If it's not raping children, it's "honor killings" apparently. Yet for some reason the West insists that thousands/millions of people from a society that believes that killing daughters are an appropriate response when one's daughter rebels against the strict family expectations. In theory, I have no problem with immigrants who follow the appropriate legal pathways to immigrate to other countries. Yet the only thing I expect of immigrants is that they commit to assimilate into the culture they enter. This doesn't mean completely abandoning their heritage, but it does mean conforming to the laws, customs, and mores of the country you enter. If "honor killings" and child rape are so ingrained in your "culture" that you just can't give that bit of "culture" up and abide by the law, then don't immigrate to a country where things like rape and murder are frowned upon. It's pretty damn simple, follow the laws, learn the language, and don't impose your culture on native born citizens, and things should be fine. Of course, one questions the validity of a "culture" that is so committed to rape and murder that they insist that they be allowed to continue those practices after the immigrate.

For some reason people have traditionally revered the BBC as a purveyor of "real journalism". This story touches on so multiple aspects of the immigration debate.
1. Assimilation. As you watch the video of the driver and passenger, you see no emotion at all that their driving caused this accident. Why? It seems likely that these idiots simply brought their driving habits from India to the US with no thought to whether or not those habits are accepted in the US, let alone legal. The reality seems to be that many recent immigrants want to come to the US to selfishly benefit, with no real desire or intent of assimilation. In short, they want to impose their culture on the US, even if it means that people die.
2. DFL malfeasance. That CA gave this guy a CDL when he clearly did not know how US traffic laws and practices worked, which allowed him to drive across the country is simply unacceptable. The CA DOT bears some degree of responsibility for these deaths. If I was the victim's family, I'd look long and hard at suing the CA DOT for wrongful death.
3. Respect for human life. The driver's reaction to the crash shows no emotion or concern fro human life. This could be related to a couple of things. First, many third world countries do not place the same value on human life as countries like the US. Second, religions like Hinduism do not place a high valueon human life either. In any case, I suspect that this guy was surprised when he was charged with this killing because he doesn't think he did anything wrong (driving) nor does he think that the lives of his victims had any particular value.

A note of caution. This seems to be related to the stories going around that SCOTUS is going to overturn Obergefell. This seems a bit premature. It would require that SCOTUS actually choose to hear the case, and it's likely that Roberts and at least one other "conservative" justice would not vote to overturn if the case was heard. Finally, there is still a preexisting law that would seem to prevent "gay marriage" from being done away with anyway.

As I've posted a lot about the situation in the UK of late, and of examples of something similar happening in the US, I believe that Dan is confused about the purpose of these posts. He seems to think that this is just me bashing on the "poor and oppressed" because that seems to be the only lens through which Dan sees things.
What I'm trying to do is point out a few things that should be obvious.
1. I can think of no action that is more oppressive than rape even when that rape is carried out bt the "oppressed" against the "oppressor". It's vile, it's wrong, and it could be viewed as part of a larger movement of conquest.
2. When the rapes and other crimes are viewed in light of the rhetoric from these immigrant group in which "Death to..." and language of the intent to replace the government of the host country with Sharia, it certainly changes the context.
3. Islam is one of, if not the, ideology responsible for the most conquest, oppression, genocide, and terror over the last few centuries. It is absurd to pretend that Islam is not part of the "oppressor" class, and is really "oppressed".
4. What's happening in Europe is a direct result of policies enacted and supported by the various liberal/progressive parties in control of various European governments. Unregulated immigration, absurdly generous free stuff, a two tiered "justice system", and allowing immigrant enclaves to become areas where the legitimate government has no control, are all choices that have been made. Those choices have consequences, which we are seeing play out in real time.
5. Dan and his ilk, want to enact those same types of policies in the US. Yet somehow they don't seem to comprehend that we can get a preview of coming attractions by watching how those policies work in Europe.
6. When a member of a particular community/group is arrested for a criminal act, it is inappropriate to threaten violence against either the government or innocent citizens as a response to that arrest or conviction. Further, any public expression of "Death to..." or threats to impose any different governmental system should lead to immediate deportation.
It's not that hard to understand, especially as we've seen the early stages of what's befallen Europe starting to play out in the US. In short, any culture/nationality/religion/people group which does not understand the simple realities that certain behaviors are wrong/illegal should not be imported into the US. If you think that it's acceptable to rape children, or impose a different legal system onto other countries, then you are not welcome in the US. It's not about "race" or skin color in the least. It's about respecting and abiding by the laws of any country that might accept you as an immigrant and choosing not to overthrow the existing government. It's a pretty low bar, yet this reasonable set of expectations seems too much for some.

This is the best rationale I've seen to either ban the immigration of Muslims or to enact some specific penalties that would deal with this situation. Much like the recent example of an anchor baby who's gotten elected to something, this would seem incredibly problematic for Muslim elected officials or witnesses in court.
