I'll repeat, I'm not RC, I don't agree with the theology of the RCC, and I have no dog in this fight. However, this conclave is going to provoke a couple of reactions.
1. The political and theological left are going to engage in a campaign against Sarah or anyone like him, despite the fact that he's be the first black pope. The racism (their definition) is going to be in full swing, as is the Euro centrism.
2. The RCC probably needs a pope that will counter the leftward drift of the last pope or two and the reality is that someone like that will almost have to come from Africa.
Regardless of theological differences, I believe that a RCC that goes back in the direction of it's roots, and fidelity to scripture, is better than what we have currently.
"Pope Benedict XVI said the following words about Cardinal Sarah: “I cannot remain silent! The celibacy of the priest is of great significance. Cardinal Sarah is a man of silence and interior life. He is a spiritual man, a bishop who speaks with God, and therefore who can also speak well of God. His closeness to God allows him to understand the crisis of the Church and to call it by name. I am united with him in this testimony.”"
"Born in a small village in Guinea and forged in the fires of Marxist persecution, Cardinal Robert Sarah rose from the margins of Africa to the heart of Rome.
“Islamism is a monstrous fanaticism that must be fought with force and determination. It will not stop its war.” (Response to Nice terror attack, 2020)
“It is a false exegesis to use the Word of God to promote migration. God never wanted these rifts.” (Le Figaro, 2019)

"Meet Cardinal Robert Sarah, who’s in the running to be the next Pontiff. He’s conservative, pro-life, anti-woke, and has compared Western woke liberal cultural trends to communism and Nazism. Cardinal Robert Sarah is a Guinean Catholic prelate known for his influential roles in the Vatican and his conservative stance on Church teachings. Born on June 15, 1945, in Ourous, Guinea, to a family of animist converts to Christianity, Sarah was inspired by missionary priests and entered the Saint Augustine Minor Seminary in Bingerville, Ivory Coast, at age 12. He was ordained a priest on July 20, 1969, in Conakry, Guinea, and later earned licentiates in theology from the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome and in Scripture from the Studium Biblicum Franciscanum in Jerusalem. At 34, Sarah was appointed Archbishop of Conakry in 1979 by Pope John Paul II, becoming one of the world’s youngest bishops. He served during the oppressive regime of Ahmed Sékou Touré, resisting Marxist policies and maintaining the Church’s independence, earning widespread respect in Guinea. In 2001, he was named secretary of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples, serving nearly a decade. In 2010, Pope Benedict XVI appointed him president of the Pontifical Council Cor Unum and elevated him to cardinal. From 2014 to 2021, Sarah served as prefect of the Congregation for Divine Worship and the Discipline of the Sacraments under Pope Francis, retiring at age 75. A vocal advocate for traditional Catholic teachings, Sarah has emphasized sexual morality, the right to life, and liturgical reverence, often promoting practices like ad orientem worship. He has criticized Western cultural trends, including gender ideology, abortion, and same-sex marriage, comparing their impact to historical ideologies like Nazism and communism. He has also denounced Islamist radicalism, particularly ISIS, for its threats to family structures. His 2023 “Dubia” to Pope Francis, alongside four other cardinals, sought clarity on doctrinal issues like same-sex blessings and women’s ordination, reflecting his orthodox concerns."

When someone who's absolutely not "Christian" and is in fact actively critical and skeptical of the existence of YHWH, is this emphatic about who the next pope should be, maybe we should pay attention.

Cardinal Robert Sarah: "Those who use the Bible to justify mass immigration are bewitched"
What could a Cardinal possibly know about scripture, or an African about immigration? Clearly not as much as some jackleg, keyboard theologian in KY.

I thought this was the guy you referenced earlier. He's the one I read about and find him a worthy choice for the position based on the limited info provided thus far. Good luck to him. If not him, someone very much like him. How leftist is the conclave at present? That's the big question. I don't think the RCC is long for this world with another like Francis.
I think he'd be as good as anyone, although I did see someone talking about a US cardinal that seemed OK. I'm just waiting for all of the progressive christians who loved Francis to bring out the long knives for someone like Sarah. We're going to be talking some serious racism, and a total DEI reversal..
