be holed up in the woods in Idaho than engaging in violent protests. As long as these "right wing extremists" stay in their compounds in the woods and remain peaceful, then who cares that they exist. They aren't harming anyone. Honestly, the only reason we ever hear about these folks is when the feds decide to go after them for a minor transgression and escalate the situation.

Obviously the contrast between the Tea Party protests and any of the left wing protests/riots is significant. Hell, they left their protest sites clean unlike the Occupy folx. Vivek had a freat quote about J6, and I think he's probably right. You had a relatively small group of people who's complaints were not being taken seriously, combined with some federal plants, and a few people got out of control and more got swept up in the moment. I honestly think that the 2020 Floyd riots had some similar components. There were a lot of people who literally just wanted to protest, but got caught up in the riots and went along with the crowd. Obviously, they didn't have federal LE plants.

Interestingly, we don't hear "voice of the unheard" with regard to Jan 6 protesters, who were definitely as ignored as the black protestors MLK was referencing. And of course, unlike the Floyd protesters, the concerns of the Jan 6 rally-goers and Capitol protesters were legit and worthy of recognition and investigation. The Floyd people were just exploiting the self-inflicted death of a punk to pretend racist cops are a thing.
