The left has it's panties in a wad after TX starts the redistricting process. Strangely enough presumptive presidential candidate Newsome got in the act.
Newsome thought he'd scored by pointing out the fact that states like ND,SD, AK, and WY have no DFL representatives. Apparently he was confused by the fact that these states only have one congressional district therefore only one party is represented.
Meanwhile in Newsome's liberal wonderland.
GOP get;s 40% of the vote, 17% of the house seats.
MA
GOP 35% of the vote, 0% of house seats.
CT
38% of the vote, 0% of house seats.
NY
42% of the vote, 27% of the seats
NJ
38% of the vote, 12% of the seats.
NM
30% of the vote, 0% of the seats.
MD
38% of the vote, 12% of the seats.
HI
30% of the vote, 0% of the seats.
OR
42% of the vote, 16% of the seats.
WA
38% of the vote, 20% of the seats.
RI
38% of the vote, 0% of the seats.
This whole conversation is simply a bunch of bullshit to hide the fact that the DFL has gerrymandered for decades and doesn't want to lose that advantage along with the potential population drop that'll cost blue states seats as well. It's all about an unfair advantage.
Radical suggestion.
Eliminate congressional districts, while keeping the same number of reps. All reps run statewide and the top vote getters win the seats. However seats are split by party along based on the percentage of the vote each party gets.
For example in CT you'd see a 3/2 DFL advantage based on voting percentages.
Seems reasonable to me.
