Before I retired for the evening, I was swamped with dire warnings of worldwide tragedy from the massive Tsunami that resulted from the earthquake off of the Pacific coast of Russia. When I woke up this morning, crickets. Likewise, we had to endure a couple of days of out local weather boffins predicting all sorts of mayhem from a couple of bad storms. Again, the aftermath was pretty underwhelming.
I understand that we need to warn people about dangerous events when possible, I just can't help concluding that it's possible to provide and accurate, reasoned, warning of actual potential danger without the hype and hysteria.
Maybe I'm wrong, but I don't think so.

Such hype, I would suggest, is meant to keep the gullible coming back for updates.
Could be.
