Remember?

Back during the height of COVID, Facebook removed a post by Trump where he compared COVID-19 to the flu.  Fast forward to 2024.  The CDC has officially pronounced COVID-19 should be treated like the flu.

Shocking.

Another case of the left determining right/wrong on the basis of who is saying or doing what is being questioned. Had Trump strategically taken a lefty position on certain issues during his time in office, so much more good could have been accomplished on behalf of the American people, because the Dems would the opposite of what he proposed.

That's one possibility. As has been pointed out, and I just saw it today, Trump was not a conservative on many issues prior to his run for president. I think it would be interesting to see what Trump's base would do if he reverted back to a pro-choice position (for example). You gotta wonder how many of his base would go right along with him, because it's him.

I'm not so sure, though I couldn't say there wouldn't be any. It's those conservative positions which have cemented his following, but that following isn't just a bunch of rubes as some would suggest. That is, I can't suppose that's the case. The things he's done and tried to do is what has grown his support since so many took a chance that this businessman outsider was just the businessman outside they insisted was needed.

I suspect that if Trump reverted back to his pre 2016 positions, that there would be a fair number of his base who'd go right with him.

Yeah, you said that in your first comment. But again, that supposes that his based doesn't support him because of his campaign promises (2016) and his more conservative actions while president. Indeed, that supposes his base is stupid.

Yes, I did. It supposes that his base will support him no matter what he does. As is being played out right before our eyes. The assumption that his base will bail if he goes back on one or two of his "conservative" positions is just that, an assumption.

It's interesting that you've somehow taken a post that is pointing out that Trump was correct, and turned it into something else.

My initial comment was fully on topic, following your lead. It was you who brought up the Trump supporters supporting Trump no matter what, and I followed that lead as well.

If you say so. I see nothing in your first comment that directly relates to the reality that Trump's social post about COVID turned out to be correct, even though it was banned at the time.

But, I'm sure that's what you meant.

Marshal Art said...

Why was it banned? Because it was Trump saying it. My initial comment totally flowed from that reality, which is what your post was indicating. Do you really want to make a big deal of this shit?

It was banned because it went against the narrative at the time. The fact that it was trump being banned was more about the fact that he was president, than anything else, IMO.

Given the crap you're making a big deal out of, it seems kind of amusing for you to bitch about this.

But, you do you. I know how much you hate to be disagreed with.
